What is so special about XMR? It's anonymous... ok what else? Curious.

When you have anonymous cryto currency it is also  fungible. That means no one can say this coins are bad. Like let me give you an example.

You make an account on Coinbase and buy some BTC and send them to wikileaks. Coinbase will close your account.  You made a mistake here so lets move back in time when you made an account in Coin base.  You first send to some valet you control and from there donate to wikileaks. And all is fine you fell good since you helped a cause and they got money. Coinbase ofcourse dont really care, they just have some blacklisted valets and will not check further.  But sooner or latter that will change since bitcoin blockchain s totally transparent.  So they will still send btc to your valet but when they will see you sent  them to Wikileaks they will colour those coins and ask people not to use them and punish them if they will.

With sending Monero from coinbase to your account no one will have any ideas where they went further. Not who else donated to your account, or how much money is there.

I remember some lecture from one university professor from Belgium. He said you are anonymous or you are dead.

@StarrManUK

You made 3 posts here in this thread and all of them were just attacks. You called people here deluded, sheeps and unhealthy.  I find that quite unhealthy, maybe a mirror would do you good.

I'm just getting back into Crypto, I could be wrong but the Monero community seems to have an unhealthy and ungrounded amount of faith in the coin that's all.

And other crypto communities don't?  Roll Eyes

Here's a hint: Read about Hidden Champions. All of them have one basic thing in common -> specialisation.
Monero specializes on one simple (complex) thing: Being eCash. Nothing more, nothing less. And it works already remarkably well.

Maybe the amount of faith people put in XMR is actually a healthy and grounded sign of awareness.

XMR is becoming ded. We can all short this piece of shit and send it back to the real price at 0.0015

XMR is not even anonymous anymore and just like any other coin example NSR or DIEM. Time for polo to delist this scamcoin

Haha, oh how I miss the well constructed argument, "everything is scamcoin, scamcoin!!! scamcoin!"

XMR is becoming ded. We can all short this piece of shit and send it back to the real price at 0.0015

Isn't development alive and well? This coin doesn't seem dead to me.

Nothing but there is a bunch of sheep that love it despite this.

3 posts after four years dormant - odd.  But talking your book here is surely pointless when your investments appear to be elsewhere

NEM is waking up and would be a worthy $1bil cap coin.

Monero is still over $21 - it's holding value fine for me and has been for ages.

Expecting it to go up while BTC moons is not realistic.   If you have both BTC and Monero, you're fine.  Just be glad you're not in Dash Wink

Is that $21 in Canadian Dollars or something? LOL... showing $19.65 here now, on CoinMarketCap.  But yeah agree in general.

All during this "decline" it's only today, I think, that it finally dipped below the $20 holding point it's been on so strong recently.

So seems price in BTC is "going down" only mostly because BTC is going UP.

If you're a day-trader (ahem "gambler") looking to generate bitcoin profit by jumping in & out of the latest hot altcoin Pump & Dump?

Then yeah that matters I guess.

But IF you're buying this technology for the long-term world-changing effect it will have?  Probably not so much to worry about.

Oops!  Seems Monerohow follows Finex prices for BTC - sorry:

https://www.monero.how/

But I am still not concerned - just buying what I can (although I don't want to cash in BTC to do so, obviously)

the bitcoin price listed there actually says poloniex beside it ,maybe they changed the API ?
why would polo be higher than bfx anyway ?

The XMR/ BTC rate? That comes from Polo.  It's the BFX BTC/USD rate that raises the XMR value - if they took Stamp's BTC/USD rate the XMR/USD value would be lower.

It washes your dishes, fights ISIS and can peel off your fruits so you can enjoy life while all other coins incl. btc take care of your privacy.

Perhaps, but RSI is still a good indicator to watch. The daily chart shows an obvious downtrend now, Monero is in a corrective phase of a bull market. Lower lows and lower highs. The RSI can give a clue as to trend change. Once a bottom is in place and XMR/BTC price clearly is rising again just buy on a pullback. I find charts shorter than one day are not good for my trading, too much noise. I don't care what the USD price is. The time to buy Monero is when XMR/BTC is in an uptrend.

I would like to add: We are very near to the "end of the downtrend in XMR/BTC", one can play around near the bottom, but Monero has always shown sudden peaks in the past. This can mean for hodlers and those who value the XMR technology above the other cryptos the loss of precious XMR. For traders it is "just" missed profit.

Although the XMR/USD pair is not traded with high volume I would not discard it, we move there in the range between (tighter) Bollinger bands on the daily chart and right now we could see an upswing again. Do not forget that the XMR bearish trend is also just a result of BTC going up, while it remains stable in fiat. Combine this with the low RSI on BTC/XMR coming soon and the support lines on the daily chart and you have a better picture then with RSI alone.

I would also like to add that some updates are also around the corner as is the coinbase implementation of XMR which cannot be calculated into the price as it will influence the price additionally to the speculation once it is done. The XMR community shows continous and accelerating growth, the numbers of reddit subscribers is just one of them. Also I think a lot of XMR investors have realized after the recent pump of ETH where the price of XMR could be in already 1 or 2 years, clearly above 50 or 100 USD, so more and more are long term hodling.

I just know when the bottom is in I will change all my ETH to XMR as could others too.

Switch to a daily chart and watch for RSI to dip below 30

You want to wait till the daily RSI is low and buy then because in the past it was sure that from this point on XMR would go up. But others know this too and will place buy orders before that happens to be sure not to miss the elevator.
