Hashrate and difficulty has dropped significantly, good job was done! A good old Monero came back. It's a pity that it wasn't done before and ASIC's worked for quite a long time.
I don't think 1.5x indicates a botnet at all.
For one thing the Windows miner was optimized to be about twice as fast (which makes it slightly faster but fairly close). Given that so many people use Windows a big jump is to be expected.
Second with the attention this coin is getting and the enormous price jump it is not surprising that many more people want to mine it.
Leveling the playing field for GPU rig owners is drawing attention back to Monero for sure. People want a coin that will keep to its principles, and one of the core principles for Monero from the beginning was ASIC resistance. For me the dev's were like surgeons and cut out ASIC (cancer) from the main body. However looking at hash rates and how it is still falling, over 800Mh so far, I'm left wondering just how long the ASIC miners were out there? Interesting to read yesterday that the XMO hash rate was at 800Mh.
Right now I have put all my rigs on Monero to help the network out. The pool I mine at yesterday was at 2.1Mh but now has slowly climbed to 4.4Mh even as the network hash rate continues to fall. It has been interesting to watch over the weekend. I feel the coin that got me into the crypto space has taken moves to stick to its core principles. Emotions drive the market so maybe a good sign for XMR when it comes to value.

I'm getting around 690 to 710H/s each card on my RX570 8gb modded rigs.
I have one rig that is not modded with 6 RX570's and they are pulling about 530H/s each

Something strange is happening with this fork.
Monerujo, which has been updated to version 12, shows the wrong block height, compared with the version 12 daemon I'm running locally.
As does wallet-cli when it's connected to a remote daemon that I know is running version 12, because it's on a vps that belongs to me.

Does anybody have success using a wallet that isn't connected to a local daemon?

From the looks of it it seems the fork was successful in getting rid of the Bitmain ASIC miners. Can you please explain which of the 2 chains will emerge in the medium term as the dominant chain?
The v7 chain (XMR) is supported by the ecosystem. Monero Classic (v6 chain) was basically merely introduced to keep ASICs alive.
If the devs sypport v7, then v7 should become the main chain. Just like what happened when Eth forked and Eth was the main chain and Eth classic became the secondary chain.
What if Bitmain adjusts it protocol and makes a new batch that can mine v7? Or what if the protocol and algorithms are placed on EEPROM chips that can be upgraded after a fork happens?
The PoW algorithm will change every 6 months. So the Bitmain or other manufacturer can only mine in a short period. EEPROM is expensive.
Recently algo was updated to cryptonight V7, (ASICs not supported)
Supported miner agents:
1) cast-xmr 0.9.1+ use "--algo 1" cmd argument. For Vega, RX 580, RX 480. Gives best hashrate
2) SRBMiner, use "cryptonight_type" : "normalv7".
3) claymore 11.3, use "-pow7 1"
4) xmr-stak, use "currency" : "monero7"
5) xmrig 2.5.0+, use "variant": 1

An ASIC is the protocol algo if you put it on a eprom them you have a fpga and not an asic.

All devs are still in this chain. The classic chain are new devs that just want quick profit. They are supported by Bitmain as usual ust like BCH. They just want to keep their dominance in the market. They know they are about to lose market shares as new asic makers come in so they are looking to jump in other algo to keep up their profits.

I have a mining rig of Nvidia Tesla m2090 that I've been mining XMR modestly using CCminer.
Now after the fork, it is not working anymore and I am unable to find a miner that works. May you please help.

How to install Monero Wallet, I extracted files on Windows10 64 bit, and now I open monero-wallet-gui.exe and it closes. So how do I open it?

If it didn't open, try launching via the start-low-graphics-mode.bat batch file that is included.
I've had two Ryzen CPU on supportxmr.com since this morning. Around 800 h/s. The pool still shows 0.0000000000 due.
I realize I'm not some hashing powerhouse here but shouldn't there be at least some XMR due by now? Seriously the pool is carrying that figure out to ten decimal places.

Your balance will only update once the blocks you've "contributed" to mature. Note that it takes 60 blocks for a block to mature.
