Thanks for all the warm words! What you said, and reaction of people in the Chat almost made me change my mind :-)

But seriously, I am not saying "never", so maybe YD will have it's comeback. I just don't know yet.

THANK YOU! It's really hard to express how much I will miss YD, and how much I am happy for these 4 years - it was really fun. But as I hinted in the explanation, the real-world value of coins are kind of killing the fun. Not to mention the crazy transaction fees that kill the fun completely for smaller players.

No worries, I cannot stand doing just nothing, so I'll probably come back with something new. Maybe a distributed, consensus-based, verifiable game?

Thanks again, I'll stick around!
Cheers,
Ethan

Sad to see you go guys!
Hope that you had a fun ride and get that energy back.
And on the item of real-world value of the coins, I feel you...

All the best!

It's sad having one of the most reputable gambling sad go away. But if it is for your betterment, everyone will understand. I really am planning to invest to Yolodice's bankroll recently and this news came. Anyways, goodluck we hope to see new projects for you, or come back if you're ready again.

It’s hard to digest the fact that end for the time being is near. We do not know when it will be up and how long it may take - months/years etc. Being associated with it for now quite some time and had a good time till now. Many still wish and want that if possible, to investigate it and somehow manage to continue such an amazing site with many have their beautiful journey with the Yolo and making some good friends as well. Just wishing best and hope to see as soon as possible.

i really wish this wasnt true. i stuck in the site because i hoped that my investments would at least go back to what they were. instead, it is shutting down and i am minus on all 3 investments

-0.214 btc
-1.476 ltc
-98,889 doge

this is the worst investment i have ever made and now that it is disappearing it is just a loss

meanwhile the site has made for the owners

+430.917 btc
+6,946 ltc
+109,684,179 doge
+4,305 eth

so they have made tons of commission while a lot of us lost a lot of our investments. if we were still on the old method of profit sharing i think we would actually be ahead instead of so negative. our investments pretty much just went into the hands of the site owners

at todays prices the site has made the owners $41 million just since going to the new model if we include eth totals in there
I would like to point out that considering those values you listed as profit made for the owners is completely unrealistic.  There is a HUGE difference between revenue and profit.  ESPECIALLY when you say "in today's prices" when the site hasn't made any real profit in the last 6 months or so during this price surge, and a huge portion of that revenue was generated much earlier than this recent price spike.

I don't know the exact numbers, but I can tell you that a large portion of the owners' coins went back into the site and player's hands by means of faucet costs, referral costs, rakeback costs, site maintenance, and competitions and stuff on top of that.

You know investing in a site still carries risk, right?  The site can close like it did in this scenario, the site could be hacked, the owners could run off with everyone's coins, or even if the site continues to run, someone could win the entire bankroll.  Just because you're investing instead of gambling doesn't mean you will "win" every time.
This is correct, and that guy even said like this
never invest anything you are afraid to lose
And this
if you cant afford to lose it then why would you risk it knowing that there is a chance it all disappears?

And now he is begging for Yolodice to running again until atleast his investment recovered? Let me tell you something @arisatox,
never invest anything you are afraid to lose

We had amazing crypto casinos like Coinroll, PrimeDice, Betking but there were different reasons for each of them, they failed:
Coinroll didn't care about the project
PrimeDice - no one knows what happened in reality
Betking - turned into a scam.

But there were legends that went away, Rollin.io was a very active and good casino that went out of business, I think that was a huge miss at the moment but now, YOLOdice is going to leave us, that's really sorrowful. You know, it's hard to find as trustworthy crypto gambling website as YOLOdice was, there are only few that I can name that deserve my trust.

Farewell, farewell and godspeed <3

Since you have decided to close this business, it is possible that you put your site on auction and sell it instead of completely closing it ?
This way the site will continue to run but under the new management. I know some investors may be willing to buy a running business.

I don't think they are considering that option right now, perhaps they will just take a break and then comeback later. Yes, the fees are so high right now and that might be a factor for them, and probably they got burn maintaining the site for four years.

So I do hope that they will consider their options to come back with the same name, same management but with different goals.

When you auction a casino that has people's investments on the bankroll you can't just sell it to anybody. You have to make sure the buyer can be trusted to not steal the bankroll since the whole thing becomes wide open to them.

I don't know the size of YOLOdice's bankroll but I doubt Ethan would sell the domain to some random stranger on the internet.

Even if he sell the domain and casino, i will quit Yolodice as i will not trust the new people managing the same gambling casino. Since we would not know their reputation they can use the name of yolodice to scam people. I will not encourage this idea of selling this domain to any random person for money.
It's a pity, I'm sure some reputable platforms or companies might be interested... Yolodice is not the only reputable gambling site on the Internet. Moreover there are few platforms that 100% operate in LTC or DOGE in the crypto gambling land, so I'm sure some reliable compagnies could make an offer.

I doubt ethan_nx and Scott would carry out such thing. If ever that happens, I am certain that YOLOdice will not be as profitable and alive compared with previous management. It also entails a lot of financial risk.
Ethan didn't ruled this out and my consider the serious offers. If everyone is interested, he could contact him via pm for example. It is still hard to believe the news and I said April fools too but in February? Anyway as I said I respect their decision and hope to see the site running again soon.

If YOLOdice has been suspended, then there's no casino with 0% dilution fees on the investment features right now.
Looks like correct because only YoloDice offers this one.

I Doubt that Ethan and Scott will consider this because as what He mentioned below ? it looks like the Legacy will remain in their position through all the time of their Life .

These words are enough reason to say that the YoloDice Name will remain in theirs till the end .

I never thought YOLOdice.com will suspend the casino since there's a lot gamblers play and the LTC site profit already recover from big dump. I still waiting for the ETH investment can be opened as @ethan_nx say it's currently on the development. But well, whatever the decision we must respect it... Both @ethan_nx and Scott definitely already thought it seriously.

I hope it's just a March Fools' Day Cheesy

Thank you.
I'm also hoping that this is March Fools Day too Cheesy but hey it is what it is Sad.

I've been in the signature campaign of Yolodice for more than 2 years already and seeing it suspending in the first of March... kinda surprising TBH since I've been investing into it too and gambled a little bit into their dice. Lots of gamblers will be sad with this announcement. Respect to the owner Smiley

It's been awesome 4 years (a bit more actually,
but we are suspending YOLOdice on 1st March 2021

One of the saddest welcome for the New year and the new phase of Cryptocurrency that one of the most trusted and popular gambling site will be closing (Maybe Temporarily) because of the growing world of Bitcoin and altcoins.

I once wish and desire being part of your great and one of the high paying campaign here in FOrum that pays with Bitcoin and not Fiat base.

Hope that in time you will reconsider this decision and will come out with innovative YoloSite and not only offering dice but Casino games in totality .

no, we have not been hacked ;-)

We (Ethan and Scott) have been running YOLOdice for over 4 years now. Without much exageration I can say this has been the greatest adventure we had so far in our professional life. We were lucky enough to be a part of growing cryptocurrency ecosystem from its early days, but YOLOdice was our first "real" project that put our professional experience in the cryptocurrency world.

We've witnessed the Dice Era emerging with Satoshi Dice and entering its golden-age with the dawn of Just-Dice. And I am really glad that YOLOdice could be the part of the crypto-dice world!

For us though, dice games were much more fun when the cryptocurrency world was smaller, and the coins themselves were (sort of) detached from the real-world value. Bitcoin and other coins are much more than they used to be a few years ago. Crypto is goin mainstream in a big way. Cryptocurrencies are not for geeks any more, they became the cutting edge of the future financial world.

We still think dice sites have their place in the crypto-world, so if you want to start one — don't get discouraged. Maybe it's just us that keep complaining about the world changing :-)

Let's also be honest about one more thing — running a site like YOLOdice is no easy task. Server security, software development, managing equivalents of millions of dollars belonging to investors and players that trust you — we've been doing our best and we've put as much effort in running this site as we could. But this responsibility has started affecting our lives in the way we had not anticipated. It's been like riding a rollercoaster sometimes. We will be more than happy to take a break, take a deep breath and maybe then come back with something new. In other words, we really need some time off. Really.

Anyway, I think we have achieved something great here. By "we" I mean Scott, Ethan and you — all the players, investors, moderators and supporters. Thanks for your trust, for sticking with us. These were awesome four years, really.

We are not disappearing completely, so I guess we'll see each other again!

The roadmap is:

   - till 1 March 2021 — the site is fully operational,
   - 1 — 15 March 2021 — placing bets is not possible and we expect all balance-holders to withdraw their funds,
   - after 15 March 2021 — the site will be replaced with a static page and you'll be able to reach us only via [email protected]

If you want keep your investments open as long as possible, they will still be an active part of the bankroll till 1st March. After 1st March you'll be able to close your investments and withdraw funds from YOLOdice.

If you want to close withdraw earlier, you can actually do it any time.

More info at https://yolodice.com/#faq

Wouldn't it be better to delegate your job or sell the business? Just closing such a profitable business doesn't seem to make any sense.

Hi! ethan_nx and Scott!

As most of the members are saying, it is really difficult to believe that YOLOdice
has come to an end and I was indeed surprised that the announcement appeared when I visited my account early in this morning. It is quite unexpected, though.

Well, whatever reason it maybe I just want you to know that you really don't have any idea how much you have helped me - from accepting me into the campaign and to be able to meet some of YOLOdice
people in the site and to the forum itself. Hoping for the best to the both of you in your cryptocurrency journey ahead.

Cheers!
