The Phoenix Suns currently sits at the 2nd spot just behind 2 wins from the Utah Jazz in the Wester Conference.
Do they got what it takes to win a championship?
Here's to all the gamblers out there who would dare to put a $100 for the Phoenix to win a championship, $2,000 is such a generous offer considering they ranked 2nd from the NBA power rankings.

What do you guys think about this?
Booker's first playoffs game. It is a risk betting for this team to win the championship especially for a team with only Chris Paul that could control the game if the rest are shaken up. I think that is why they are putting a higher prize in return.
There is a chance but it's low. Clippers, Nuggets, and Jazz will be their struggle once they meet them on the playoffs.
Those teams have players with playoffs and Finals experiences and will not even be bothered by the pressure.

Nets won, Bulls out and won't have a chance for the play-in tournament.

Nope.
I don't think that they have the capabilities to win the championship. On that team, only 4 of them have the playoff experience (Moore, Crowder, Craig and Paul) and most of them are inexperienced and we know that elimination and playoffs are completely different.

Now for those gamblers who want to risk their money into the Suns then now is your time to make your money x20 at least Cheesy. If you believe in them then gamble on them. I remember that I saw a post regarding a gambler putting $20,000 IIRC and he bet that the Hawks will win the championship. That is what you called gambling at its best Cheesy.

A big shoutout to Russell Westbrook haters saying he achieved that record because of stat-padding.

Even a player will force to do a stat-padding, it's hard to do that triple-double every game intentionally.

Appreciate greatness. That record can't be broken for another 10 to 20 seasons I think. Smiley
Having a double-double is hard already but creating a triple double. Only Russ can do that Smiley.

Many are hating him because of his way of playing but I think lets appreciate the things that he can do inside the court, his leadership to the team and what he can do for the team. He can play a few seasons more so his record of triple doubles will increase more. I don't think that this record will be broke even after 10 years. 20 years possible Cheesy.

Westbrook broke the record and made history in NBA. I am happy to have seen this, I also agree that this record could be broken perhaps in 20 years.

Could be, but if the game develops we might see someone broke it again.

I don't know why, but every time I see Wesbrook playing he reminds me of DRose a little bit when he played for the Bulls ... both were explosive, same height, fast, dunkers and made a huge difference in their team!

I agree with you DRose and Westbrook at their prime can't be stop specially driving inside, they can shift momentum and their guards will be at lost and those ankle breakers. But Westbrook stand the test of time, after his injury it seems that he is back to previous versions in Washington.

Lakers Knicks tonight! With the Hawks squeeking out a win against the wiz, the Knicks need to win another one at the staples center.  Randall has got to be great and rose need to keep up his resurgence.  Big game cmon knicks!!
This match is more important for the Lakers because they keep fighting for rank 6, and they need to win every game to avoid participating in a play-in tournament. For the Knicks, nothing will change after this match because even if the Knicks lose, they will still stay on rank 4.

But the Knicks should keep on winning as well, we don't like teams deliberately losing games, I think the Knicks will not give the Lakers a free pass here. They are riding on a momentum again and it's the first time that they are going in the playoffs for many years, so they wanted to keep that 4th spot against the Lakers.

@gagux123 - Westbrook still have that explosiveness, contrary to what his detractors are saying that he has slowed down because of age and injury and he is very suited to the playing style of Wizards.

As far as I can see, I think the only players who can break this record are Jokic and Dondic (in my opinion)

For sure this will be a great game, Lakers in a needed win, but New York is on a streak right now.

D Rose has a good game, and the last time they meet, New York with a big win (but that was without AD), so it's going to be a close game, but I'm with the Knicks here to win.

@Oasisman - is that odd on Suns before the season started?

I watched Bucks versus Spurs game last night and it was incredible. Spurs are truly the most inconsistent team in the NBA, they are more consistent with the way they lose, but they are definitely inconsistent with how they will come out that day. Yesterday's game was clear from the start, they played so well and shot the ball so incredibly well as well, they destroyed Bucks in a huge blowout and I think it is definitely the same feeling when you watched Spurs back in the day.

However they are looking quite low on standings for now, they are at 10 and 2 games behind Grizzlies, I am afraid they are not going to actually have a chance with the play-in tournament and that is still fine, the team is young and they are adding and removing bits and pieces to make the team better, in 3-4 years they are going to be really great but they just need some time.

If the spurs will win in the play-in tournament, they will be in the playoffs. They just need to maintain a ranking of at least in the rank 10 and above. I guess they will end up either 9 or 10 spots only, but that's alright as they have a chance to qualify.

That record can't be broken for another 10 to 20 seasons I think. Smiley

Possible next or closest ones are:

Nikola Jokic - 56
Luka Doncic - 35

I disregard Lebron James (99) and James Harden (58) for the reasons that, they are now in their post-prime, only a few years to go for retirement, and in a team that well built so the focus of offense are not only to them.

I will bet on Luka, the center of the offense of the Mavericks, and now on his 35th triple-double at the age of 22 (supposed to be more as there are lots of games of him that only lack 1 stat for a triple double). Smiley

I see your point with both James and Harden since they already have someone who can take care of the stats, they can play now with relaxing set up, unlike before where they are in need to play more harder to carry their respective teams, and with their ages and already
on the top part of thier prime it's far to break that acheivements from Russ.

But those two young guns that you mentioned, they are possible doing it, Jokic is a silent killer and he can do things once he pushed it harder, while wih Luka which the main man of Dallas, he also have that capabilities to keep those numbers when the team needs him to do so.

Agree to that! he's just doing it for the love of the game. He got that skills and he's just showcasing his talents, whatever the opinions around

this achievements will be there for another more seasons, it will now the basis of having that stats, and for players or inspiring players who wanted to achieved that same caliber, they needed to prove that they are much better than WB.

Russell achieved a record and now the basis of such greatness among stars. Grats WB!

I am fan of NBA from 90ties. Of course i did not check it that much for all 30 years but I did at some point more then the other. What confuses me a lot is how I never heard of Oscar Robertson before. 2 years ago when Luka Dončič started gathering triple doubles as youngest player and competed to Oscar Robertson, I heard his name fro the first time. I heard a lot of Bill Russel. I heard a lot of Wilt Chamberlain. I heard a lot of Julius Erving I heard a lot about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and many more that played before I started watching NBA. But never heard of him. Do you guys have the same experience? Can anyone say why there is so little talk about Oscar Robertson when we talk about greatest players ever playing in NBA?

It's going to be a problem on how the next guy will break the record that Russ will make because he is still very healthy.  Wink

This guy deserves this achievement he does a good job achieving that unbelievable record since he breaks this number one record in the NBA history, we will remember this day as long as they will bring this record to the table. Today it's a great time for all of us who have been watching the NBA throughout our lives to witness such kind of historical event in NBA history. Though Westbrook is an underrated player, this record proves that he is one of a kind. You're right he is still healthy and can stretch that record up to far away to be reached by this current era.
I think Russ doesn't know that he is breaking legend records books, he just wants to play the same level every game, i feel sorry for him the last time he is in OKC with durant, I think durant really drop those 3 games for GSW, I mean I don't see how they let that series lead slip away, durant really don't want to be at the final in that year because Russ is the one that is like the superstar of the team, they should have been in the finals that year.
I don't think Durant would think that way, that was so stupid to intentionally lose the game because he doesn't want his co-star. Warriors are just better than them during that time, let's just accept it and move on, let's not create speculation on it. Durant has proven to be a legit one as he won a championship already, WB hasn't proven anything yet other than an individual record.

Russ or most of the time we call him here WB. He did it. 182 triple-doubles. 28p/21a/13r
He broke Oscar Robertson's record with 181.

I am just so proud of this guy. He deserve it.
I am happy I am alive to witness such a long record being broken in my time. He's a real winner.

It's going to be a problem on how the next guy will break the record that Russ will make because he is still very healthy.  Wink
