Same here, very fast transactions and low fees make it a great coin for moving things around and when you add anonymity it's a win-win.Needs a bit more improvement when it comes to wallets, but overall I'm pretty satisfied with Verge despite all the FUD.

I just compiled the source code (Linux Ubuntu), downloaded a bootstrap (2.4 GB). Currently it's importing the blockchain from disk, been running about an hour now and 200mb completed, gonna be a slow process for sure.

Also, is anyone familiar with setting up VERGE to work through Tor + Obfs4proxy ? Any assistance would be appreciated.

Same here. I tired fighting with XVG wallets... grea coin but awfull wallets. All other coins wallets are ok but Verge... 

I can't synchronize for several days (Windows Tor QT Wallet v4.0.2). The synchronization process begins, proceeding slowly for several hours and then stops. How can I force the QT wallet to finally download all blocks?


I guess there's something wrong with Verge wallets. Many other cryptocurrencies are OK on my PCs in different locations... Even XSPEC (TOR-based, similarly with VERGE).

Decentralized Exchanges will solve a lot of issues such as this.

I've been into different industry on the internet, doing website design and development. I have known for a fact that all new technology or applications and designs always comes first on the porn industry. I was able to design some arts on the porn industry and I'll say, they really have a great imagination on graphics effect. That's why I think verge venture of accepting the coin to be used on pornhub is a great first step move. Soon, all industry will realize the great benefit of using verge. important is to keep the exact value on the date the transaction has been processed since the crypto price is heavily volatile. but i guess you keep this info.

I live in europe. I have to make all my declarations in euro. And i have to make all my payments to government in euro. So for me it is the same if i pay a bill in USD or in crypto. I have to calculate how much euro are these cryptos/dollars. I can of course not write a bill or get a bill in crypto. But i can get a bill for lets say 1000€ and if the company that wrote the bill accepts crypto i pay them in crypto. But as mentioned, it is the same if i get a USD invoice. I have to calculate how much euro are this. I could also write a bill for 100€ + 19€ VAT, and then i accept getting the value of 119€ in crypto.
I could also pay with or be paid in gold or whatever... It doesnt matter...

you just record the relevant USD/fiat price in XVG on the day you used it to pay.
you probably also keep a similar record of the date and USD/fiat value when you bought XVG.

of course another question is why you would need a privacy coin in the first place as a business.

Well, you can use any coin and instantly say  : Bought X for $19.52 from Joe's Crib

In my opinion you could make this a much bigger deal, if you would offer a discount when paying with verge. So you could big companies give a stimulation to buy verge and pay with it.

Actually right now it's not like that. How are you calculating VAT in crypto? And even more important how are you going to declare VAT in crypto, write offs in crypto to the tax departement?
Next thing is the profit/lose calculation. What are you going to write on your companies busines declaration? Spent 20.000 XVG for advertising? And how are you than fiting this against the USD, Euro or whatever profit calculation. Maybe there are some ways i'am not aware of, but in my european country at this moment this is for sure not possible.

Even one step further. Let's say you deal as a company only with crypto. You make 100.000 XVG profit and 40.000 XVG lose, you have to pay corporate tax on 60k XVG. So you are going to pay your tax departement for example 10k XVG? It's not that easy when it comes to companies and enterprises and taxes as you might think it is.

I'am far away to say there is no solution for it, but i'am not aware of one. Would be interesting to see if someone has, whatever country, a solution for this or how such cases would be handled. Just out of curiousity.
