simple and genius... i believe any solid ecommerce fork with monero built in will have tremendous start in anonymous transactions area. In fact Atrides can really expand into this and build himself a niche business in addition to pool operations. if this really takes off i see great anon ecommerce platform that would be pretty much adaptable to any business model.

I don't mind at all if someone else will develop freebazaar. how mentioned, it is an opensource project, free for everyone.

That's just the opportunity for Monero to do this faster than the other and attract a great attention. no matter who does this, the point is to get as quicker as possible. the best thing would be if "original" Openbazaar would just add monero, we could safe time..

but they're moving very slowly themselves. I wrote to someone by pm, this is a serious "full-time" project, not an "after-work-evening-job", who can work for free? openbazaar devs don't earn anything from developing, they asked the community about donation, since last spring they got 19.7BTC, no wonder that it isnot ready yet..
everone is delighted with the idea, but not many want really to do something for that..

A brief comment on FreeBazaar (speaking individually here, not on behalf of the project).

I donated a small but not insignificant amount to it (a few dozen people donating what I did would make it fly). Of course there can be smaller and larger donations. I also told Atrides I would donate more as milestones are achieved.

OpenBazaar may be overhyped, I don't disagree, but on the other hand Monero not only lacks easy integration with all commerce and marketplace tools, but currently has no tools at all of its own. Something that does ecommerce and works with Monero out of the box can be a big help to the coin. MyMonero has added something big for usability on the end user side and work continues to improve the network itself. We also need to be making these steps on the merchant/ecommerce side as well.

Given what Atrides has already accomplished with DwarfPool and MoneroClub, I believe him when he says he is capable of making it usable and useful.

Is Monero going to be integrated in Openbazaar?

The openbazaar project has said they are open to support other coins if others do the work. Unfortunately the current design of openbazaar depends heavily on multisig, which doesn't currently exist in Monero, so that approach is not feasible right now.

So Atrides has taken it upon himself to create a fork of openbazaar called freebazaar that is designed to: 1) tightly and natively integrate with Monero, and be maintained as a Monero-based marketplace; and 2) work without blockchain-based multisig (using another escrow system of his own design -- I don't know the details).

He has asked for crowdfunded support for this project (see above)

The sooner the cryptonote's design of multisig whitepaper is released the better. Any progress? But there is someone working on it, right? Smiley

You've forgot to mention the climate. Burn all your summer clothes if you decide to move, you wont need them...
Climate has not much to with economy (except for tourism, of course). Summertime in Estonia is like springtime in France. Wintertime is OK as long as it snows (higher albedo leads to more light) and the temperature, you just get used to it. From my experience (confirmed by Estonians), autumn is the wors moment: no sun + no snow.

Are there any good business reasons for living in Estonia? And to keep my question on-topic, are there any good reasons why members of the Monero community might consider Estonia as a place to do business?
e-residency. Almost no company tax. You do not need to physically be in Estonia. Read this https://e-estonia.com/e-residents/e-residency/ or contact me as I can help you in making it a reality (some XMR holders are already interested).

Also, Estonia is predicted to have the lowers debt of all the European Union in some years (2% if my memory serves me well). Then; we all know what happens of predictions, but still.

Estonia also has the world's first nationwide electric vehicle charging network and the world's first nationwide 4G-LTE network. In Estonia, you have the rare "concern" of having to check if your smartphone is fast enough for your network connection and not the other way around - [ur=https://www.emt.ee/en/era/internet-telefonisl]20 Gb of data at 300 Mbps for 30 euros a month[/url] would require no less than a cat6 LTE smartphone to take advantage of the network.

The only downside is environmental: Estonia is also the world's biggest user of oil shale in percentage: 90% of its electricity comes from carbon-heavy oil shale. On the plus side, it means electricity is cheap.

I am looking for webdesigner for a major Monero website to be launched. Drupal knowledge required (or willing to learn). This may not be a paid job. Installing and maintaining a pre-made theme is possible too. Contact me.

Just curious, why is no darknet market that I've heard of built completely around Monero?

Why hasn't anyone here made one?

I just want to be able to buy a lifetime supply of titties and beer and live on a sandy beach with palm trees where it is summer every day. Utila anyone?

21 million. I want them all.
Speaking of Estonia, Risto, you are Finnish, right? May I ask why you chose Estonia? I am also living outside of my country. Are there any good business reasons for living in Estonia? The Monero forum is working once again.  I even see a post from somebody who had not previously been able to use the site.

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
Or...people like to sell things without getting caught by the middleman or the police.  Wink

That may turn out be true, but also relatively unimportant. Early on you could say the web was the perfect way to distribute porn without being censored by Blockbuster or Walmart, and you would have been correct, but at the same time completely missed the mark.

You need an early on to get to the later.

Sure, and porn was indeed an early adopter of the web, including many important scaling technologies that made later uses possible. I'm just saying that the ultimate impact turned out to be much more than porn.

True but Pr0n is still the most important! Tongue

So what is needed for ecommerce integration ?
- php/python code which talk with rpc wallet ?
- qr code generator for making payment easy ? (we dont have wallet wich support qr code yet).
- command line generator for payement ? (like on poloniex for transferring xmr to there)

list is open feel free to fill it Smiley

No, its a lot more than that. Most merchants (except the very largest) don't want to get involved with building much of anything. They want off the shelf solutions that integrate easily with other off the shelf solutions. This requires a lot of pieces to be built, in many cases hosted by someone, supported, marketed, etc. Code on github doesn't by itself do much. The beauty of something like OpenBazaar is that the package is fairly self-contained. You can use a piece of software and start selling stuff.

Other self-contained or modular-but-widely-compatible e-commerce solutions are certainly possible, but I don't see anyone stepping up to build them. When someone steps up to build something that looks to be useful, I say we get behind that.

So i guess we are all waiting the mymonero.com API which will ease the integration of Monero in website with some good json-rpc call.

btw Stripe.com just integrated bitcoin transaction in their API we may be ask integrate xmr Tongue

Agreed. My point is that sex is a prime driver of man as is addiction and power and these things will feed an anonymous exchange much faster than any later applications that are driven by much more complex or humanistic ideals. I still remember the day music beat out porn  on search engines--it took many years. No one can predict how xmr or btc driven networks will look in the future, but I'll bet that the one that lets people indulge their appetites anonymously will be more successful than the one that doesn't. Just my opinion devoid of any moral stance.
