My "unofficial" audit of the 0.2.0 genesis block continues.

The launch Delegates seem to be divided into two categories.  Thirty of them appear to have received their initial funds from the genesis block; 71 did not.

Example of a launch Delegate (MatthewDC_D8) who DID receive funding from genesis block 5776140615420062008C :

http://cryptichain.me/address/14247409726405533857C

Example of a launch Delegate (Eden) who DID NOT receive funding from genesis block 5776140615420062008C :

http://cryptichain.me/address/9859538319768690939C

How can these 71 of the 0.2.0 launch Delegates have balances of 89-546 XCR yet be listed as not receiving anything from the Genesis block?  I'm not saying there's a problem, I'm just curious.

I had no problems running 0.2.0 on Windows 8.1 from the start.
I uninstalled 0.1.9 and manually deleted the crypti folder in C:
and in appdata/local before installing 0.2.0.

Trying this, see if it works.

This worked! Thank you Malibusparky. I had initially deleted the Crypti folder from C: while ignoring the appdata/local folder. Deleting both folders and installing a fresh copy of 0.2.0 fixed it for me.

Thanks for response.
We will check Windows version asap.

For now try to use localhost after launch Windows:

I'm not sure where to post this so I will just leave it here. After a few troubleshoot tips given by Passion_LTC (Very Helpful ^^), my installation of the Crypti 0.2.0 in Windows 8.1 x64 is still hanging. The steps we took to try and fix the problem were:

1) Uninstall any trace of 0.1.9g, and installed a fresh 0.2.0
2) "Run as administrator" on the shortcut
3) Tried to run it compatible to Windows 7
4) Waited around 15-30mins for loading

Here is a pastebin of my log file: http://pastebin.com/84BWBb1c

And here is a screenshot of the program hanging:

If there are any more recommendations from the Crypti community I will gladly try them out. Thanks in advanced.

You may have gotten started on your own fork, it has happened to me as well.

The solution is to delete the blockchain.db file in the directory, and restart the node.

Updated my original post, this was the first thing we tried.

Imagine voting in a bunch of starik69s? I shudder.
Whats wrong?  Huh You do not want me to support Crypti network? Cry

You are not a rational person. So no, I would not trust you to support the network.

I feel my point of view is important for everyone to keep in mind about Crypti.

Crypti truly has potential for a very big future. Why? DPOS has started.
This gives us 10 second blocks and no need for users to host the entire blockchain.
Hence, lightweight mobile friendly clients are coming and that alone is a must have
for mainstream adoption.

Now, this alone is not too special. Its all of this, being in node.js plus, custom blockchains
which is supposedly mostly done that makes Crypti special.

Even when custom blockchains is released things won't instantly happen. It will take time for
people to discover what to do with it. After the internet was "invented" how many years did
it take for people to discover they can't live without social media. Yet it eventually happened.
Which brings me to my next point.

For those who are disappointed in the small number of non foundation delegates registering
I say what did you expect? Right now the only people I would trust as delegates are pretty
much the ones who are now. For decentralization's sake the current delegates would like
to eventually step down but only with reliable worthy replacements. Crypti's community is
so tiny its not possible now. Right now I trust the current delegates more than random community
members. When Crypti is a real currency with lots of action going on this will happen naturally.
Imagine voting in a bunch of starik69s? I shudder.

Litoshi's example is exactly why I have not decided to register a delegate.
He is clearly someone who has Crypti's best interest in mind and can be trusted in that regard.
But his actual performance as a delegate is less than ideal.
I don't run Crypti on a cloud server and do not have a pc running 24 hours. So I would not make
a reliable delegate. I would want all the Crypti delegates to be technical people who know
how to keep uptime high and have no malicious intent.
Right now the current delegates are the best choice this early in Crypti's life.

I'm having some issues with the Crypti 0.2.0 client on Windows 8.1. After installing and starting up the program, it hangs on the initial screen, never allowing me to type my passphrase and access my account.

Guys, I hope this quiet launch was intentional. Cause if not then 3 non-fictional delegates in 24 h is a disaster.
I'm afraid  Cry

To get more people to participate the voting is a big concern for DPoS right now, probably the biggest one. Both CfB and Vitalik voiced this concern. I believe that in the future, when Crypti get bootstrapped and adopted by the real business, the users will have much high motivation to participate the voting and this issue will be solved.

CfB's review:
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=13921.150

The same concern has been shared by Vitalik - https://www.zapchain.com/a/FRsI5InA2e
Quote
DPOS: not too comfortable with people voting honestly as a security assumption (as I recall, there was an empirical result that showed that due to the mass of people non-voting you only need ~8% of stake to perform a "51% attack"), would prefer it used a more standard BFT algo between the delegates, but otherwise makes sense.

Incentivizing voting has been a concern of mine as well. One way to create an interest in participation would be for delegates to set their own fees, and users would pay the fee of the delegate they vote for. The transaction would still be processed by the forging delegate, but the fees would be split at the end of the round according to how much the delegates are charging instead of evenly. I expect running a delegate will be more of part of marketing its main business, like a company putting its name on a stadium, than used as a source of income by itself. The point of DPoS is to minimize the cost of securing the network, not make money for the delegates.

How is this mitigated? If there is no financial incentive to secure the network, it will then be financially beneficial to ATTACK it, no?

I think if you have a real business on Crypti, you will have the motivation to be a delegate to secure the network because you make profit and living on your business, not necessary to make profit by being a forger.

YES!  My point exactly from six months ago!

I talked previously about a dual Bitcoin / Crypti box, but for vendor access in accepting both coins for transactions, not mining.  Vendors would buy the box to process Bitcoin, and stay for the use of Crypti once Bitcoin crashes.  As it will.

A desire to Mine / forge is a get-rich-quick attitude that must be transcended to implement a cryptocoin commerce system where vendors run nodes only to process transactions and the network is "formed" and "strengthened" from that motivation alone....

We gotta go BEYOND Bitcoin....

Yes, Mal, I agree with you.  Bitcoin is the "Ford Model T" of the cybercoin universe.  Unfortunately, ground breaking inventions are rarely all inclusive and perfectly functional, but they are revolutionary enough and being first, tend to stick around for a long time.

The Model T was still a a large percentage of cars on the road until the early 1950s. A 30 year run!

Bitcoin will be THE major player for at least another year, and A major player for many years after that.  Our goal is to make XCR one of the Bitcoin replacements.  Perhaps the "Chevy Corvette" of the crypto world?
