JJ Redick is a young and inexperienced Coach, this was a risky deal for Los Angeles.
The Lakers and JJ Redick signed a 4-year contract, I hope they are successful, if not, things will go into trouble for the Lakers.
Let's see what kind of Lakers we will watch in the new season.

I guess they don't have a choice but to try the experience of JJ Redick inside the court. Since their first choice didn't accept their offer since Dan Hurley have other plan for his coaching career.

But still its good that Lakers give Redick a chance to handle the coaching job for them since then see if he can bring some changes on their rotation. The question if he could able to question the decision making of Lebron inside the court since usually this will be the issue of coaches who handle him. This is tough job for Redick especially on handling Lebron, but guess he need to deal with it since he need to have a experience to add on his portfolio on his new career chosen after he retires as a player on NBA.

I don't know, but there are tweets that says the Lakers are seeing a young coach Spo in JJ Redick and that's why they hired him. Or a version of Steve Kerr when he become the head coach of the Warriors and brought them 4 rings and created the dynasty. However, I don't know who is in the management that has this vision of comparing JJ to this great coaches.

Anyhow, only time can tell, let's give Redick a chance but for sure there will be a lot of criticism to the Lakers management again, just like when they hired a inexperienced Darvin Ham to lead them which in turn didn't suit well for Lebron.

It seems to me that Lebron was instrumental in getting the Lakers to appoint JJ as head coach. If this is true, then we can already assume that LeBron will stay with the Lakers for at least one more season. I wouldn't be surprised if Lebron and the Lakers management already decided that the Lakers would sign Bronny in the offseason. Lips sealed

Great call by the Thunder. Josh Giddey has been inconsistent of the first 5 and he performed bad in the last playoffs. For sure Caruso's defense and experience will help his new team to become better in the next season. Thunder still has future draft picks to come and they will have no problems putting Caruso on the starting line up or in the bench depending on their style of play.

I expect this young team to at least proceed in the second round of the playoffs in this coming new season. SGA proved himself a great player and leader while his young team mates gained the much needed playoffs experience.

They need someone that possess both offense and defense someone like Holiday type of a player who really can contribute not just with the defense but also with the offesive side, I think we all knew how Carusso played, he can be a great addition to support SGA orchestrating their defense and also carry some loads if both SGA and Chet having difficulty to scores, Carusso can bring that help.

Nah, I don't think that Carusso will be their offensive weapon to replaced Giddey, there's a lot of offensive firepower already with OKC. SGA and Chet and the Williams as well. Most likely that is the issue with them, they have a lot of offensive firepower but without anyone playing good defense.

Let's see if how Thunders will play with this trades and how they will use Carusso with their campaign in this upcoming new season, good take for both Thunders and Carusso they can help each other to entertain the fans.

Again, he is going to be utilized for defensive purposed and the experience of Carusso in the stretch. He could also be their player to handle the pressure of passing the ball during time outs as Alex is known to do this in Bulls uniform, a good 1-4 defender.

Damn, this is the trade that I didn't expect, It could be that Josh Giddey's performance in the last playoff which is for me just so-so? The Bulls traded Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey.

--> https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/alex-caruso-for-josh-giddey-trade-thunder-bulls-make-swap-with-okc-landing-all-defensive-guard-per-report/

I think Oklahoma Thunders is on the win with this trade. They get that veteran Alex Caruso and they let go of Giddey. Was this the kid that have trashtalked against the Mavs?

Well, welcome to his new team. He might get lesser playing time there.
Caruso has been known for his defensive skills, and Giddey has been known for... if you know what I mean then don't say it here. Cheesy

Anyway, it's the Thunder who won on this trade because aside from Lu Dort, they also have Alex Caruso that will help him in defending the opposing team's backcourts. Lesser playing time? Maybe, but he might still be a starter at least. SGA at 1, Caruso at 2, Dort at 3, JDub at 4, Chet at 5. This is an improvement for the team, and with how many draft picks they have right now, expect more of these trades in the future.

I thnk that's a great decision for the OKC as they can't carry that baggage as they enter the new season and aiming to be in the NBA finals. Giddey might still be young, does have the height but his playoffs performance is really bad, the team doesn't need someone who can't contribute when it matters the most. So I guess with this move, the OKC team will improve since we all know the kind of defense Alex Caruso could bring, ang given he was already an NBA champion he might be able to help the team in terms of leadership.

Yeah, Caruso and Dort at the same team playing defense, they could be one of the best duo are far as defense goes, although maybe Holiday and White of the recent NBA champion will have something to say with that.

In any case I think the Bulls have lost this trade, as they let go of Caruso. But perhaps they could be rebuilding already and might change their system next system and go on full offensive run and gun with Giddey anchoring as he is also a good player in transition. Although his performance in the last playoff was questionable and I agree with what others say that he is inconsistent.

I can see the angle for okc trading for Caruso to get a defensive stopper in theor backcourt to pair with SGA but I think in terms of skillet it was a little early to sell on giddy.  I have to think they know a little more than everyone else on the allegations aimed at him.  Dude can really ball and helps out not only in the assist area but rebounds and points.  For me this is an odd trade.  Something else is going on we don't know about.

I quite agree with about maybe it's quite too early to trade Josh Giddey, but they would also have to give up someone quite of perceived value to be able to get veteran like that of Caruso, and what he offers defensively something the youngest team in the league needs, I'd say. And as we might have seen in the playoffs, Giddey might be currently surplus to requirements, given the new approach and the plethora of options OKC already have offensively, that are not even getting quality minutes yet, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins and Casson Wallace are all worthy mentions, so to give up Giddey whose minutes have dropped drastically to get an elite defender while Giddey is still considered a great asset in the league might not be the worse idea, in my honest opinion.

They already have Dort as a defensive specialist. But perhaps with so many offensive players in their arsenal, they need somewhat to glue them together in clutch as a veteran and played hard nosed defense which Caruso can give to them. And if I'm not mistaken, OKC is the one who drafted Caruso so this is some sort of homecourt for Alex to be back again in the team that give him a chance.

Not sure what value though Josh Giddey might give to the Bulls. But perhaps Chicago might be anticipating Zach Lavine wanting to be traded. So at least they still have another player that can cover the offense for them. Giddey + DeRozan could be the new duo in Chicago.

Just that will make you realize that this is really a team that was built to take the beating and also beat players down and I am sure glad they are the champions but we should not expect they can keep that roster in the next years to come. Too expensive.
I have nothing against expensive teams if that means a title to them. Just look at the Warriors and how much they've paid their players last season. Or the Suns who are now in trouble because next season, they will be paying their big 3 close to $150 Million.

As for the Celtics, they still have another year in their contract, and I don't think they will make some huge changes in their roster. The Nuggets when they won didn't make some huge adjustments although the Bruce Brown trade affected especially on their defense. The Celtics have many good defenders, and changing some role players will not hurt them that much.

The Bulls traded Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey.

I agree this was a good trade for the Thunder.  Not sure what Chicago gets out of the deal.  Josh Giddey shouldn't even be in the NBA after his relationship with an underaged girl was exposed.  I'm surprised they still managed to fleece the Bulls given how bad the Giddey situation will be for whoever has him.

LeBron James is rumored to be about to sign a 3-year 162 million dollar contract.  That's wild at his age.  I think we may have reached the point where LeBron is a liability for his team.  This year was fine and maybe next year will be as well, but you can't tell me that LeBron will still be worth $50,000,000+ per year in the 2026-2027 season.  Not saying he hasn't already earned that money, just saying the salary cap is going to keep him from winning another championship.

I agree with you, there are players who get paid more to sit on the bench, I don't think the money paid to coaches is too much, but it seems a bit of a problem to send coaches away immediately because they can't build the team the way they want. Coaches should be given at least one year.
And the franchise isn't maximizing those players on the bench during the crucial games on the playoffs. That's why they have to secure themselves with better bench players and not just gonna sit there and will receive salary without sweating.

On the side of these bench players, they earn a lot by doing nothing but they want to have some playing time as well.

Anyway, going with the Dallas Mavericks. I've heard that Mark Cuban is no longer the one that will manage the basketball affairs of the team.

Since he has sold his stake, Mark Cuban is like a de-factor owner and we can still see that he is on the games of Dallas for support and maybe for a smooth transition. And I do agree that they didn't maximized their bench against the Celtics, Jason Kidd could have put more players in the rotation.

But overall though, it might not makes any difference at all because the Celtics is like a well oiled machine. They have been together longer, and they added KP and Holiday and was able to fit in perfectly in Joe Mazzulla's system.
IIRC, that was a condition that after he sold majority of his stake. He can still manage the basketball affairs of the team. But this time, even with that condition, he just let it go and resigned.

I guess that it's just really for the Celtics then. KP was there with the Dallas two years ago and then moved to the Wizards and then with the Celtics, so it's fate at all for him.

And the same goes for Jrue Holiday. Let's just give it to them and that's a well deserved ring for all of the Celtics staff and roster.

I just read one of those ridiculous click bait stories on Facebook but it was interesting enough to repeat here. The article claims the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking into drafting Bronny James in order to get LeBron to join the team and help them win a championship. As insane as this sounds, it seems not only possible, but also like it would be James’ best chance at winning a final ring.

If they are going to get both Bronny and LeBron James, they might also have to give up some key pieces of their current Identity, and I'm sure one of Gobert or Towns might have to be traded, maybe Gobert gets traded and Towns converted to a Center, since he's also a good shooter.

Speaking of the Lakers, it's been reported by ESPN that JJ Redick and the Lakers have agreed on a 4 year to deal, for Redick to take over the Coaching Job of the Lakers, I don't if that could be enough reason for LeBron to stay on the Lakers roster.

There’s been lots of talk about moving KAT this offseason. While I think that is a mistake, it’s a possibility. However, the JJ Redick move you just announced seems to be hinting that LeBron isn’t going anywhere. They literally just hired his podcast co-host to be his new head coach…
