For the 'ordinary' guys, like me
I downloaded & installed the 'new' wallet to my Win7 x64 laptop with ZERO hassles or problems - it had never had any wallet on it before so it was a totally 'clean' installation.
10/10It finished syncing the block-chain a few minutes ago - it has almost THREE TIMES as many network connections as the main wallet on my PC, and that has every node that's been published here in the .conf file
10/10I have made small test transactions to & from the wallet, no problems
10/10- I'd appreciate it if one or two of you out there could make a
small test-deposit there too (spare a Shekkel for an old ex-leper, gov?)

Of course, it's not possible (for me!) to test the 'coin control' features until transactions are matured.
So, with quite a reasonable 'bag' in my main holding wallet, I won't be rushing to update until it's gained the "Royal Seal of Approval"
The Official Tech-Team are checking all the things they need to right now, they'll make an Official announcement when they are happy. But hey, you know these types, they'll take their time until they are certain - as it should be!
But speaking as an normal user, I'm quite satisfied that this thing 'does what it says on the tin', at least on Win7 x64.
This is an observation not a recommendation, it is TOTALLY up to the individual what they do, and in NO WAY is anyone connected with the Coin or the Community responsible or liable for any untoward or unforeseen shit that happens as a result.
... but maximum respect to the Dev, and the guys who backed him, for making this happen
