Have already requested cryptopia to open Zeit/btc pair. Let's hope they open it.

Anywhere we can go to request the same?

Bad news from cryptopia. They closed the LTC/Doge markets. Pity! It was my favorite exchange for zeitcoins. Cry

Market Closing

Due to being unable to provide any kind of realistic or accurate ETA on both the DOGE/LTC markets being resumed, we have decided it best to close these base markets at this time. Please close any open orders, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

For anyone who isn't looking to stake, he would still need to sync the wallet and transfer the coins from the exchange to wallet on the computer right?
If he does not want to stake, he can leave his coins on the exchange, but he is trusting the exchange completely when he does so.  Not recommended.

And when the wallet backup is made, does it also include the blocks?
When you use File , Backup Wallet , Only the Wallet.dat is Backed up.

Let's imagine I made the wallet backup, and now would like to restore it..and there's already a new wallet version out there? What would I need to do?
Follow the same steps as here :
1. Download the wallet for Windows.
2. Confirm Hashes match.
3. Run the wallet.
4. Download & Install BlockChain Snapshot
5. Restore /Copy your wallet.dat into c:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Zeitcoin
6. Run the Wallet (Zeitcoin-qt.exe - rescan) and it will show your Balance.
(Rescan takes a while , but makes sure your balance is correct.)

What I am looking to do is Install wallet, transfer coins, take backup and save at several places, forget about it and look at it when the coins are worth a lambo (LOL).

Just one more question please; what is a bootstrap.dat file and what is it's significance?

Bootstrap.dat was the old way of fast syncing before We started using the Snapshot.

You would make a bootstrap.dat by copying the blk*.dat files into 1 file,
Then by placing the bootstap.dat file in the zeitcoin directory, it would sync from the bootstrap.dat file instead of the internet.

Bootstraps only work for brand new installs, and your wallet still runs thru and verifies every block , which ties up the CPU and Memory.

Snapshots are bigger downloads, but they don't run thru an verify every block, they just start syncing from when they were created.

Comparison, if we made a snapshot and a bootstrap file today and begun syncing them at the same time.

The Snapshot install would be fully synced within an hour.

The Bootstrap would take ~ 2 or 3 days depending on the CPU speed and Ram.

* Snapshots can be used for Brand New or Existing installs if for some reason the blockchain on the hard drive gets corrupted.*

For Windows user.

Please confirm if these steps are right ?

1. Download the wallet for Windows.  √

2. Confirm Hashes match.    √

3. Run the wallet.   √

4. Because it's going to take a month to sync the wallet because there's a huge amount of blocks to sync, so download and install the snapshot so sync is quicker.  √
    BlockChain Snapshot

5. Run wallet again.  √

6. Encrypt the wallet.  √

7. Take backup of the wallet, preferably multiple

8. Unlock the wallet , to Verify Your Password is Correct.

9. Transfer your coins from exchange to your Wallet Address.

10. Start Wallet & Sync, once Synced, Unlock Wallet so it can Stake
(Coins have to be in the Wallet a minimum of 24 hours before they can stake.
The Larger the # of coins in a block the sooner it will stake.)

11. Take backup of the wallet, preferably multiple?

Also, what is wallet.dat and what is it's significance? What other things do I need to know so that I don't f up ?

The Wallet.dat is the file that holds your ZEIT address & Private Keys.
It is the Most Important File , that you have to backup religiously to make sure your ZEIT is Safe.
Without your wallet.dat , you can not access your coins.

Mainly Backup it up Daily if you Stake A lot , but at least once a week to be safe.
I like to include the date, in the backup, With the ZEIT wallet Open, Click File , Backup Wallet .
Multiple copies, on Multiple Devices is the best way to do it.
That way if one of the backup drives died, your have a 2nd or 3rd to restore from.
Flash Drives, USB hard drives,
Recommendations for people that also backup to a cloud provider, use Winrar or another program like Truecrypt and encrypt the walletbackup with a 2nd password.
Can't make it easy for our friends at the NSA to steal our coins.
Also if you use a cloud backup , please keep a Flash drive as a secondary backup as cloud providers don't always have your backup when you need it.

Is there a possibility that Zeit may be stored on some multi coin wallet ? Like Jaxx ? Or perhaps in an offline wallet like Nano S?

You have to ask the multicoin wallet developer.

Ok, I downloaded the zeit wallet, but have the problem "out of sync" all the time. What to do?

Dude,  Read the 4th Post from the Top of this Page.  Tongue
Hint:* Click on the Blockchain Snapshot Link*

All Newbies, at least read the page you post on, as the answers to your questions may be a few posts above your question.

Do I need to withdraw ZEIT from cryptopia? Or can I keep them there? Do they vanish after some time?

We have a saying , Never Leave more coins sitting on an exchange except the amount you are willing to lose.

If you want to leave them there, they are stored by Cryptopia so it is up to you.

But keep an eye on the forums here and Cryptopia's CoinInfo : https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/CoinInfo/?coin=ZEIT
As long as the Wallet Status is listed as OK, then No Worries, if they ever change it to Delist , then you need to get your coins out asap to another exchange or a local wallet.

If you are the type that only checks on your crypto once a blue moon, then moving the majority of your coins to a Local Wallet would be a smart idea.

Thanks dude. Found the Application Support folder. Do I create Zeitcoin then bring that big file in there?

If you have started the wallet once, the directory already exists.
You can unpack the file there.

Cheers,
Ray

Yup, can't find it in that folder or other searches.  hrmmm......

In Windows , we have to enable viewing of hidden files,
Maybe your Mac is the same.

Congratulations to all at such a price for a coin. How many years we have been waiting for her. Now the main thing is that the developers come up with something new for the coin to make it fly higher.
