Fun game by the New Orleans Pelicans versus the Chicago Bulls.
The bench players' performance in the last quarter of the game made it look like it was a regular season.  Cheesy
NOP 129 - Bulls 125

The Pelicans look great, and Zion looks good (I can't tell if some weight was lost). They are a solid team and their bench looks promising too with Willy Hernangomez who won the Fiba Eurobasket MVP.
If healthy, I think they have a great chance to make a top seed. They will probably be one of the favorites this season.

It's worth noting that the Pelicans were able to reach the first round of the playoffs last season without Zion. So the current Pelicans roster definitely has good potential, and it will be interesting to watch how they perform this season. However, I wouldn't call them favorites because there are many other teams that look stronger than the Pelicans.

If Irving and Simmons will cooperate with Durant for sure they will be the toughest team to beat this season so hopefully for the past practices they made after the end of season they already settled out their prides together with willingness to work as a team so that they will not be placed on bad position because if they fail again for another round maybe they can call this big three as another huge bust.
Let’s not really put too much pressure on Simmons because he hasn't played for a whole year, and before that he played a bad season where he wasn't even liked anymore by the end.

So, it would be tough for Simmons to provide something magical for the team, maybe some defence if he can, but that’s about it, and on top of that he doesn't really have that passion for the game if you ask me, that is his biggest problem. Irving could be a good help on the court, but he is a crazy person who creates trouble off the court for everyone around him, and I feel like it is not going to be easy to keep getting questions about Irving for Durant neither, he rather has a smarter teammate.

I don't usually watch pre-season games because they aren't serious games. But I'm also excited at how the healthy Pelicans will end up this season. Their line-up is already good so all they need now is to perform well. I heard that Zion is on a seafood diet. Hopefully, it's not a giant octopus or tuna per meal. Cheesy

Chicago Bulls acquired veteran Goran Dragic and Andre Drummond to boost their line-up this season. So I am also hoping they can also perform well. I want to see Vucevic bring back his Orlando Magic stats.

I don't see any issue from Simmons. I'm more with Kyrie giving way to KD as the alpha of the team.

But like what you have said, if they settle their ego and trust one another, they can give competitive games to whoever they will be
playing against with, the talents are huge. It's more on how they will execute the system and how they will play together with a same
goal of winning games. Still too early to give credits or criticism, better to watch them play and see if they will improve the winning chance
of this team.

These guys are really something and they need to do some difference in this upcoming season because the fans are expecting so much from them.
Fans are hoping that they will see better improvement to these team after those drama, by looking with how they played in their debut seems that they are all good and comfortable playing with each others, building chemistries still on its way for these three superstars.

Quote
These preseason games are just a warm-up and nothing really matters what the outcome of it these guys really need to take care of their bodies not engage in some real games until the real season games come.
For real fans, I know they understand that pre-season is just a warmup games and there's no bearing but for critics what we expect?

Quote
I think they won't gonna make the same mistakes where they missed a number of games without playing together and with Ben Simmons added to the roster, they can really make a difference this time if they can avoid getting seriously injured where they needed to sideline for 2 months and up.

If they can maintain their good health, the winning chance is higher and the chance on chasing the title is not by far.

Brooklyn Nets starting to look like a fun team to watch again.
The first five are Irving, Durant, Claxton, Simmons, and Harris. I am just glad to see them all back and healthy again. Harris is feeling it who made 2 threes in 15 minutes.
Simmons defensive help can be seen and Irving being a playmaker will be a game changer for them.
The 2nd team looks solid too with Patty Mills, Edwards, Morris, Royce O'Neale, and Sumner. Seth Curry didn't play yet.
A win for the 76ers without Harden and Embiid. Their roleplayers are pretty solid too.

I'm glad that we are finally seeing a healthy and complete Brooklyn Nets in the opening season. I am not a fan of Kyrie and Simmons anymore but I love this season to be more competitive, I want all the teams to possibly compete well so I like what I am seeing with the Nets. Kyrie should understand that the world doesn't revolve around him. The Nets would be a serious contender if they can set all their egos aside and work on their chemistry. I want to see KD's remaining NBA years fruitful even if doesn't mean a title rather than staying in a mediocre team.

There's still a big question though, can they be consistent until the end of this season? We both know that they are capable of destroying any team that is on their way, but we also know that the Nets weakness is also their own players. The big three is a threat to any team in the league if they will work as a team. Nonetheless, it's been good seeing them again playing together as team. I just hope that they will be consistent so that we can see an interesting season this time.

As long as they are healthy, I'm pretty sure they'll be consistent. I hope that they already build good chemistry as that is the most important thing for this team to work. Durant, Irving, and Simmons, these are superstars, so it's just normal that we have a high expectation on this team.

I think a lot of people are.  I'm actually rooting for this kid and hopes he makes it in tes of getting his head together.  I like that Nash said he doesn't care if he never shoots.  I know he doesn't mean it but shows at least the organization is behind him.  With Durant amd kyrie on the court he doesn't need to shoot much at all.
Well, even with the loss against 76ers I believe the Nets just played as if it was an exhibition game, the Nets stars players didn't spend much time playing, and I imagine this game (despite the big difference in the final result) was something to analyze and make some adjustments, because when the regular season starts, the Nets have great chemistry

I think it's going to be a lot better than the years where Golden State had all of their current players including Kevin Durant, or when Lebron "took his talents to south beach" and he, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh all completely dominated.  At least we don't know for sure what teams is going to win, because for a while there we did and it was ruining the game of basketball.  At least for me anyhow.
Correct!
There's a good competitive spirit again.
Mavericks should also not be underestimated, they are one of the teams that fought in the West Finals. Then there's the Grizzlies if only Ja Morant was not injured during the games of their series against the Warriors.
Murray is also back, partnered with Jokic they can dominate the West again.

East is also filled with teams that are packed with star players and the fan favorites are scattered. It may be Giannis, Embiid, Tatum, Butler, or to surprise us the Raptors with no superstar but are good defensively and at making plays.

It's really looking like NBA will be another boring season if this is how it goes. Some teams have a huge cap problem, but they do not care and pay the luxury tax thanks to rich owners, and some teams do not even try to win, they just give up before the season starts.

So, we are going to watch maybe like 2-3 teams to win, and we are going to see the rest to be either tanking, or trying to stay in playoff spot, but not even have a contending chance. That's not going to cut it anymore, this needs to change, it has been like this nearly for 10 years, we really need teams that could rival each other, not move away from each other, it really sucks this way.

I still remember the time where it was Cleveland and Golden State that is playing in the NBA Finals for, I think 4 years or even more.
That's more boring that what currently the state of NBA is right now. At least this time, we don't know which teams will fight in west and in the east. The team that we keep saying will dominate are the ones who will be eliminated in the playoffs.

With regards to tanking, we know that there really are teams who are tanking every season for them to get a good pick in the next draft. For sure there are teams who will do it now again because there is the top prospect, Victor Wembanyana. Rival teams for me are a no-no because it will be more exciting if we will see more teams trying to compete with each other. Last season, there are many teams who are competing with each other and there are teams who we expect to be in the NBA Finals, but they didn't. Still, I agree with what @ChiBitCTy said that the competition right now is way better than it was years ago.

That's the era wherein Lebron is really on his peak or prime but at the same time Curry and his Warriors are also making a run so that is good to see that they appeared on the finals for many years and become rivals.

But it didn't last long because Lebron and Kyrie breaks up move on their separate careers. While the Warriors had injuries to their key players. Lebron won a ring after that and so is Steph Curry.

And so I think Warriors can still make it to the finals with their current roster while Lebron and the Lakers will have another difficult season.

There is a report that Karl Anthony Towns loses approximately 17 lbs already due to illness.

Quote
Towns spoke to the media Monday for the first time since falling ill and said his weight was down to 231 pounds (he's listed at 248), but he didn't reveal the nature of the non-COVID-19 illness.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34720033/sources-minnesota-timberwolves-karl-anthony-towns-was-bed-rest-days-due-throat-infection

And so with that, he won't be available for pre-season games as he is still on the recovery.

Just interesting if he will permanently keep around that fighting weight around 231 pounds are Rudy Gobert might due the man in the middle for the Wolves and KAT playing power forward more often.

It could turn out this way but let's give some of the new look teams a shot. I'm interested to see what the Wolves will bring to the table after their "blockbuster" trades and the return of a fit Zion for the Pelicans.

Not happening with the way players are tossed around as business piece or with the players running to other teams when their feelings get hurt.

I agree. The NBA was LeBron vs the Warriors for like half a decade. Before that it was a half decade of LeBron vs whoever gets out of the west. I have no idea who will be in the Finals this year, but I know there are a lot of teams like the Pelicans and the Bucks that have potential to create some matchup nightmares. Then there’s the Heat and Sixers who could stumble their way to the Finals. Out west is a little less competitive, but we need to see if PG and Kawhi are truly healthy and if the Lakers are back in championship form before handing the Warriors the ring.

And as a matter of fact, I've seen them being the preferred team in the finals together with the Lakers. A completely healthy roster could lead them to the finals. Although, that's a matter of question when they're already in the actual season.

It's different from some of us here. Just like the old seasons, this is another exciting season to look at because of the new drafts and as well as new sets of rosters.

Just like the game today, Sacramento Kings vs Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers could've destroyed the Kings if they wanted to do it but that defeats the purpose of the pre-season games.

Sure, the Lakers could have won the Kings, but they didn't even try. LeBron and Westbrook didn't really do anything in this game, even though both played 15 minutes. However, it doesn't really matter because the results of preseason games don't affect anything. Nevertheless, this game also showed that Davis looks fully healthy, considering he was able to do a double-double in 15 minutes. Hopefully, he doesn't get injured before the regular season starts.
