I dont know what altcoin to hold for this year. I think, i must choose altcoin it's price is quite stable, and when i sell my coin i can get big profit by them,
I earn few altcoin in this year. Like riya, bqx, shadow token, zen, cdt, opt, proxy, ixt, xuc and couple of coins. I love to hold some coins. Like bqx, shadow, opt and ixt. Because my little experience those coin will bump hardly in future. Doesn't matter what altcoin it is if you hold for 1/2 years you can profit from it a lot (in my opinion). Happy treading...
Eth, Strat and Ltc are my flagship altcoin this year. Because it gives me a huge profit. Bitcoin that i hold untill today has grown more than x4 since january. They are good altcoins, that's what makes me dare to hold them.
Though there are so many of them with good potential, my favorite alt coins are as follows-
Onion and Monero - due to privacy
Net/OHM - due to stable earnings
1337/IFLT/HYP - low valued gems
Terracoin/OkCash - for wonderful community and coin development

I recently today started to hear talk about ARK, seems very interesting, it's a fork of LISK and does have some really innovative ideas, this crypto is focusing more on the consumer rather than institutions. Take a look for yourself and let me know what you guys think.

My favorite Altcoin is MCO, STOX, ADEX. These are all altcoin from ICO projects and are listed on major trading platforms in a short time. This altcoin has brought me a lot of profit recently and I have invested this long term altcoin for 1 to 2 years.
OMG, Ark and LSK until the end of the year. Will see huge gains for sure!

For me it's ethereum. 2nd on market cap and big gains.
Another alt to look into and it is actually at a good price to guy into right now is Hshare, it trades on Binance but a very attractive coin. It has going to the 30's and 40's now taking a huge loss today at 9 ..10 dollars. Worth looking into.
my favourite is ethereum followed by stratis . ethereum has given me quite a huge gains and stratis is due to give me profits . and also verge is one of my new favourites .
I like to always talk about the one that are not as popular as the Ethereum and Bitcoin , and you know just the popular crypto's, which I do love as well, But my personal favorite are Nexus Earth and IOTA. These 2 Coins as amazing coins, we just recently saw a nice upside to Nexus and it was a very healthy and strong one. And IOTA also has started to showcase its potential. Just thought I would share. I don't really know which one to choose. All seems so unstable this year 
I think for me it's ETH and NEO. Cause both coins value are grown up very high. Which take time just couple of months.
I think as a newbie I want to hold Litecoin why? Because on my research, litecoin is a peer-to-peer Internet currency does not has enormous fee and can enables instant to anyone in the world. Litecoin in my opinion is decentralized payment network which is cannot be control or something like that cannot be prevented by the authorities. And also it has a faster transaction confirmation times which some base markets make them useful.
My favorite Altcoin of the year is OmiseGo, they are already working with McDonald's in Thailand, this token will be huge in future

I think ADX and MCO are the 2 altcoin I like the most because I bought a lot late last month and have been very profitable. I hope in the future 2 altcoin will continue to grow in the future and can be applied in life
You are very lucky still to have altcoin Monaco (MCO) whose price keeps climbing up into the clouds, I regret last month I sold it, if I still holdMonaco (MCO) maybe right now I am a lucky person ..
