I prefered eth  Grin
At this point, buying etherum has the most meaning, what is going on, gives the basis for thinking that someday it will be valued far more than bitcoin.
At this point will be a good way to buy the bitcoin and you could get free bitcoin segwit2x in the future and dump all of them and you can try to put your free money into the ethereum. that was the best step right now.
To buy the ethereum is quite good.

I think if you bought bitcoin at the time, you might have made much more profit.

I can't even begin to comprehend how some people on here devalue Ethereum's protocol even when 40-60% of all alternative tokens are ERC20 or start as ERC20. If anything Satoshi wouldve wanted something like Ethereum to exist in the cryptoworld. BTC and ETH are both symbiotic to one another. Both are great investments and honestly the best route is to diversify your savings 50/50.
You cant blame them since people do really have different minds when it comes on investment things which id they would able to see a thing on a certain coin they would really stood strong without considering on the possible opportunity on the other side but yet as a wise investor i would really go on 50-50 partition between bitcoin and Eth and i agree on what you have said on which both things are symbiotic on one another.
That is right, we can not know what is the cryptocurrency for the decision of whale!
If they choose Bitcoin while you just invested in Ethereum, you will miss the chance make profits from Bitcoin and reverse. Wink

Eth will be good choices instead of bitcoin.10 eth is a good amount for holding.ETH has a bright future that I believe.so you can buy ETH coin without any hesitation.
You can equally spread your budget for smaller rates and buy more eth, which can make your earnings much bigger than investing in one currency.

Ethereum is the best investment if you can invest for 5 years than minimum 5000$-10000$ increase after 5 years it is my personal feedback. So i prefer only Ethereum not Bitcoin.I am fan of Ethereum.

Three months ago, 10 ETH was made at 1 BTC. I think it is necessary to achieve 8 ETH = 1 BTC.

With $3000 to invest, is there any advantages to either, with the expectations/hopes that they both will continue to grow?  Just trying to see what others would do, as I plan to let this initial investment sit for 5yrs minimum in a cold wallet.

Thanks ladies and gents!

i think 10 eth is the best compare to 1 btc. actually btc has good demand present but next month eth price going to raise. so you have to prefer to take eth coins.  now eth coins has more demand in the market. you have to invest 5 years or 10 years then you getting more profit. so try to learn few important techniques from coins trading then you have to invest. i think it is good idea. so choice is yous friend.

I think that the diversification is most importam. And i prefer to buy both.
Diversification may be important but looking at the trend of things, I will rather go for BTC first and chill out a bit before diversifying.
I feel you though, but ethereum has given me few in a short period compared to what bitcoin has given me. Market is unpredictable anyway and table can decide to fall at any side, so in that case I can just under consideration go for few eth.
If we have to choose one from the both options then definitely second one is more promising in giving benefits and that is why I would also buy bitcoin. Holding it for few weeks can give me hundreds of dollars and that is what I seek in any investment.

More profit in less time. So far, bitcoin has been able to do this. Eth is also a good option but it comes at number two with a large gap with number one.

Well at the moment you can buy more than 17 eth with only one btc, so i think that this thread is a little bit outdated. I dont know why ethereum is freezed at $300, it looks like nobody is trading with it, and a lot of people are dumping their eths, just take a look at any exchange and you will see that there are more sellers than buyers in Eth/btc eth/usd markets.
Obviously that Btc is 100 times more better than eth.

I think when the ratio was 1:10 like a few months ago was at its peak. It is quite unlikely that Ether can reach 0.5 BTC, with this BTC constantly rising

Stick with BTC as that is the best option you have right now since ETH still has many problems and fixes needed before it returns to its previous price at $400 and above.

With such a rise of BTC/USD rate ETH will go to $400 quite soon.

As I understand altcoins rise in fiat price when BTC/USD rate rises because almost all of the altcoins are traded to BTC.
