It's true what you say, if that happened to me personally and the borrower was irresponsible in borrowing money to gamble, then I would feel annoyed and disappointed with his behavior and attitude, and maybe the friendship would be a little strained because of his mistake.
 We all know that it is very risky to force yourself to gamble with borrowed money because apart from having to pay, there is also a high level of trust, if it is wasted then the relationship will be destroyed. Therefore, avoid borrowing money from friends to gamble, it is better to use your own money so as not to add new problems to your life.

Yes, that's true because there will definitely be influences that will occur on the people around us that we won't realize. Moreover, if our emotions are first affected because of the results we receive from gambling, our mood will probably change so that when we interact with the people around us, it will clearly influence them. By gambling more often, we will spend more free time gambling rather than bonding with the people around us or our partners. That will make our relationship with them strained, and in the future, there may be more frequent misunderstandings. But if we can balance gambling with spending our free time with the people around us, maybe it won't interfere with our relationships with them.

It is normal for friends and relatives to be annoyed with the gambler's attitude because he does not gamble responsibly, especially if he borrows money and cannot pay it back, of course his family, friends and relatives will bear everything that the careless gambler does. Therefore, his relatives do something to stop the gambler, but in my opinion, even though they want to make various efforts, if the person is basically addicted, it will be difficult to stop him, he will do whatever it takes to keep gambling.

This is why every individual certainly cannot think about the impact, such as experiencing losses even though they have reached their last drop of blood and being forced to borrow to continue their activities, where this will happen again, namely losing all the borrowed money and not producing anything. Gambling addiction is very dangerous and it even feels like gamblers are being brainwashed into continuing to gamble before winning.

Aside from influencing them, the burden that you're bringing to them that worries about you is going to be that much. Instead of them have nothing to worry with, a portion of their mind is thinking about you and how it is going to be with their relatives as well that you might influence. It's an equal and domino effect for the majority of them and you'll have to think about it because if you're an irresponsible gambler and you don't think the welfare of others but only yourself, there must be something wrong about you. It's okay to gamble on your own, spend your money and lose them all but when you see people around you are being influenced none other than you, you have to take precautions and have to adjust for their sake if ever you worry about them too.

The gambler who want to shine in the game should not teach about the gambling to their relatives,because the game was not easy to learn.If your relatives had loss of game,sure they blame you and some may ask you to repay the loss.At that time you will understand my words of not sharing the relative value,because they take some time to learn.But they ask you to teach the game.Teaching the gambling is not the easy one,because the game can be learn with the practical experience.The import one is you should not be over confidence in the game after one big win in the gambling site.

From the part of the world you are chatting from there is an African adage which says that a thief has no shame but the relatives of the thief is the one that bears the shame of the thief. That is also what happens in gambling. The person addicted hardly understand that they are addicted but it is the relatives that understands that the gambler is addicted and looks for solution.

This is the reason why it is advisable to anyone to listen to their relatives and not necessarily their gambling mates when they are going too deep in gambling. This is because your family are the ones that will tell you your true image in the eyes of the people.

When gambling, it's better you don't do it in front of your kids, because you might think they know nothing about what you are doing and won't try it out, but don't be surprised that kids might go behind your back and start gambling. The worst part is that they won't gamble responsibly, they might even end up getting addicted, and you will find it difficult to stop them from gambling. When gambling, make sure it's hidden, and don't let your kids know about your gambling activities.

There are a lot of ways in which your gambling addiction can affect your relatives lives. Sometimes it's not even all about you influencing some of your family members. If you haven't seen someone sell their properties to gamble before, then you will have heard about it from different places. People do end up selling their properties just because they want to gamble, some do sell their houses, and they will end up gambling with the money, which is going to render their family members homeless, some are not going to provide the necessary things the family members need, the money that they are supposed to use for that, they will end up gambling with, and their family members will end up suffering. Seriously, there are multiple things addicted gamblers do that do affect them and their family members.

Not just relatives but your closest family will be affected if you are an irresponsible gambler. You might also influence one of them. But the most sad part here is that you're not having quality time bonding with your love ones because you spend more time on gambling.

I certainly understand this and at some point it's one of those things that if its not directly hurting someone, besides their feelings and how they feel about their family member doing what they are, I mean that sucks but it is what it is.

It's not like say suicide by a mother or father whos still got young kids that needs and depends on them to grow and mature in to a decent person.  However if they commit suicide once they are of adult age, then it's one of those things that effects them but, it was their choice and what they felt they needed to dos so...I dunno, it's a hard topic to discuss in some areas.

It is wrong to say that addicted don't have or show remorse or regret for their gambling recklessness and all that, most addicted gamblers I've meet actually do not love the way their lives have turned out, but simply do not know how to help themselves.

I once had a friend who was a chronic gambling addict, one day, we got discussing and I asked him why he has not stopped gambling seeing it's not helping him financially, and neither is it helping his marriage, but rather, it's destroying everything as his wife was always complaining and complaining, he told me that it's not like he doesn't want to stop, he said he himself is tired but don't just know how to stop, that as long as there was money in his pocket, he somehow always find himself gambling even when he really does not want to knowing that there is alot of things to do with money.

This short experience i shared here is to prove to you that some gambler actually does show remorse and regret for all their mischievousness and so on, but then, because addiction have strong hold of them, it looks or seems like they don't really do.

Unfortunately, many players have to pay for their failures in gambling and the trust of their loved ones. And this is a very high price, and almost every gambler who has undergone rehabilitation measures (treatment) for gambling addiction says that he would be ready to do anything if only his family would look at him with the same confidence as before. Unfortunately, it takes years to earn, but disappears in a second, after several immoral acts. But it’s still good that gamblers come to this, but there are lonely players who have no one to help and will plunge deeper and deeper into their sins.

Some things are just meant for adults and not the younger ones so that it will not corrupt them as they grow, we should better keep it that way. I don't think this is hard either, it is all about us knowing the time and where we do adult things including gambling and keeping it away from those who are supposed not to be privy to it. By doing this, you are saving lives as you never can tell how much it could be devastating on the young ones, especially if they become addicted to it as they grow and it becomes uncontrollable for them. I don't think they can also forgive the person when they grow older as they flash back at it. This happens a lot. This is part of what we are referring to when we call responsibility in gambling, it is beyond the responsibility of gambling itself but also how it affects your life and the people around you. Even if you are such that is responsible for your gambling and also make money through it, you shouldn't let the younger ones know about it as the money-making sense of it is what they will be targeting not minding the risks involved. It might have been too late for them to realise this.

I don't think that the relatives will have much of a case in this situation because casinos will not close their establishments just because of reckless gamblers if they are cooperative, they can agree to not allow the guy inside the arena so that they can't gamble with them, but if they wish, they can simply refuse to do so and say that it's the responsibility of the relatives and family members to stop the guy from coming to the arena for gambling and they can't do anything if he comes with money to gamble since it's their business.

They should exclude the guy from the arenas so he doesn't get to spend his money there. However, it's better if they handle the matter themselves instead because you can't blame a shopkeeper selling his stuff to someone who keeps coming back with money because they are running their business and they are working just to get that money, so they can't refuse it.

There is this African proverb that people says, 'What an elderly person see, even if a young boy climb the tallest tree, he will not see it'. This is not about tree, child and elderly person. It's about what you see that those guys are not seeing. They see gambling as a Place to runaway from poverty when it is meant for fun and makes little change for passion; they are running from poverty to become homeless.

I did not only read this online, it's something I have experience personally from people that gambles all their life. They love gambling more than they love their stomach, they are ready to sacrifice their last money to gamble, they see every opportunity to  double their money and gamble, from look of there appearance they even look unkept and unhealthy and they will never listen any advice you give them.

Sometimes, I blame the government about there ways of gambling but this is not about basic needs, we have even the rich that have this character in gambling, they have went from been rich to becoming nothing.

Those are the addicted gamblers, when you visit a local gambling house, then you see gamblers like that, some of them end up using all the money they came with to gamble, they will tell the gambling agent to pay if they can win, so they should be permitted to gamble more, and if they can’t win, then some gambling agents won’t allow them go with there mobile devices, some time addicted gamblers are always disgraced at gambling house, that alone is enough to stop some people’s addiction, but they won’t care, if they are disgraced today, they will still go back the following day to gamble.

Even when some addicted gamblers are being insulted, they don’t even care about what people say about them, they always keep on gambling and the only people that are always put In shame are there family members, they are the once that are always taking the responsibility.

After talking about the ills of gambling addiction on the individual and their relatives or family that is if they are family oriented we should strike a balance by talking about the positive aspects of this effect on the individual and their relatives that is if they are also family oriented. Or actually there could be no effect at all. This is not always monochrome. There could be outliers as well and no experienced. The question of effect could come down to who is gambling? If the person who is gambling is the father, mother, or breadwinner of the home then we could observe an effect since these people wield a huge influence on their homes. However if it the the child who is still a student and a non-provider their gambling is likely not to affect the lives of their families since they have no influence and are just kids.

Let me share a little experience, I have a close friend, he is a good person, we even have the same passion for gambling. we often gamble together, and in the same place. in our city, roulette and baccarat were the most popular forms of gambling, including the ancient slot machines at that time. my friend is a rich man, he has a lot of property and business. as time went by, fiat online gambling emerged. I focused on fixing myself, my friend stuck with his gambling. in short, he spent all the assets he owned, including his property, at the gambling table. and finally, he owed money here and there. the point is, the story is almost the same as this thread. in the end, it was his family who shouldered all the debt problems.

however there are points that I disagree with what you say in this thread. I will quote him, "Theses sets of gamblers don't have remorse nor conscience about their gambling lifestyles". so, before we judge someone, it would be better if we got to know them better first. because there are many factors that cause it, apart from habits. there are many who regret what they did, but they have difficulty helping themselves to be free from their addiction. I hear many stories, tales, even in our community. in fact, they need help. apart from what I said, also with the contents of this thread, the one who is most responsible is ourselves. because, we ourselves allow ourselves to have no boundaries in this enjoyable entertainment. so it is important to remember and apply that responsibility is the most important part. we can be stuck in the past, or for some of us who are still having difficulty dealing with addiction. the important point is, have self-control, be responsible and learn from experience. make gambling part of your enjoyable entertainment, no need to be afraid of addiction. because, in fact, we all have self-control that we are born with. the problem is, do we want to get used to it and discipline it? if so, we will automatically only play according to the portion we can afford. apart from that, we will not involve our family in the hobbies we enjoy. so, the answer is simple, we are free because we are not harming anyone.

Everyone's way of gambling could affect their relatives, depending on how they go about it and the figure they represent or the role they play in the family they are coming from. If they are from a family the whole family's responsibility is placed on them for survival, that's when the gambling lifestyle of them, if addicted to gambling could affect their relative's life. But In the situation, where the person is not the main figure of the family, their gambling lifestyle if found addicted won't anyway affect their relatives because other relatives of theirs are financially okay in terms of taking care of their family

this is the reason we are here to keep saying it over and over again and never get bored of reminding each other that keep trying to be a responsible gambler, set limits on yourself so you dont become an addicted gambler and this all must be really paid attention to and this negative impact changes very quickly. life for someone who initially lived a healthy life without addiction but became very bad when he became addicted.
always think about a healthy mindset, really appreciate the money we have and understand how gambling works, that it's all just entertainment, use small money to gamble and think of this small money as providing profits to gambling owners to be able to develop their business bigger and provide new game that can entertain us.

this is the kind of mindset that a gambler must have, dont expect too much from gambling because we will never be able to win big if we are not lucky, whereas big luck sometimes only comes once in a lifetime and all this can save us from gambling addiction.

Increasingly, I always hear about the craziness of gambling addicts as OP said and of course it is the relatives or family who bear all the burden of shame for this addictive gambling behavior plus he (the addict) borrows money from relatives which is never returned.
with this, let us continue to learn to gamble responsibly to become healthy gamblers.

Specifically, this is a gambling board and it is expected that only gambling related topics are to be discussed so on that sense, there shouldn't be any form of romantic tolerance about irresponsible gambling. Let it be preached and cautioned cordially so to whom it may concern can take a vivid note of it.
Hence  @BIT-BENDER,  talking about how not to push everything to the gambling may sound kind of consolidations or encouragement to such reckless and addicted gamblers in the sense that they may ignorantly find excuses out of it that afterall.... "They are not the only addicted persons whom had ruined their lives" with the thought that they are not alone on the mess.
Without going contrarily, lets call the spade a spade so that every misconducts could be conciously identified.

And yes of course there are series of engagements that can affect the family such as the drugs and related mentioned but the bottom line is that reckless and addicted gambling could affect gamblers relatives.
