Trade deadline will be a bit boring this season as it appears. I wasn't really expecting something this boring, the biggest news is PJ Tucker trade and you can definitely get how unimportant that was by naming it PJ Tucker trade. At the end of the day, we are going to see some changes at the off-season but this season teams are not willing to make big moves just yet.

Plus, this is trade "deadline" so that means teams could have made trades beforehand, look at how Harden was traded to Nets and you will realize that teams could have traded whenever they want and they are not trading so deadline may not be a time where teams would make big moves. I wanted something huge, something that would make the news, something that gets at the top page of the reddit, but apparently nothing like that will happen. In any case, teams are settling in nicely, let's see who will win it this year.

I follow the NBA only on the sidelines but i what i really like about this league is that teams that were weak last season can be really strong in the next season, which is exciting.  Smiley
Just look at the brooklyn nets. I don't think that they were being called a candidate for the NBA title once in the last 10 seasons, but now they are so strong.
The tables of the european football (soccer) leagues are way more consistent in comparison.
That's because the Nets really got a stronger roster this time.

And if you look at them singlehandedly you'll consider them as one of the most possible teams that can get into the finals. As long as there's no major injury for most of their key players.

With the trade deadline fast approaching it looks like the next 24 hours could have a bit of excitement. The two players I’m expecting to see moved are Lonzo Ball & Aaron Gordon. Lonzo rumored to be heading to Chicago or Philadelphia while Gordon is looking like he may be a Celtic. We should know soon enough!

You can make an exemption on the Nets as they have a new starters, they have a big 3 (harden, Durant, and Irving), just like the Suns also, they have Chris Paul so they also improve this season. The only team that does not have a lot of stars and we've seen some improvement this season is the NY Knicks.

And how is it possible that they can afford to hire 3 top guys at once? I thought there are salary caps in the NBA? Have those top guys agreed to earn less in order to be able to win the championship together, like nowitzki did while he was still playing for the mavericks?
Also as far as i know there are not such big transfers between clubs like in european football where one club has to pay 100 Million for a top player as transfer fee.

You can easily put 3 max contracts into salary cap, but then you dont have anything left for role players. But a you can see in case of Blake Griffin with Nets and soon Andre Drummond with Lakers, they simply buy off their contact and come play for minimum for them. Cheap way to get solid role players.

I think the Carmelo Anthony era really put them in the lower position to attract other star players today, also they don't have a person in the front office to make a pitch to any free-agent, the best chance is to have room and cap to offer to a star players that they can't resist, it been a long time, they don't have get to the finals, hoping it will be sooner.

I agree, after a long-time playoffs drought, they will more likely get to play in the NBA playoffs this year since they already manage to get some spot in the top if nothing will change this few months. New York Knicks has improved since the last season and their players are competitive this year. They don't need another star player in the team cause those guys are enough to win guys with their strong chemistry.

The players are maturing and the coaching staff really plays well with blending the team chemistry; they didn't get big names in terms of superstars but they are performing as a team and that's very important, after adding DRose and watching Randle carrying this team they improve a lot this season.

And like what you have said, if they'll able to continue winning and stay at their current spot or much better to step up, to secure their chances to move to the next round.

We are not used to seeing the Knicks competing as they have really been struggling since Melo's time, and now the young guns are really making an effort to make this team a playoff team, and with a good coach, they are slowly achieving it.

Currently rank number 7 at 0.500 win rate, this is a big improvement.

I've been a fan of Lillard lately, always bet on them, same here against the Nets as I thought that they are going to win the way him specially that CJ is back, However, there was no Dame Time, although they really try to come back in the fourth, Nets and Harden answers back whenever they try to close the gap. So not greatness for Dame and no heroic comeback.

Nets really improve and they continue to show it up, with how Harden leading the team they've got everything they need to counter

whatever Lilard and the rest of the Blazers are doing. Very close game just not enough time for the Blazers.

Blazers will adjust for sure, they have some good wins in their previous game and maybe they have not anticipated the kind of defense the Nets will give to them. Unfortunately, they did not give a good defense on Harden has he was so productive in the game, just imagine 17 assists, that's a monster number from an offensive player also.

Harden gives them a pain in the ass, while in the other side, Lilard are being guarded it shows how ready the Nets for him.

It as at the 3rd quarter when the Nets took the lead.
The first half was really good in favor of the Trail Blazers with Gary Trent leading the offense.
It's just that the Nets offense was overwhelming and Lillard was well defended.
Most of the time he was doubled and they don't even gave him a breathing space.  Grin
I'm sure they will come back after that and I will not miss to bet for them.

Nets vs Trailblazers - Nets is going to be without Kyrie will James Harden is questionable with a neck injury. That's why I'm quite surprised to see the ML line here as the Portland is not the favorite @1.62. I think Portland will have this one and for sure Dame and CJ will take advantage of Net's missing their two superstar.

edit: Harden is playing.

And no problem, Harden almost registered another triple double, he has 7 rebounds. Jeff Green still playing very good basketball, pouring in 20 points. But I really like Nicolas Claxton performance though, this kid is really making a statement of his own with the Nets.

Good for those who have bet on Nets because they are the underdog here, it's like 2.x odds for them ML.

I thought we were gonna see another great Damian Lillard finish once the game entered Dame Time. Unfortunately the Nets stuck it out and got the win. It’s funny that I expect some sort of last minute greatness from Dame after all his heroic end of game moments.

Nets are no joke, they are now tied with the Lakers for the NBA futures with +285 betting odds.

Blazers are just like battling the Lakers here and it's hard to beat a team that is favorite to win a championship.

What do you think about the  return of CJ McCollum? was the chemistry improve or not?

I notice with the loss against the Nets, CJ was shooting more with 19 attempts and made 5 only, while Lillard also struggle with 5 of 17 shooting.
His numbers are down and so with his shooting percentage, is there' anything they can do to improve their current line up?

Any experts here opinion here?

I think it will bring Lakers as a contender if they get Drummond by they are going to sacrifice as well.

Nets will still be the favourites or at least someone for the East (6'ers' or Bucks). Lakers need to play flawless and need to get Lebron and Davis in the lineup come playoff time if they want to at least defend their championship this year.

I agree. The Lakers chances to go back to back are becoming slimer and slimer especially that injuries has been bugging the team. Not only that, teams in the West as well in the East are improving that these teams could beat them 4-2 in a 7 game series.
Sure Drummond is a great addition for the Lakers, but still I would give them less than 50% chance to win the championship again.
Three more losses and the Lakers will fall below the 8th seed.

Yeah, unfortunately, he had a bad shooting night plus the defense of Nets, doubling teaming him makes it hard for him to score. I thought him and CJ and just going to take this one away from Brooklyn.

Perhaps the blow out lost against Dallas the last time was still there psychologically. I put a bet on Portland ML prior to the game. They take the lead in the first quarter and I said that it will be a win for them, too bad.

Nice win by the Nets, and I like the development of Griffin, he is improving, maybe next game he will already get a double digit points. No Irving, yet they are still playing, this team is legit now as long as Harden is playing healthy.
