congrats icetrooooll, you singlehandedly managed to troll both dash and monero thread... i should praise you for your achievement...

I'm not the only one that noted klee's ragequit was a tad emotionally overwrought.

Can we do a PnF analysis of this thread, using troll vs shill posting stats?   Tongue

"LE36: Roger Ver and Erik Voorhees – Scaling Debate and the Future of Bitcoin" - Monero Mentioned at 29:20:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiePk91w6pM#t=29m20s

... but did they connect the dots between Bitcoin's in ability to scale and Monero? The small block crowd also have a very valid point, when the block subsidy ends the coin becomes insecure. Bytecoin with its adaptive blocksize limit and no tail emission may well prove the small block crowd right.  Wink

Nope, and I must be dazed and confused because I did not hear Monero @29:20 but DASH and Zcash, sorry he said "DASH, Monero and zcash".

Roger in particular has a thing against XMR sure, the way they make it a point to NOT bring up XMR anywhere or dodge the topic when someone else brings it. If it is at some other timestamp, I'd like to know but it doesn't matter much. They will pump zcash beyond limits once it goes GA

^^still stand by this (wasn't Roger that mentioned anyways)^^

OK, got it.   Cheesy

EDIT:  Klee is a victim of Voorhee's fake censorship martyr story.  He retweeted https://twitter.com/ErikVoorhees/status/740590787843358720 but not the retraction and apology.

IOW, Klee was agitated by Voorhee's propaganda.  No wonder he was a bit sandy and salty today.   Cheesy

When I first started to sit down and wanted to learn more about cryptos about a year ago (long story as to why), I always loved this post by AP that pretty much is a different way of thinking about investing that provides a great analogy about going out early to bars.

Wow, it's fun forgetting you wrote something and rereading it (wondering what the hell you're talking about).  I hope we one day have the technology to make George R Martin forget everything he knows about Thrones and make him experience it for the first time >=)

Regardless of congruence with reality, that "altcoin clubbing" essay is Legendary.   Cool

If we introduced GRRM to Bitcointalk, he'd be like "zomg wtf I can't handle this I'm out there are too many characters and too much drama!!1!"   Cheesy

I like XMR and all the goals the project is trying to achieve. And so I have bought a third of Bitcoin a few months ago. Unfortunately it dropped and now I need to go up. Do you guys think that it can go up to 4 bitmills again=?

I sure hope so...

You have to be long on XMR. It's not going to magically increase. I was a long time bagholder until I finally just got out right before the BTC increase, so I did ok, but probably not in the long haul, who knows, I just felt better doing it... It's a hard coin to hold long term. But, I do believe, it will pay off which is why I just grabbed 1k on Polo, this way I don't feel so exposed to the massive swings this coin has and will likely continue to take. On the other hand, it's also fun to be a large holder, you can watch the value of your holdings swing hundreds of dollars in literally minutes. Just like bitcoins can swing 1000's of USD when you own 100's of them! Cheesy

As someone who went out to bars a good bit back in college, you would kind of "know" which bars will be packed later on in the night based on what kind of specials all the bars run and what days are popular for certain bars.

Point being, is that if you have a gut feeling that a certain bar is going to be really fun and you are trying to have a great time with friends, you should go ahead and get set up there before the "herd" of people come strolling in when the line starts to get long at the door.  People want to be apart of what is a success and it's not necessarily random what ends up being popular with a certain group of people, which in this analogy would be drunken college kids (and for cryptocurrencies would be people who want to protect their privacy).

With that being said, if you have that gut feeling of something being popular in the long run of things, usually it will eventually be the right call.

Wow boolberry - great link.  Monero fans aren't fans due to brand name loyalty.  We are fans because it's honestly the best.  Zooko is a famous cryptographer but one should not publicly admit they don't understand the primary feature of their largest competitor, and if that is true they should probably rectify that.  Monero supporters have been intensely interested in zcash for years because if it truly is better in all ways then we should switch to it.  But it's not - it has some damning problems both mathematically and socially (with its current implementation).

Nothing has changed too much - Monero is still the only totally viable crypto project I know of.

A few semi-viable, pretty-good-honesty/launch blockchains have sprung up in recent months that are worth your time to investigate: SIA and IOC come to mind.  But mostly it's all scam nonsense.

Bitcoin is archaic and getting older by the day: you can plug as much shit as you want onto the Sega Genesis (32x, CD drive), in the end it will fall to the Sony PlayStation.

ZCash (the equivalent of the 3DO) has done nothing to address its technical issues, and has in fact added a host of social issues (backed by a company with a premine) which make it double-damaged.

Monero will win: it's a foregone conclusion based on facts and logic.  The world can stay irrational for a while longer and go gaga for fluffy and flawed bullshit like Ethereum but reality will eventually catch up.

On ZCash vs Monero:
https://twitter.com/EncryptionGirl/status/740413235942285312

@zooko @Snowden Would appreciate your comparison of #zcash with @monerocurrency and #RingCT https://lab.getmonero.org/pubs/MRL-0005.pdf … #monero #zcash

May be an interesting Twitter conversation to follow although I think @Creveroeland  is being rather harsh on @zooko who IS an accomplished cryptographer with an impressive record, just trying to being honest about not knowing everything about Monero and wanting to hear more

I mentioned to them on Reddit that they need to stop looking at Monero as an altcoin and start seeing it as the fulfillment of the original Bitcoin vision.  Feel free to chime in:

Stealing from a traveler far away from their home and support network is different than stealing from a neighbor you know can afford it.

That's why the traditional penalty for horse thieves and highwaymen is the same - death by hanging or firing squad.

And if they want to harden their approach, justice will reach out and find softer targets.

[honest reaction to unnecessarily dramatic Goodbye Cruel World self-pity party]

Sounding like an asshole proofs his points... can we atleast argue as adults?

As adults, we are obligated to give our friends a hard time when they do silly/obnoxious stuff like having Hearnias and making whiny rage quit posts.

You want me to treat him like a child and use soft, soothing tones to avoid melting his delicately beautiful snowflake crystals?

I give klee more credit than that, and assume he (a senior Bitcointalker) has skin thick enough to roll with some playful fisticuffs.

By white knighting for klee, you imply he lacks agency and thus treat him as your ward (IE, a child or invalid).

I never said you should talk soft with him, neither did i white knight him.

What i said was that YOU may talk like an adult or grown up person. This is a discussion forum not a hangout with your RL buddies who you can call names whenever you like.
