All the S7 shipped out to customers where already affect the hashrate in that way.
I completely forgot about them doing testing, so im guessing its just people throwing miners back online with the prices going up.

You probably got that from a site that doesn't understand statistics 
Id say something closer to 11-18% is what id estimate. But then again it could be more, with the prices going up more people are turning machines back on, that and the S7s are still shipping to people.

With the tremendous expected increase in difficulty coming up is it a waste of money to rent hashpower now? Would it be better to wait until the difficulty rises and you get more hashpower for your money or does it matter?
That's the opposite of what most people would say... As the difficulty rises, renting the same amount of hashpower is less likely to find a block. However what you'll find is as the difficulty rises, rentals will get cheaper for the same absolute hashrate but be pretty much the same relatively... So overall, nothing much will change and you're gambling on what you think rental prices will be and so on.
Back in june 1PH for a day would give you roughly a 40% chance. The cost would be 11.5BTC
(numbers based on hashrate at difficulty change in June)
Currently 1PH for a day would give you roughly a 20% chance. The cost would be 6.1BTC
(current numbers based on hashrate of today, 738PH, if you calculated at the difficulty adjustment on December 6th, it would be a 25% chance based on the 560PH network)
Looking at numbers, the costs will stay the same on rented hash and chances of hitting a block. The hashrate will not.

There were almost 2% in fees from transactions in that block. I'm aiming to make solo blocks the reference for the largest average sized blocks.
That's a great goal, not only for network health (if only every pool has such priorities), but also for preparation of the halving next year where tx fees will make up a much higher percentage of the total block solve reward.

Yes indeed, I always pack the shit out of the blocks There were almost 2% in fees from transactions in that block. I'm aiming to make solo blocks the reference for the largest average sized blocks.
