I do hope that people will do this because what I've mostly noticed is that they will tend to continue playing because they want to chase up losses, but again, that is really a good move if we are able to do it because you tend to relax and think about the right move. This is like if you are planning to buy something but you should wait like 3 days to know if you still want that stuff. Controlling our emotions is really difficult, but once we are able to do it, then for sure we won't be addicted to something.
Recreational activities would do alot of help when it comes to dealing with gambling. We made mistakes in the past, and those faults may be haunting us today. Humans are predictable; the same is true for addicts; you must constantly be there anywhere there are significant odds or crucial games. There is no principle that can hold an addict; all he needs to do is accept that he is a gambling addict and then figure out good courses to go in order to get help. Not all emotional feelings or motivations. We are aware of our strengths and flaws, but revealing them will only make us appear more vulnerable and easy prey.
But most people will think that recreational activities also require money whereas it shouldn't because recreational activities can be done by doing many things, not activities that only require money. Humans have many reasons not to want to do something new that can change their lives or at least have new activities or activities that can make them leave old habits that don't benefit them. If a gambling addict can and wants to do it, it will unlikely take him long to get out of his gambling addiction problem. He could have something else to do and the important thing is that his mind won't be on gambling.

Self discipline is the key, they could be chasing losses, but I think it's more on the adrenaline, the feeling of winning again that put's this gambler to come back for more and then become addict themselves.

So really very hard, and although the solution is really very simple if you look at papers, it might be too complicated for gamblers as they don't want to open up about their gambling addiction to others, even to their love ones.
We admits our mistakes, and look for possible means to correct them. Addiction is not something we ought to anticipate happen to us; rather, we ought to seek out every feasible way to avoid engaging in gambling, especially when it is draining our bank accounts. Quitting gambling is not something that can be done immediately; it takes time and patience to figure out what is best for us. Self-discipline is one of the preventive measures to be followed in the system; it essentially produces solid effects when a gambler firmly adheres to the disciplinary standards.

Now, if you still want to gamble but you don't want to become addicted to it, one of the things you should do in my opinion is:

1. Only set aside an amount of money that you will use to gamble in a casino.
2. Don't think that you will gamble to make money, because if you do that, you will surely have a problem later.
3. Just spend a few hours staying in a casino to gamble so you can avoid what you don't realize is wasting time that you should be spending on important things instead of gambling.
While seeking medical help is a good option there are many gamblers which can leave their gambling issues behind without too much of a problem as their issues were just starting out, the ones that cannot deal with their gambling problems on their own are the ones which have been in that state for a long period of time or those which are losing a massive amount of money, and even then this is not the end of their issues, as even if they improve, now they will have to resist the temptation to gamble again every single time they watch a new gambling ad.

Don't you think it all depends on individuals?
Whom ever that wants to control himself or herself from being an addict would surely do that because what I fully understand most from people is that they centered their mind on always winning without knowing that alone have brought them selves down to constantly keep losing while gambling. At point of continuing to gamble and chasing lost is what usually attracts being an addict. We should try to reduce our focus and efforts and whomever that can adhered to it would surely know how to control himself or themselves in terms of gambling addiction.

Not just personality but willpower has to be there too, the body might be willing but the mind is not willing especially when it comes to addictions, have you ever asked why it is always difficult for smokers to quit smoking despite trying to quit, and what am trying to say in a nutshell is that it is always difficult whenever the line is crossed and its already an addict, and the issue of were their mind is always centered on always winning is the problem, and they keep playing on till it turns to a daily routine were they must bet everyday, the best thing like you said it should not be an everyday thing.
not just mind but also spirit , because our spirit can get over our will power and our desire so combining all those 3 surely will be your way to quit and to consider being a good gambler.
addiction isn't just a daily routine instead this turns as obligation for all gamblers that suffers such.
I think first thing to do if you are feeling mental issues that may be caused by gambling is to give a break. Pause on your gambling experience. Spending time with family, friends, getting fresh air at parks around, jogging at close heights etc will definitely help. After that its best to return with small amount of gambling to not feel worse if you lose. That way gambling can feel lot more like game than its money making job. Professional help/assistance will definitely help listening your problems and creating awesome solutions.
Yes, by looking for new activities that have an atmosphere of joy, such as gathering with family or going to places of entertainment, it can help to calm the mind so that what happens in gambling can improve a little.
Not a few gamblers do this when they have suffered a big loss.
I've proven that actually looking for peace when I'm stressed because of losing gambling can make me better and after a few days I can play more intelligently and in control.
or if cannot find that way , then gamble together lol ..

they will enjoy with you and of course might find becoming a cool way of gambling .

Apart from the gambling budget it is also important to allocate a limited amount of time for your gambling activities. By setting a time limit, you can ensure that you don't spend excessive amounts of time gambling and prioritize other important aspects of your life.
Establishing boundaries in gambling is no easy task, unless one's mind becomes aware that there are more important things to do than gambling. Even with limits set, individuals tend to push those boundaries further, either by increasing their budget or by spending all their time on it. Restricting someone's enjoyment is exceedingly challenging.

I once met a gambler who shared that they quit gambling not when they successfully set limits on their budget or time spent playing, but when their mother passed away. Their mindset changed when they no longer had their mother by their side. Overwhelmed with sadness and struck by grief, they chose to rise above their circumstances and evaluate their past mistakes, including their gambling habits.

Another method I often employ to steer clear of gambling for a longer duration is by gathering with friends and engaging in any activity with them, as long as it doesn't involve gambling.

About your suggestions, I support and already practice the first two mentioned.
In fact, this is the minimum necessary to have control over addiction.

However, regarding the third item, I believe that a person can spend a lot of time in the game and not be addicted. If, for example, she manages to control her expenses well and also control her losses.

I have friends who spend an entire Sunday afternoon playing soccer, and they aren't addicted or have any problems because of it.
So, even in gambling, if there is self-control, I believe that the time spent is not an issue.
Of course, that time spent gambling cannot be getting in the way of other day-to-day activities.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
I really like the fact that you detailed out your points and that'll really be made explicit to anyone. I read through the comments and an OP said something - he said... "Don't chase losses"  I see a big problem in doing that... It's dawn on you to decide whether or not you wanna stop wagering behind close doors ( cus right there, nobody is down to coach you on what to do)... But atleast, I love the fact that they're being told the intricacies of over betting.
People, on the other hand find it very difficult to stop wagering most especially when they've lost alot already - this will only restructure a plan to make you lose the more... Cus the more you look, the less you see.

Truly it depends on individual and willpower. If an individual is disciplined to control him/herself, I do not think gambling addiction would be a challenge or a thing problem to battle with. Most people do set boundaries for gambling but at the entire end, they step or cross the lines all in the name of chasing lost games which they forgot that in every game there must be a winner and there must be a loser but for the fact that they have recorded losses, thy would want to recover back and end up making more loss. Self control should be a must if one wants to gamble.
Yes its true on which it would really be depending or basing up on entire will power of a certain individual in speaking about quitting or completely stopping with gambling. You would really fail out on doing so if you arent
really that having good self control and will on quitting on gambling and this is where usually people fail on this situation on which they cant really be able to stop because they arent willing on doing so. Usually majority of people or addicted gamblers would quit up completely is on the time that they would be experiencing that lose of huge financial on which this is always the case. Quitting is never that something that you would be minding on the time that you do still have money on your pocket. Regret do always come at the and but people are really that not that minding earlier on what are the possible consequences or things on which you wouldnt
really be able to expect to happen on your life or would really be coming into a point or on such situation. This is why its better to avoid it all as much as you could or early as you can before its too late.

This isn't a bad advice, although, from my experience, telling people to seek help and control themselves when they're addicted is throwing words to the wind.
Have you ever known any drug addicts, or alcoholics? Go to them and tell them that they should spend less on their addiction and control their habits. See where this leads you Wink

We all know how we should quit and addicts know it too, but they are unable to due to the weakness of character.
But its not bad trying to throw the advice outside maybe some of the addicts can still grow a mind from the constant advice given that can help them withstand this habit of theirs and moreover I have seen someone who have discipline himself to actually reduce his gambling act because of the huge losses and problems he had to encounter.

IMHO, no amount of advice can make someone quit gambling specially if he is already a compulsive one and for me (many might not agree), one could only quit gambling if the reasons are health constraints or financial, I mean he is already drained out of capital that he doesn't have money to gamble anymore unless he will resort to illegal act to acquire money which I think not a very good idea.

The real problem is how to convince the addict that he is suffering from addiction problems!
Most of the people who have gambling problems that I have met (as I said in another reply) don't realize they are sick and when you tell them that they need help, they refuse to accept the truth. They will tell you that everything is under control while it's not. Recognizing the issue and embrassing the sad truth is the most important step toward recovery.
This is the reality with gambling addicts. People just gamble and when they're at the level of addiction they just say it is common and I'm normal. To get out of addiction first of all the person should have the self willing. When they don't find themselves addicted the recovery phase won't happen. The realisation happens when they don't have anymore option left to gamble, particularly when they weren't able to manage the funds for gambling think of getting out of addiction.
It is very difficult to convince an addict that he is addicted to gambling and always feels that he has no signs of addiction because as long as he has money in his savings, he will definitely think that if he is addicted, the money in his savings will definitely be gone. even though without realizing it, the signs of addiction have indeed appeared in him, it's just that slowly he will soon lose all the money in his savings after that, he will become a very bad gambling addict because he thinks of losing very big money and chasing after the money that has been lost.
sometimes the mindset of being overly confident makes an addict stubborn because if his self-confidence is too high, he already feels that he is right and believes that gambling gives him big wins, so it is very difficult to convince the addict.

This activity call gambling is such an interesting one because when an individual starts to cross the thin line between addiction and no addiction, they know it. When they start chasing losses, they know it. When they start spending more than their gambling budget, they know it. When they start spending more time than necessary they know. Some choose to nip it in the bud at that time while some others lie to themselves that it is not what it looks like.

For me, anything you hide from anyone, a loved one or friend because you are ashamed you'd be judged, you probably should look in to it and cut down on it.

I must admit that most of the numbers given above are applicable to many gamblers specially those undisciplined gamblers that need to escape before they end up losing everything including their wife and family.
we have managed to read multiple times those former addict how they confide their mistakes in life about gambling.
so best not to become one.

Time management and money discipline. As long as we have both of that in ourselves then we are good.
Spending too much time in front of the computer or your smartphone can also ruin your health. I have been there, fatigued eyes and it just healed recently. It scared me a bit that I might need some surgery but thankfully it's okay now.
Also, wasting too much time on gambling will lead us to be irresponsible in our daily chores. That means we will have a bad environment maybe a dirty place or a bad odor starting up. This is not good too.
There are so many effects when we start getting addicted to gambling and it will be wise to take note of that because those are also signs that we are on our way to being succumbed to gambling.
Quitting is not easy, but controlling it is not as long as we have a firm resolve to never be too absorbed in it.
