We're getting closer to the long-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, and I think that it deserves a separate thread for discussion & analysis, so let's have it! Smiley
It is always good to have separate topic for every tournament and for tour matches. In the past, some people have tried to have separate topic for IPL and few other things, but most people prefer to contribute with same aged cricket topic. I really could not understand their reasons. It seems like they prefer to have one topic for one sport.

Those who're against separate topics for Cricket-related leagues/cups just simply don't like this sport! Grin

First match/final match: 30 May/14 July
I am just curious to know this community's opinion on : Who will be the predicted winner of final match and who are the favorites to play that final match ? I guess India and England may meet for the title, the top 2 countries of ICC ODI ranking.

I've got a feeling that the final match of the world cup will be played between New Zealand and England. Even though no one's mentioning New Zealand in the possible-cup-winner list, I still think that they've strong chances of winning the cup.

‘CWC 2019 once-in-a-generation opportunity’ – Tom Harrison

https://www.icc-cricket.com/news/949923

The way he speaks in the article it feels like he already believes England will win the cup, though England is my first choice i will carefully study any injuries their players may have. I also feel other teams are not in great form going into this World Cup, and will be exhausted as many will come from playing IPL. The Indian team that is the strongest will not be fit, as playing in IPL will surely effect them, and I believe non IPL players have a edge in the cup.

I completely agree with that; shifting the focus from T20 format to ODI format takes time, and the players who're going to participate in the 2019 World Cup shouldn't really play in the leagues like IPL and PSL. The teams which are probably going to be distracted the most through these leagues include India, West Indies, and Pakistan. Roll Eyes

I also feel other teams are not in great form going into this World Cup, and will be exhausted as many will be playing in IPL prior to the World Cup. Indian team that is the strongest in the world currently will pose a strict challenge to England, it'll be interesting to see how they perform in England.

“South Africa must be my favourites but if you ask me who can win it then it is anybody’s game. If England do not win at home, the No 1 team in the world right now, they’ll never win it,” he said in an interview to India Today.
Just a glimpse on their last 5 matches.

Well, Pakistan's tour to South Africa is going to be interesting and will give us a better idea of current form of South African team. The 5-match ODI series between these two will begin from 19th January, after the 3-match test series (which will commence on 19th of December).

South Africa is definitely not my favourites to win, as they always choke on the big stage time after time they have thrown it away I don't think they'll win it. England is my favourite to win it, they have the home ground advantage and in tournaments like this that's a major factor. Then I would consider Australia and India to be in the semis at least, these two got good teams but don't see either of them lifting the World Cup.

South Africa is a big team but when it comes to big tournaments they are failing to make it,maybe that curse will be broken this time.

Still we have time for the 2019 World cup to begin so we really have to wait until the beginning of tournament to pick the favouries since the form of team play big role in winning cop.
