Possibly relevant to XMR speculation. Zerocoin seems to be moving forward - they at least have an angel page with investors from a previous round.

everyone is moving together in this, what a day again, massive volatility everywhere. xmr was kind of stable compared.
if btc drops, all are moving into altcoins, eth was down like 40% and now had a huge pull back.

maybe this can go on for some time, but then the point will come where this kind of counter action triggers a bull run in altcoins. btc may rise further after the drop, but people wont stop buying altcoins.

Guys don't try to look for any divine reason for the market actions. I'm telling you what's happening and what's going to happen so let the pro speculators work, sit and wait.

I'm telling you, most of big XMR short whales are closing positions and most of them will be long in a couple of weeks.

SO DON'T WORRY, THE BIG DUMP IS OVER (on XMR)  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

(We can get a bit lower, but nothing to worry about) Wink

I have to admit it, even though BTC went up significantly, you made a pretty good call. I hope your new prediction also materializes.

Monero (XMR) - secure, private, untraceable
November 04, 2015, 07:03:35 AM
Nice to see XMR finally taking off !!!

Yup - nice and steady at 50 cents and holding up better than many other alts.

If you think holding up is losing 50% of its value against btc , which lets face it, is how most people bought into XMR and how most people will likely cash out then I'm confused.

imo holding a $ value is scant compensation while missing out on double gains. (inb4 everyone says that double gains is nothing when XMR is going to do 100x)

Sure it's an oppurtunity to buy more cheap but if there's anything this btc rally has shown is that alts in general are starting to become less and less relevant.

There are so few people now holding XMR and in particular the ones holding the very large bags that aren't underwater right now.
Be careful. I don't think this BTC rally is just over yet, but I may be wrong. In USD terms the current XMR price is +25+% compared to the waited average last 30 days and it's more then the waited USD average last year (~0.5$). My XMR buying experience is like buying with cash - I make a BGL (Bulgarian lev) BTC order, then I have 30 minutes to pay it with cash at 2300+ places in Bulgaria (no ID needed when buying, but it's needed if you sell for BGL). When I pay it the btc is sent to my poloniex account immediately and my bot start placing XMR orders. Last year my buying decisions were made mainly regarding the XMR/BGL price, not the XMR/BTC price and I think many are doing the same. If the BTC rally continues I think we are still going down a bit in BTC terms, but at some point there will be a reversal and it could be quite fast. The reversal of the XMR/BTC trend will take place at some point no matter if the BTC is still going up, but it'll be sooner if BTC drops or stays the same.

If you see value in BTC terms that may be so. But the double gains you speak of are a short term phenomenon. Play the long game.

Sure but while btc rallies if its so obvious alts slump until the end of the rally why would you hold them when you can by two or three times more of the alt later, before these mythical 100x+ gains.

Dont forget the long game for most alts is having a high probability of failure.

I can see your point, but wouldn't dare to sell my alt-stash now to get into BTC... it's way too parabolic again, parabola always end in tears... If I buy BTC now, sure, it might double, but will I have the courage to sell at the top, or will I be to greedy? Will I wait till everybody wants to leave and the whole house collapses again to the USD300's...

Just like Bitcoin before, I'm in Monero for the long game, I can see the great underlying value, although it's still very speculative... But I won't part from my monero's now, to buy into a new parabolic BTC-bubble...

best regards

I've gotten the impression it's a common belief that when BTC rally subsides the alts will bounce up hard as people will start looking other means to increase their wealth.

Common belief yeah but past performance is no indicator etc etc.

Look at LTC, that's held its value.

Also, when will BTC rally subside?

$10k? That would make XMR 0.0000x ? I wouldn't like to be holding it down there and cheering about $ value conservation.

Monero USD is doing well because BTC is rallying
https://www.coingecko.com/en/price_charts/monero/usd

But when we look in terms of BTC, it is not so pleasant hmmm

I'm calling we've seen the bottom in BTC terms.

Nah. If btc is going up, xmr price in btc will go down. But, at the same time, xmr price and volume in usd is considerably going up. I guess that this is because of new crypto users, trying to buy some "afortable" crypto currencies with a potential of  growh.
