I've read the critiques in the whitepaper, and the annotations it summarizes.  Have there been any responses to its questions, e.g., where did the constant ell come from?

There have been no responses from the Cryptonote/Bytecoin scammer crew. Perhaps they have been too busy with other "activities."

I recently downloaded the latest bitmonerod, and experienced the following - is it safe to assume that I need to delete the old blkchn data and re-synch?

Yes, you failed the checkpoint test so the old blockchain.bin needs to be deleted and replaced with the correct one.

But don't resync from zero, download the bootstrapped version of the blockchain.bin from the OP.

Ok - thank you.  Smiley

Is there anyway to copy and paste an address into the cmd window? Typing out one of these addresses will guarantee errors.
Click top left of the cmd window, click Edit, then click paste.

Other than Tsiv's Nvidia Monero miner, are there any others for the Nvidia crowd?

Nope, that's it.

Any update on the status with cryptsy? If I recall correct, somewhere end of july a member stated that they were in the progress of adding it.

doesn't seem a priority... https://twitter.com/cryptsy/status/509444809719676929
Probably just to lazy to get trough all the work adding a coin with a different code. Most coins added there are just clones.. But would be nice if we get added there!

@coinits:
Try right-clicking on the title of the window, not somewhere in the main window area.

Very easily, the right click menu has a paste option in the command window.

There is no context menu in 0.8.8.3.

I have one on Windows 7. Anyway, you found a way round it so no bother.

Windows 7 here too and I get a context menu on all of my other CMD panes but not Monero. Strange.

I was doing something else to remind someone that DRK isn't and hasn't been full of Monero trolls, and then this ^^

Just a thought......

DRK has around 1,000 decentralized Master Nodes - servers. Those Master Node operators get paid to have a robust DDoS set-up and prove they are who they say they are and not thousands of men in the middle by putting aside 1,000 DRK (most use cold storage to reduce incentives to attack Master Node servers).

Those servers could be used to support the growing Monero block chain too without you having to figure out a similar mechanism?

So it was the original idea behind decentralised cryptocoins to allow some choosen rich few to buy themselves into a priviledged position inside the network?

All people are equal, but Masternodes even more so? Reeking in their fair share or revenue by clipping of their earnings from each and every transaction beeing done?
People bragging to make 1 BTC a week by running a node?

One of the reasons why I implemented a muting people inside Poloniex trollbox addon, get it here

Chosen rich few? Anyone can set-up a Master Node.

You could have the same argument as ASICs. Distributed ASICs help secure the network, but they come at a price. That's what prevents 51% attackers, the cost of launching attacks.

That's what PoW is as well. A cost barrier.

The cost barrier was recently deployed to prevent spamming the Monero block chain.

This is the only reply, so the thought is dropped. I'm not looking to enter into an argument.

EDIT: Ahhh I found it. Click on icon in upper left corner of pane. edit -> paste

You may get an unwanted space in your address and I think this may be due to it wrapping onto 2 lines.  It's not always easy to see.  It happened to me while setting up my miner so it didn't work at first.
