Bushido, please let us know your next steps with zerovert, are you working in the background on developing it further or is it abandoned - advise us either way.

Next steps are selling the rest of the premine that he might have left, and if it's already all sold, then the next steps are hookers and blow.

He probably knew this would never work because of the bloat, and decided to cash out while the cat's still in the bag.

Simply ignoring us is not really acceptable behaviour and as you still play a active part in vertcoin although a more reduced role these days your conduct on this coin reflects badly for vertcoin as well which is not fair to them / the vertcoin community.

I hold both vertcoin and zerovert so would personally like to see both succeed, please advise asap.

Kill zerovert. Backport features to VTC.

No way. We have no proof that zerovert is stable, tested, or even open sourced at this point. The 25kb *per* coin bloat on the blockchain is unthinkable for a long-term solution for any serious coin. Also the centralised questionable solution to the original creation has to be thought about.

There are many many questions that open-sourcing ZV would need to sort out prior to any inclusion in any other coin. Doing otherwise would be *seriously* reckless.

request to bushido/gary - burn your premine. open source ZeroVert. Its dead otherwise

Or merge this with vertcoin.  We can have stealth transactions or anonymous transactions with one coin.  And maybe we can fix the inflation thing too.  So many hard forks ahead.

Getting stuck syncing on block 3728 2 weeks ago with the 8.7.2 wallet. Obviously not worth recovering my holdings if the coin is dead though.

forked or dead?

This was merge-mined with Vertcoin. Vertcoin did a planned hard fork for an algo change on 12/13 around 6AM GMT, so there needs to be a wallet update for Zerovert, I believe.

Both wallets sync'ed up to the same block. I sent 0.1 coin first to check and when it arrived and confirmed in the 8.7.2 wallet, I sent the rest at a cost 0.02 fees. Could have saved myself hours if I tried this after the first failure...

****Anyone else trying this method, send a small amount first*****

I've tried on both Vista64 and Windows7 x64 and both accepted the old wallet address but fail to reveal the coins and gave the same error doing a rescan. I have restored the 8.7.1 wallet and sent the coins to my 8.7.2 wallet successfully. My 8.7.2 wallet still has the old wallet address, is there a way of removing it ?

By the way thanks for trying to help.

Huh.  Surprised that worked.  I thought they would be on different forks.

There's no real reason to remove it.  The way I'd remove it is by dumping and importing the private keys I wanted to keep, but that might not work for you.

Help.....

Using version 0.8.7.1 I dumped my private key and, on another machine, loaded version 0.8.7.2 then fully sync'ed. From the console did an import private key and my old wallet address appeared along with the new wallet address, but not the coins. Deleted all but the wallet.dat and re-sync'ed, still no coins. Can I send the coins from the old wallet to the new wallet as I even tried using the old wallet.dat but the new version failed to load.

Help......

Hi,

I think I can help you.

The old wallet.dat can only be used in 0.8.7.1.  Do the exact same thing you did before.  Start up 0.8.7.2 without a wallet.dat in your roaming/zerovert folder.  Let it fully sync.  Then, importprivkey yourprivkey in the console.

If your coins don't show up:

edit: Step 0: Close currently running qt
1. Windows key+r
2. Type cmd
3. Hit enter
4. C:/restofpathwayto/zerovert-qt.exe -rescan (ie. if you put the folder in your C: drive C:/Zerovert/zerovert-qt.exe -rescan)
edit: 5. Hit enter

That fixed it, right?

Did'nt work, I tried several times getting the same error on startup:

EXCEPTION: St12out_of_range
vector::_M_range_check
C:\Program Files (x86)\Zerovert\zerovert-qt.exe in Runaway exception

The old wallet still syncs up to the latest block, why can't I just send them to the new wallet address?

New wallet address is the same as the old wallet address.  Your coins are safe.  You just aren't able to access them.  Trying to send them to another address will create more headaches and makes no sense.

Try this again and it should be easier since you did it once already:

Step 1: Back up everything in case it doesn't work.
Step 2: Throw out roaming folder.
Step 3: Move the Zerovert folder you launch with (that contains zerovert-qt.exe - the 0.8.7.2 version) to your C: drive.
Step 4: Sync up 0.8.7.2 wallet
Step 5: Go to console and do the importprivkey yourprivkey thing
Step 6: Close running qt
Step 7: Windows key+r
Step 8: Type cmd
Step 9: Hit enter
Step 10: Type the following in command console:
                  C:\Zerovert\zerovert-qt.exe -rescan
Step 11: Hit enter
(Try to do steps 7-11 before another block is mined.  (Meaning, you want to be synced while doing 7-11.  That's up to 10 minutes so it shouldn't be difficult; just don't take a break after you close the qt.)

edit: Also, you have to make sure the program is closed before starting it again through windows or command console.  Otherwise, you'll get an error.  You can click that little arrow near the bottom right to see if it's still running.

edited this a few times for clarity

If you follow that exactly and it doesn't work, what OS are you using?

I had a similar problem, don't remember the error message though. I erased the Zerovert directory in "Roaming" completely, then ran the new wallet.
