Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff I'm going cryptopnuts these days. Reading a lot, viewing a lot, reading more and that in and endless loop. Shifting through loads and loads of crap. A lot of hype and moon talk, a lot of companies that have a coin as a byproduct (a crowdfund) of the services they offer on top of the blockchain and a lot of other just 100% useless coins that do not add anything to the whole cryptocoin landscape.

With a few other exceptions I think Monero is just the right coin. Great developers, great community (more rational and quiet), less or no pump and dump and a good outlook.

Will keep my cash in Monero.

What I do want to know from the monero ppl here is what they think about ETH or whom the Monero competitors are?

I firmly believe that Monero has no competitors as long as there is no other coin that has mandatory privacy by default.

Is this refutable: http://monerolink.com/monerolink.pdf ?

Basic article about the research here: http://www.altcointoday.com/monero-transactions-traceable/

Good lord is it difficult to figure which currency is the "most" anonymous (Dash, Zcash, Monero, Verge, ZenCash etc).

Then, on top of that, which one has "enough" privacy for the masses. And which are easy/easiest to use?

I do feel like it only makes sense for one anonymous coin to survive long term. I don't think it will be added to Bitcoin in a fork. Believe it or not, the masses really don't care about their privacy.

Dash is the main competitor to Monero but it is going down as I lowered my bids on Dash.

Dear Trolls,
Duckburg, 09th of June 2017

Do you think some of the wealth will suddenly be transfered from Dash to Monero?
I am becoming slowly but surely bullish on Monero and bearish on Dash.

Best regards,
TrueCryptonaire

Somethings in the air definitly. There was no real monero pump in this altbubble. Every shittiest Shitcoin got pumped to the moon.
Maybe Monero will set the final nail on these years altbubble coffin Grin  huge green one please Smiley

What do you think about next Monero pump?
Where will be time for it, and what could be a news starting it?
Could we see the ATH in XMR/BTC pair or maybe ZCash will overcome XMR just now and share of Monero in anoncoin market will decrease?
Monero's pumps seem to be a lot slower, but they also seem to hold most of their weight. I think Monero is going to slowly gain ground but it won't hit a sudden pump overnight.

Kinda funny, although I think there should be 1 more category: "minnow," for people like me who own >1 XMR. I sold most when we jumped from >10$ to like 50$ in a several month period and haven't really bought back in.

Everyone who can read and write  should be a Monero GoldFish now.   But you are right I should work on sub 100 XMR Monero fish species a bit more.

How is ringct better than ct with mixing and stealth addrrsses? Hint its not

Hint - the whole chain is opaque not just some of it
Prove how ring sigs are better than tumblebit or valueshuffle. Only benefit I can see is that its done per node without external service although its not consensus driven so moot point. You are saying ct with mixing is not anon fully? How so?

One difference is the blockchain is opaque.  You can never know how much or how little I hold.  You can't see how much I send.  You can't see to whom I send it.  You cant see that something was sent at all.  You cant really even guess.  Everyone else's transactions are also private.  You can't even deduce or get a partial picture from a sybil attack.

Privacy is simple and baked in.  It's way better than optional, partial privacy.

Wait a minute, is The Nar-Whale a pocket whale?

It's been quite a ride. Shame about losing so many in my boating accident of course, but I still have a few.

Cashed in all my LTC for XMR (or MRO as I think it started off) it started off 'expensive' in 2014 compared to the lows of 2015, so I just averaged down by buying the hell out of it at the 25c to 50c level.

Even paid my son a few hundred in one of his wage packets instead of a couple of day's pay when he said he wanted to buy some.

I had to call him up last week and ask him round for an intensive course in handling his own wallet and how to cash out via BTC and Stamp etc since it has become a fairly decent stash of cash for him. It was just parked on MyMonero, which I didn't want to be responsible for any more, or decide for him whether to cash in.  Like a boss he said: 'No - I want to hodl it'

When I look back at the sub 50c Monero he got then, it makes me smile.  He had forgotten about them, he was totally bowled over.

Oh, yeah... ha ha, you too?  I forgot to mention that one time I'd stupidly taken all my flash drives and printed paper wallet pages out for the day sailing and -- wouldn't ya know it? -- everything blew overboard.  Srsly sucked, but c'est la vie, at least since then I've slowly built up a little bit again, right?

Really gotta try harder to remember NOT to do that again this summer next time I get invited out onto the lake for the day...

Big marketing for XMR: Lauren Southern singles out XMR, BTC and ETH when describing crypto to 257,000 subscribers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1JtJLRuqgo#t=5m28s

An articulate, social media-savvy spokeswoman can do wonders for a coin's brand awareness and market cap.  Amanda BJ pumped Dash The Instamined Scamcoin to $1 billion with only a measly 13k Subscribers and an abysmal 3k-5k views per video.

That is some impressive used car salesmanship, but nothing compared to what Lauren & Co. may do for Monero with her 260k subs and 130k views per vid.

The Alt Right+Sovereign Individual+Ancap+Libertarian+Identitarian+Trad alliance who follow Lauren is coming to liberation technology like crypto in general and Monero specifically.

Prepare your portfolios for a groundswell of organic demand for Monero's best-in-class machinery of freedom.  Cool   Cool   Cool

Would it be possible to get quotes from a few of these people to advertise in multiple videos and crowd fund it?  Milo, Laura Southern, Alex Jones.

I'm not a fan of any of em.  But they do have big audiences monero would appeal to.

Ooh an old timer's thread!

I started out in crypto in May of 2013 mining LTC. After scrypt ASICs came out I started looking for somewhere else to go and ran across this article. It's an oldie but a goody:

http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coins

It was important to me to find a fairly launched coin with a future and monero fit the bill. Been mining XMR since June 2014. I also sold my LTC for XMR. I made the mistake of going on vacation late last August with a monero sell order that I didn't think could possibly get filled. Of course it did so I lost a bit of my stash for much cheaper than I should have. I don't leave coins on the exchange anymore, but more recently I've been mining more profitable coins so I can dump them and buy monero. I've also got a few friends doing the same thing and have evangelizing a bit more. With the GUI and RingCT I feel like XMR is near-ready for prime time.

I've been reading the monero threads everyday for years. Feel like I know most of you. I was here when Fluffy Pony was just a mortal. When TacoTime was a person and not a fast food chain. When TrueCryptonaire seemed reasonable. I even googled "Barolo" to see what all the fuss was about.

This is a new handle because I forgot my old password and accidentally banned myself trying to get in today, but even with my old handle I only ever posted 2 or 3 times. I'm sure there are more like me that don't say much or anything at all.
