Zion hype's do have a reason and he is living on that hype. He has skills. He has talent. The most skilled player in their rookie class. If he doesn't get injured, no way the names of Ja Morant will pop up as the best rookie in their class.

The most overhype rookie that I remember is Lonzo Ball in the 2017 class. No need for some further details on why.

And about the 2k21 cover, there are no rookies or sophomore considered there since they need a market. Lebron James and his rookie class was the most popular draft in 20 years but none of them got considered as 2k cover or even in NBA live.

Zion is a good player, and we all know he'd be a future hall of famer (If he keeps healthy), but the media is really hyping him up. There are actually a more deserving rookies and other young talents in that cover like Luka, Trae, or Morant. Or they could just cover Vince Carter as a sign of respect and tribute to him as the last man who played in 4 decades after he retires. It's just sad 2k forgot how amazing Vince was as if they haven't enjoyed his levitation and dunking showcase.
As usual marketing strategy, It's all business.
Nevertheless, sports industry has gradually becoming more of a business than actual sports.

I didnt even expect for Zion to be chosen and id rather prefer to be Luka to be on that spot but well they do have all the decision when it comes to these sort of things.

They are really hyping up much that kid. Well, he's indeed a good player but if we do really compare of to others then we can actually see the difference.

In business talks then this had been since from the start.

That's more on a business and AFAIR, I did not seen a non american player that becomes a cover for the NBA2k. correct me if I'm wrong but I guess this is just truly for business and the market of fans which I think they have the biggest in the US.

There's still ample time for those positive players to catch the match if they recover within less than a month. But I don't think they will be allowed to play instead, they will be allowed to be there on the bench watching the team compete.

Wishing them the best for speedy recovery.

They can return to play if they recovers faster, but the question is, are they fully healthy to play again without proper practice together with the team?
I think if they can play, that would be after the regular season, so Pelicans has to qualify for these players to be in the line up again.
We don't know how long they'll be in recovery and in quarantine.

But if they will be confirmed to be healthy before a week or two for the game, there's enough time for them to practice. Although keeping safe is going to be the priority for them I guess and that's to take a rest.

I think that's a too short for recovery and when they recover I don't know if they are allowed to practice immediately.
Time is gold at that situation now as everyone is looking to compete and to win, but they can't force themselves if their body can't cooperate.

Well, since there's a lot of players who were confirmed positive with covid-19, let's just observe what would happen so we will have a basis in case one of them will return to play.

Not against Dame but Kawhi should be the cover for NBA 2k21 for me.

Then Kobe Bryant for Legend Edition for an obvious reason. Smiley

No ETA for the release (or I just missed it) but if the usual release date will follow, it should be by October or November disregarding the pandemic status*.
Dame was just one of the three 2K21 cover athletes.

Well, the 2nd cover just got announced and I thought Kawhi could be it, but it's Zion. Lips sealed

Not quite sure about Zion. Man just played 21 games in the NBA, media sure loves hyping the kid. Kinda feel bad for Kawhi not getting the attention he deserves, but pretty much he don't want having the attention too. Cheesy

Yeah its a marketing thing. When Zion played little kids he destroyed them, which caused internet sensation, which lead to lot of views, which lead to him being seen by good colleges, which resulted with him getting hyped because he was getting attention by good colleges, than he got picked by a good college with a great roster, allowed him to get even more attention, than he got more views, and more hype, than he got drafted, and he got even more hype, and more attention, than he didn't played, but even to this day, all of that collective hype is still there.

Do you really think games like 2K puts people just for accomplishment? They put people there for marketing. And to be honest putting Zion is a bigger marketing than putting Ja Morant at this moment, even if Ja played and played well.

Felt bad for Ja Morrant  Undecided. Young man excels among the rookies the same draft year as him. No idea about the market thing but does it have any connection? I mean they just ruined real recognition on the floor. Just pure hype, Zion doesn't deserve it yet in my opinion  Grin. Makes me wonder what would be his rating?

Luka, Trae, or Ja should've made it. Or maybe Vince itself though it's kinda late  Tongue.

I think it's because of the position he is holding and the hype itself, he is just a rookie so his name is still fresh in the minds of the people, plus he is also doing well in the NBA, help his team to rise when he resume playing after an injury so he is getting that popularity.

We don't know what the criteria is, otherwise it would be easy to debate and choose our favorite player to be the one who are deserving for the spot.
This is business so let them decide on how to market their product, besides, they are managing the business and they know what's better for it.

Look it is quite simple, if the players are failing to keep themselves safe, if the players are going outside, or connecting with people and basically all around not keeping themselves at a social distance to everyone, there is two options. Either let players go and not play them, if players disagree with the choice they can go back home and decline to play which is an option right now, or just take them to Orlando, put them in the hotels, and do not allow them to go outside or give them the option to outside but pay a HUGE fine if they get corona virus because of their own stupidity.

I am sick and tired of these people (not just NBA, all people in the whole world) still going outside and not being careful, because of these people we can't go back to regular quickly, we should be doing much better now but because of people without masks, without proper care we are still doing bad.

Bad news came from New Orleans Pelicans whose three players were positively infected with COVID19. But unfortunately David Griffin
is vice president the New Orleans Pelicans team declined to name three of their players with COVID19. But David Griffin confirmed
the three players quarantined. Whereas last week the NBA announced 16 players tested positive for COVID19, out of the 22 teams that
will be performing at Walt Disney World Orlando. Hopefully this virus does not spread again, because if it spreads more and more fear
there will be another game delay. The New Orleans Pelicans will have their first match on July 30 against Utah Jazz, hopefully their
schedules will not change and all three players positive COVID19 can recover soon.

I think they should be transparent, as a fan we are also concern so it's nice if the NBA would make it transparent for everyone.
Now that the Pelicans are aiming for a playoff spot, they might struggle if one of the infected are part of the starting line up, I'm hoping now especially ZION.

since you haven't add the link of the news, let me add it,

I agree with you, if other teams make it public, why can't they.
I mean, what's the reason of keeping that information private when NBA is a public entertainment that everyone are interested to know.

With this news, would that hugely affect their chances now?
Need some thoughts here as there are odds available now from sportsbook shared in https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54712043

Yeah, what the heck.
What if these guys already infected citizens.
This news about them could somehow inform those who are in contact with those 3 players.
They can save themselves or their loved ones from spreading the virus.

Why do they keep this kind of delicate news?
It ain't about pride anymore. What?! They will not tell it so they could make them play for the tournament?
I hope someone will step up to tell it is wrong to hide it.

After all these will be obvious when the Pelicans will play in the start of the season again, you will know who is the players that are missing from their roster.

It's better to do live betting then considering this news since we can't also see the information in https://www.rotoworld.com/ or other sites that are listing players who are not available to play for certain reasons, may it be injuries or personal reasons.

I don't know how medical disclosures and privacy work in the United States but if there is the players who got infected might have chosen for their names not to be public so really their vice president doesn't have any choice but to not name them what he can do instead is to confirm that existence of these players being positive with the virus. And maybe when it comes to the safety of their staffs as well as their fellow co-players I think they might have know by know who these players are but is not just being released to the public due to confidentiality. After all these will be obvious when the Pelicans will play in the start of the season again, you will know who is the players that are missing from their roster.

Kawhi and Kobe for the legend edition, anyone? Cheesy

I go for the Kobe version in the legend edition since this might be his last cover in NBA game to remember him well. I'm sure most of the gamers will do the same if they can only afford to buy one. We can say this is our way to support him even he is no longer around. Kobe is indeed a legend no NBA players will play like him.
