Pakistan is not doing good but Pakistan is the only team which do the unpredictable result. Well, I guess Pakistan may reach the semi at the maximum.
Think about last Champions trophy. No one thought that they will win it but they did. In 1992 world cup they showed their ability to win the world cup when no one believed them. Anything is possible for Pakistan team. Their history speaks for them.

That's what I said too. Pakistan is the most unpredictable team in cricket. It was a wonder that they won 1992 world cup, I didn't watch but I had read the story of Imran Khan. That's how I know. Anyway, it's not something by which we should measure a team. I would rather bet for Ireland if Pakistan would play against them in world cup, hahaha.

Guys, can Australia be a good competitor for this world cup? Right now, I only can think India or England as the possible winner. What's your take on this? I think Australia is lacking of a good balanced team, at least they don't have the necessary batsman fot the top order.
Australia is so far doing well but I doubt they will be able to win the trophy. India is the perfect although anything can happen in big tournament.

Well Australia, South Africa even New Zealand is playing good cricket. You can not ignore the Pakistan team as well. I will totally ignore English team. May be they will play good cricket but I doubt they will be able to lift the trophy.

My bet is for India so far.

If I am not wrong then from my observation all these days I guess Raja is from Pakistan and JSRAW is from India. So there will be subjective views by each others from your own life experience however one thing is very sure for me. Cricket is a religion in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

I hope some day Cricket will wash away all those political agenda.
I hope too. We love cricket and it should be out of any kind of politics. Everyone should be equal here. India is my favorite team after my own country. I remember I never missed a single match of India back in 2003-2012. After that for some reason, I quit watching cricket match more often.

I've "a lot" of disagreements with a few of your points (though I do agree with the rest of your points) but I think having further discussion on this topic will only derail this thread and we'll go totally off-topic. Let's continue posting updates regarding that matter, but let's not discuss it further.

I do condemn that statement of Mushtaq Mohammad though; that's totally non-sense.

Yup agreed, no point discussing politics here in this cricket thread.  I noticed that Maady raised that question here in the start, so I blame him-her for that. Cheesy

And you are entitled to any disagreement, and I respect your point of view if we happen to indulge in any political debate in the near future.

We all are biased to some extent or to some topic, and I am no exception.

Its very touchy subject but I am in the minority in this situation so here is my honest opinion with no sugar coating.

Cricket is not just a game In India and Pakistan when playing against each other. Since 1978 cricket always used as a political tool due to its popularity. If by any chance cricket becomes irrelevant in both countries then no one will talk about this. Similar to other sports. Any knowledgeable Pakistani can back me up in this case. 1978 test series, when India lost to Pakistan because of famous biased umpiring. In the end captain, Mushtaq Mohammad said and I quote " the victory of Muslims all over the world over the Hindus."

It's true that it works as a bridge between ordinary people, but We are already close enough we don't need cricket as a reminder. And forget about any bilateral series for next decade or so.

India has already done some crazy stuff and I don't want to see more. I am a fan of Indian cricket team. If India abandon the match, probably I will never watch Indian cricket match anymore. Politics should be stay out of sports. In fact.

What crazy stuff? You are entirely entitled to your opinion but plz clarify.

Similarly, Indians are entitled to theirs. No one celebrates Eid, Diwali, x-mas in India when someone dies in their home and cricket is considered as a Religion in India. So, Sorry if some Indians are calling for a total boycott of the match against Pakistan.

I am one of them but angrier, according to me only boycotting match against Pak is not enough. It should be a complete boycott of the tournament, not just one game. Otherwise, its just hypocrisy of BCCI and current leadership of BCCI doesn't have the spine to ask for complete Ban on Pakistan. (if you think it's not possible and ridiculous demand, then please check the history of South African cricket)

I consider myself a cricket lover who was trying to get tickets for the last 2 months and was willing to spend 1000 euro for India-Pakistan clash live in the cricket field for World cup. But now I am not.

But why are you only boycotting watching Indian match, let's start lobbying together so that we can kick India out of ICC? Oh, wait no one can because the Cricketing world can't afford to lose India, right? Due to ICC majority of cricketing nation dependence on India's revenue.

In fact, sport is one of the way to increase friendship/brotherhoodness among countries.

Lets set up a joint team of Taliban and one sect of Pak army also. They are the one who keeps creating problems for ordinary people. On the ground level, there is no extreme hatred among the regular peeps except a love-hate relationship, which is more like a banter nothing else.

I don’t think India will pull out of this match, if you see matches between these two Asian rivals generate huge amount of money for all the parties, and none will want to loose that. I’m not sure why you would stop watching matches if they decided to skip it, if their government orders they will have to obey it. In the past both countries have interacted via cricket matches, so it’ll be interesting if they can set aside their differences for the sport.

It is true that it will be government decisions and the board has clearly the doubts that they will obey the orders what the government will decide and their will be no questions asked on this. So things will clear out in coming time regarding it. Also Ganguly and Harbhajan has clearly opposed the match which will be played.

I agree; the match between India and Pakistan should not be abandoned by India. Cricket is a sport - it has nothing to do with the political situation across the nations.

Sachin Tendulkar would like India to play against Pakistan as well:

I also think India should play against Pakistan. It's not a series in between them it's World Cup and the match matters for other teams as well. We are living in the modern world and we need to separate politics from sports. It does not look nice to me. I respect others views though.

How about India finds Pakistan in the final (hypothetically). Will they decide not to play that match too?

India and pakistan match is in red flag due to recent terrrorist attacks. and india can boycott the match against pakistan in world cup. if it really happens that means pakistan will get extra points.
What do you guys think about India stance on this and if India boycott this match then can pakistan is in World cup winning race?

I did not want see that I always enjoyed India vs Pakistan matches. Cricket should not have political interfere.

You got countdown timer and schedule of the tournament into OP but you are still missing out the major part of this discussion that must be providing few direct link to betting sites where we are able to bet on cricket matches. I guess most sportsbetting sites are not yet preparing themselves for this big event of cricket followers and cricket betters hence my suggestion may sound like too early one.
I will find some sites and will suggest Raja too add them. May be he is having busy time in real life.

England has come back strongly and so is SL as well as in their previous matches they had won where England chase 350+ in one day match against the WI and SL had won against SA fro a tough situation where their loss was sure. If such matches continue to take place anybody could win the matches on that particular day.
There are nothing especial about England team. They will do better in tournaments but when it's time to take the world cup they will fail. They have proven it many times.

I partially agree with you here. England seems like a strong contender to lift the cup along with India in my opinion just like many others, but their key players need to retain their form no matter what.

On the other hand, I don't see Sri Lanka lifting the cup just because they are doing well recently since their team basically is not as great as their past teams. They don't have Murali, Vaas and a Sanga to guide them all the way.
India is my favorite for world cup and they are perfect team too. On the other hand, England seems to play well since they have the benefit of playing in home ground. It's a great chance for them to win the world cup. SL has no chance even.

That would be a good idea. I hope Raja will update sooner. OP is looking nice with the countdown. I didn't notice that before reading your reply.
