I guess it is best that if you will invest such amount in a long term investment, it should be invested not in just one coin to atleast 3-4 coins. As for me, it would be profitable to invest 50% of it in bitcoin, 20% in eth, 10% in litecoin, and then 10% in dat. I see great potential in these coins and for me, investing in it would be worth it.

But theres a lot of good altcoin other than ethereum and bitcoin so if I have a $12000 I will put them in moner and Eos why because this two have a great Developer and good concept that will boom in the market this is also for long term investment.
Eos are know as anti ethereum with blockchain 3.0 it will launch there product this year that can cause to pump up the price.

Here is my set of tips for crypto investments:
1) remember that all coins and tokens are high risk assets;
2) as a result from p.1 - you should never invest money that you are not ready to loose at once;
3) always diversify your investments, so compose an investment portfolio;
4) as for cryptocurrency portfolio, its certain part should contain flagman coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

You have handsome amount for investment,you are going to enter in very risky enviroment,but reward is also very high.You should split your investment into BTC,BCH,ETH,ALC,XRP,all of these coins are good for short term investment except BTC $ ETH (little bit).Invest in BTC & ETH for long term because both of these coins has great potential to provide higher return.Anyway you should also make your research on behavior of these two coin by yourself,this will clarify you when to invest,when to withdraw,when to reinvest.These two coins are more reliable and has highest market capitalization (ist BTC,2nd ETH).You can multiply your investment by reinvesting your surplus return.

Put 12k in NEO if you only choose one coin. Else you can make a portfolio with 6k NEO, 3k ETH and 3k LEND.
You should hold until you make at least 3x. Don't ever sell for loss.
There is always a risk in investing crypto currencies. You make it minimized by buying good coins.

I suggest you try to look for an ICO that is legit and also an ICO that comes with a bonus like diwtoken , but if you are looking to a safe invest why not try to invest in a top 10 in token @ coinmarketcap : https://coinmarketcap.com/tokens/ . Just pick the right token that you feel you can gain money .
