with 3000$ you can buy 0.5 bitcoin and all invest too eth then buy some token. you can make about 500$ in a month when everything comeback
I would´t go for only one. and with 3K i would´nt go to only those two. I would definitly diversify a little more. I like a struture similer to this one.
- 50% BTC, 25% well established alt or ALTS ( can be ETH, but my fav is XMR), 15% Smaller cap/price coins/tokens ( plenty to choose from, DGB, XBY, KMD ), 10% dividend paying token/fund ( my fav is TAAS).

i am an ethereum believer and ethereum hard fork is near. they announce that they run test net already now, ethereum can goes to $1000 after hardfork and start the PoS phase. if you have money to buy 10 ethereum better buy 10 ethereum then 1 bitcoin. but i have no doubt that bitcoin also can goes to $10k at the end of this year.
If for a tactical and fast gain, 10 eth is better, I also wait for eth news like your explanation, but my comment about price increase after eth into POS, will still make the bitcoin price higher, whatever happens to eth will always benefit bitcoin. However I still choose 10 eth for daily trading purposes.

Bitcoin is the king now. People arround the world only care about bitcoin. Maybe ETH will be go up in the future but I think that will need more time 
I prefer 10 ethereum instead of 1 bitcoin, why? 10 ethereum may exceed 1 bitcoin, although usually people think 1 bitcoin equals 10 ethereum
if hear about portfolio system, i think you can use the method to investment. Don't put All Apple in a box.
The system of not putting everything in the same investment is good but once you become good at trading that rule does not need to be followed that strictly, after all, if you see an exceptional opportunity to make money you are not going to pass on that just because you need to spread your investments, you go all in and then enjoy your big profits. 
I think it is better to have 1 BTC than 10 ETH because as we know BTC is the best and most valuable cryptocurrency of all time so I think it is better to have 1 BTC than 10 ETH.

I guess it would be wise have your investment split between. Normally I would choose 1 BTC because i believe BTC will see more than 10k in a year but as i said i rather prefer having all my money on more than one coin to lower the risk.
That is the right thing to do never put all eggs in single basket and to minimize the risk its better to diversify our investment in multiple coins but as bitcoin looks more promising then any other coins I will put majority of my funds in bitcoins.

BTC will always be more powerful in compare to ETH so looking at the future prospects and future benefits I will go with 1 btc as price of ETH can crash at any time but bitcoin will always keep on rising in long term.

10:1?Yes you can make money if movement of ETH would be volatile and would rise up since it can give good multiplication of profits on your eth holding but regarding on the risk on losing funds too it also fast which it means if you can able to take the risk then its a good choice on have 10 ETH compared on 1 bitcoin when it comes on shorting on its price. will become

I believe that eth goes back to 0.01, lately very ico using ETH, and many eth developers for project financing, I believe this makes the currency a bit scarce, maybe I'm wrong!
hope you wrong. many ICO success but it make me feel bad too. If their dump their ETH to market. This will make ETH price back to last year priceThere are many other applications too. So the price will not drop that low.
