Some cloud mining sites are doing XMR mining. I think XMR is a robust project. I have 10 projects on the crypto market, so I include XMR. It may arrive at the end of 2018 at the level of $ 1000.

I think that monero is one of the better projects available in the market right now and i see alot of potential in monero. It is the world's first privacy coin whose transactions are 100 percent secure and untraceable. It has one of the strongest development teams which is very capable and promising. It is gaining popularity and if it continues to grow at the same rate, you can easily expect it's price to be above 1000$ by end of this year for sure.

The market needs more attention to drive monero's price up to $1000 this year. We didn't see thid much demand yet. The market is like very stable now.

Doesn't sound like Bullet Proofs are coming in the next hardfork, having to wait until what.. September? Basically a life time in crypto.

With how much transaction sizes and fees being the hot topic in crypto currencys this is pretty big blow to Monero in what was looking to be a pretty positive Q1-Q2 for it.

Half year ago no one even know bulletproofs exist. It was just speed and good organization of research lab and Monero developers that was possible to add (not full version) of bulletproofs in March hardfork. Reason why it was not added was academical review. Something that most of other coins dont even bother doing it. Now bulletproof will be added without any pressure since will be plenty of time to do them perfectly.  Also March hardfork will be done with less pressure and on time what is important for developers that build infrastructure around Monero (like Ledher HW).

Monero transactions are not small, but by itself that is not a problem. They add to blockhain size. Yes that is not good, but in half year time blockchain size will not have a huge change because of no bulletproofs. Fees are currently not a problem. They would be if price suddenly goes up by 10 or more.  There are talks to try to reduce fees in March a bit.

One of good news of last devs meeting was that updated white paper will be available next month. I could be wrong but I think Monero actually never had one. It always related to the cryptonote white paper.  And white papers are definitely in lately with all craze about ICOs. As many pages of whitepaper you have that many millions you will gather. Tongue

Who needs White Papers when you have the Monero Research Labs

Monero is in the news again for illegal mining by hackers:

https://betanews.com/2018/01/28/monero-mining-youtube-ads/

Quote
The clandestine mining of cryptocurrency is something that we have seen in various forms over the last year or so, in website code and Android apps. A new discovery by security firm Trend Micro shows that hackers have found a way to inject Coinhive mining code into ads that appear on YouTube.

The crypto-jacking technique means that hackers have been able to profit by using other people's CPU time to mine the Monero cryptocurrency while they watch videos. Trend Micro reports that there has been a huge increase in Coinhive web miner detections in recent days, with hackers abusing Google's DoubleClick to distribute the code through big sites including YouTube.

Trend Micro says that over the last week there has been a threefold increase in the JS_COINHIVE.GN Coinhive miner. The company says that "advertisements found on high-traffic sites not only used Coinhive [...] but also a separate web miner that connects to a private pool," and explains that it shared its finding with Google.

Writing about its finding in a blog post, Trend Micro explains:

We detected an almost 285 percent increase in the number of Coinhive miners on January 24. We started seeing an increase in traffic to five malicious domains on January 18. After closely examining the network traffic, we discovered that the traffic came from DoubleClick advertisements.

An analysis of the malvertisement-riddled pages revealed two different web miner scripts embedded and a script that displays the advertisement from DoubleClick. The affected webpage will show the legitimate advertisement while the two web miners covertly perform their task. We speculate that the attackers' use of these advertisements on legitimate websites is a ploy to target a larger number of users, in comparison to only that of compromised devices. The traffic involving the abovementioned cryptocurrency miners has since decreased after January 24.

The impact of the crypto-miners was far from insignificant -- they had been configured to use 80 percent of CPU resources for mining purposes. By using an obfuscated private miner, the hackers were also able to bypass Coinhive's commission fee.

I don't suppose there is any law which stops us having a release if we needed it.

We have never been a coin to release half finished shit and go for the marketing over substance.

when it is well tested and ready it can be baked in.

So the thoughts of 2014 is over! 2018 is gonna be yyyuuuuge.

I dont think the possibility of 2018 to be new 2014 is over. I personally would love for Bitcoin to hang around $10k and Monero around $300 for next half year. Just so all those newcomers that joined crypto to make fast profit sell. and All other newcomers that joined crypto to learn something have time to actually learn something. And that they have some time to accumulate something before next leg up.

But this are just my hopes, nothing to do with reality.

Seems like a good time to accumulate. How many others are accumulating?
I'm accumulating too but don't have that much to spend unfortunately.

Yep I'm back in the market and it feels good. Taking some profits from another successful venture and plowing them into monero.

Monero transactional efficiency and privacy will give it a great value push in the long run. In fact, it is not hard to imagine Monero at $1000 as more people get to learn about its technological superiority over Bitcoin!

I am confident that Monero will reach the price of $ 1000 very soon. As soon as bitcoin goes up, then all alto coins will also start to grow. Now is a great time to buy this coin.

Isn't he the guy who put a bug in his zcoin and created coins and dumped them? Once again my memory may be off so correct me if wrong. I need to just add a memory disclaimer to my sig. :)P

jl777 has no connection with zcoin, KMD is based on Z-cash though (without the tax), so maybe that's what you remembered.

thats possible.

Well it's gonna be pretty tough to use Monero's utxo set! LMAO

But with that being said if this BarterDEX does manage to support Monero then let us know!

only bitcoin based coins use utxo method, other coins/tokens like ETH, ERC20 use different tech for swaps, developed by other members of komodo team now.

jl777 will get XMR swaps working if it's possible, if XMR community is serious about looking into atomic swaps then Charlie Lee is not the guy to work with.

Eventually BarterDEX will likely have atomic swaps working between all bitcoin based coins, ETH, ERC20, and XMR maybe too, Charlie Lee has done a handful of manual swaps (i.e. typing commands in manually), and isn't on the cutting edge, nowhere near it.

Yeah, thats why I was laughing. Smiley
