extremehash.com is getting a lot of orphans, now 8 of the 13 unlocked. Is this just bad luck or something else at play?

People tend to forget there is a market (and a huge one) for traceable transactions.
- Public spending
- Donations

I have the feeling people are implying anonymity is better than transparency. Fact it is one is not superior to another. They are different. And, dare I say, complementary.

And it is not even a matter of good guy and bad guy. Just read about sousveillance and you will understand how traceability may help the society as a whole as much as anonymity can.

David I think you have a really good point! Althought, I think in the end the market for anonymous money will be bigger. I know myself I have never had any desire to have my transaction history be knowable to others. I definitely think you're right though that there will always be a place for non-anonymous currencies. Perhaps Bitcoin will continue to fulfill that roll in the future if an anonymous currency like Monero attains dominance.
OTOH, I recently read about enforcing companies to display their public payment_id for transparency reasons.

What OSI levels 1-7 have done, OSI levels 8-10 can have it undone Smiley

Edit: it's funny to me that it's borrowed from Esperanto since it actually carries over a design flaw - no way should the name of an international currency include a rhotic consonant, those are really hard for a lot of people to pronounce, depending on the phonology of their native language.
Esperanto always confused "world" and "Europe" anyway (which actually made some sense when it was created, during the heydays of Europe).

It was 0 in all my atempts.

I've just transfered 1 coin and it worked. So aparently I had to split in ONE-COIN transaction whatever I need to transfer to the exchange. This is insane...  Shocked
you don't have to do that. People are transfering thousands of coins in one transaction without problem. You can try transfer a random amount to another address of yours to see if the problem still occur.

Yes, same error.

By any chance those who transfer thousand of coins are small miners? Do they get those thousands of coins throught hundreds of thousands of little transactions from pools to their wallets? Because that's how I get my 2 coins. My pool made almost a hundred transactions to send me those 2 coins.

Literally people can transfer any amount within one transaction, there is no limit. I don't know what's your problem but it should be local.

Wallet issues and a few questions

When mining at a pool using a wallet address such as moneropool.com  how long does it take for the total Paid, to show up in the wallet,  I have 3.9 MRO listed as paid but not in my wallet yet, over 12 hours have passed.  Should I be expecting for wait for minutes , hours or days ?

Yesterday I transferred about 1.1 MRO from my wallet, using the Cryptonote wallet v.0.15 (GUI for SimpleWallet) to Poloniex using a transaction id, over 12 hours later nothing has shown up, how can I trace this transaction ?

thank you

Recheck your wallet address, I've been receiving coins from moneropool.com without problems.

Discovered my problems started when I made copies of my wallet folder, Found my original wallet folder loaded my wallet.bin and discovered it still had balance of 1.1 so my transfer out never worked.
Using simplewallet.exe I noticed that the block height was stuck at 50402.  I download new copy of the wallet and the block chain to a diffrent computer and only copied over my original wallet.bin.address.txt and wallet.bin.keys.   Simplewallet recreated the wallet.bin file. On this new wallet bock height was 53136 and it contained 7 MRO.

Just found a block, I'm well pleased!

I was pool mining monero but the payouts were low and very slow so I decided to give solo merge mining with fantomcoin a shot and two days later I've found two fantom blocks and just now a monero block. My hash rate is around 100 H/s so I know I'm lucky to get off to such a good start.

Just wanted to share and give others a little hope, the blocks are out there so keep on mining Smiley

Could somebody please help me? I have an i7 processor with 8 cores but was wondering does it make a difference if I mine from the GUI wallet (pool) or should I perhaps use something else? If I should use something else, then what is the best miner?

Thanks a lot!

I beleive the lastest Cpu-miner multi from Lucas is what you want. It has Wolfs optimisations in it that will boost the speed if you have an an i7 with aes-ni

https://github.com/LucasJones/cpuminer-multi/releases

Seems to be working. The other one i had downloaded didnt have all the .dlls with it.

Is that the current most optimized miner?
I was about to use the official ones, but now I see these.
