NBA GM’s vote Nikola Jokic, not Joel Embiid, as best center in league

It's close but I also think Jokic is the better center between the two.

Yep, i would choose Jokic over Embiid as well, it is pleasure to watch Jokic, he plays with such ease, pure BBIQ. If Embiid was healthy guy, that would be different story though.
The Joker is a better team player and he can lead his team to more success, this guy is also healthy so he can contribute a lot to the team.
Attitude wise, I also like Joker and I believe with him in the Nuggets, we can expect them to be more successful.

In the other news, as expected Pascal Siakam signed  contract extension for 130/4 with  Toronto  Raptors. Makes sense that Raptors offered him max rookie contract, he is their potential franchise player.

Siakam was really a big help on the success of the Raptors, he should his true potential in the playoffs and that's what the organization saw.
He is part of the starting five who gave them their first championship, so its a nice move by the Raptors.

Zion is not "overrated", people who think media is excited about a number one overall pick gonna be beast thinks they mean pelicans drafted a Lebron or an MJ.

It is not like that, check out the last 10 years, there have been very few players who came out of number one overall pick that was as physically as talented as Zion, dude is a beast physically, he is not tall but definitely heavy and still can rebound and dunk very well. Sure, he can still get better by losing a bit weight and playing with a bit different styles instead of just explosiveness but that doesn't mean that he is not good, he is one of the best draft picks of the last 10 years and would totally be in top 20 pick in 5 to 10 years if he stays healthy.

Nobody thinks he is going to be hall of famer right away, or maybe ever, but considering there have been people picked at 13th spot playing better than 1st pick in some of those years, its a good feeling that pelicans picked the clear best of that draft, not "maybe" the best (Ayton going over Luka is a joke for example) but 100% the best in this draft.
We can see later when he plays in the regular season. The weight is not proportional to the height and Zion's explosive play style. I hope when he focuses on healing injuries he can also diet to lose weight

Can we really imagine what kind of player Williamson is if he loses some weight? I mean, he's explosive since he was heavy and he would be a monster if he lose weight.

Jokic could be the next "Big Fundamental". He doesn't force it

The guy has already proven himself to be reliable and he was instrumental in their first title run. I'm curious if he can contribute more to the team now that Kahwi is gone. Nevertheless, good job for the Raptors here.

Third injury this year if I am not mistaken.

Just imagine how may more injuries he will sustain when he's in mid-20's.

@stadus. A friend of mine has said that if you love statistics and triple doubles, Lebron is for you. However, if you like style, flamboyance and leadership, there is only the one great Michael Jordan hehehe.
And there's no argue with that., MJ is the best in terms of leadership and the determination in winning each games especially the finals. MJ wouldn't have any hesitation once he already seen the opportunities he will take it with his hands and would not let the fans be disappointed. Though there's no doubt that LeBron would not  be far from Kobe and MJ in terms of skills and capabilities.

Lebon is no doubt the best player in the NBA in terms of consistency but I don't admire him when it comes in the playoffs or in the NBA finals as he cannot solely take his team to win a championship, of the times he became a champion, he was playing along with NBA stars, unlike Kobe that only needed Gasol and Odom to win an NBA championship.

I know we have different basis, and we have different teams that we really like, for me I like Kobe and there's non in the NBA now that could surpass him.

Agreed! The only thing I dislike about Lebron is his lack of killer instinct, I mean he usually look for a teammate to rely on down the stretch. Unlike Kobe or Jordan who would take the shot no matter what during the crunch time. And Im not saying Lebron isnt clutch, he is, but not in Kobe or Jordan's level. However, Lebron is definitely in the list of all time greats.

Well, Im a fan of superstars as well as those underrated players. Let me guess, Kobe fan?  Grin or prime D.Rose?
Both but more of Kobe fan especially when they were always on the finals. And his legacy will forever be attached to the Lakers, I hope this time that the team can comeback as before because of their strong roster.

Though Im not the biggest fan of Kobe, but I cheered and bet on the Lakers way back when they had won the 3peat. I was so young back in the days when I remembered in a local sportsbar with my Dad looking for handicap bet. Then I was starting to admire Lebron in 2003 when the Cavs drafted him. Up until now Im a big Lebron fan lol.

It looks like we have to postpone seeing Zion play at the start of the Regular Season week because he reportedly suffered a knee injury suffered during the preseason and is expected not playing for several weeks.
His athleticism is very superb that his knees cannot hold his weight that is why Paul Pierce gave him an advice to lessen his weight as this is what he did too to maintain his body fit and not prone to injuries when he is playing with the Celtics.

I wish that he will recover soon because he played very well in the pre-season. Now he will miss few of their starting games so maybe the Pelicans' start will not that good or it will depend.

They really did push this kid to the limit in the preseason with 16.5 avg points per game and now they see he sustained a knee injury. Well this was a test to see how far he can play and how many minutes they can put him on the court until he reached his limit.
They now should know he isnt a fully mature player like lebron is who can be in each and every single game with topped out minutes played.
Wait? During this whole time in preaseason, he's holding of an injury? Quite impressive on his part enduring an injury and still playing it hard for the fans. Why did the Pelicans forced him to play on that condition. I understand that they need to create a hype but, this is way too far.
The kid wants to play and to send messages for his presence inside the  league. The injury needs to be well taken care of, the management have to give him long term treatment in order to maximize his stay. Advance medicine can take care of this injury they just need to rest him and make sure that he'll be able to stay healthy for the rest of his career and avoid major injuries that will keep him away from this industry.

In my opinion, Zion is not a good shooter. he can play with his style as it is now only with a lighter weight. because the current style with a hard dunk is very entertaining. I realize that his playing style does not suit his current body, it can make him injured. and in my opinion, the solution is he should reducing his weight.

Mate, that is why I said this in the first place
He should be fine for a couple of years of highly competitive games but his career will probably last less than 10 years if he is not going to change his playing style as he grows older.
Even if he loses his weight, his athleticism will never be the same once he gets older. He will need to add more into his game to last longer in the NBA. Otherwise, no team would want some old player who only knows how to dunk.
in my opinion Zion is too overated. with the spotlight and the news that only focus on him as a rookie and draft pick number 1, surely he has a heavy burden. I prefer Ja Morantcurrent style of play, he has good speed and effectiveness and is a good shooter.

Of course Zion Williamson  has the spotlight. He dominated college basketball, now he dominated preseason like  no rookie before, with 23.3 ppg while shooting 71.7% from the field so it's no wonder all this hype around him.
All he has to do now is to stay healthy, as he is obviously immensely talented.

In the other news, Zion Williamson will sit out last preseason game  against NY Knicks due sore knee.He is only 19 yo, i hope that Pelicans won't push him too hard in his first season, you gotta be careful with these kind of players.

Whether he adjust his playing style or he loses weight. His knee will not be able to withstand the pressure of the regular season if he keeps playing the way he does with his current weight. I do not want to see him turn into a top pick bust just because of injury. I want to see his full potential and what he can bring to NBA.

Check this video on why Zion has a high risk of injury. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGRnMIRCtDU

Nice explanation but his style of play is what makes him popular and became the number 1 in the latest draft pick.
I am pretty sure the Pelicans already understands that and if he will not play its full potential the pelicans would not get the full service from him.
All the teams who get the number 1 pick has a high hope that it will take the team to the playoffs and will remain to be a contender, so limiting him might not help the purpose.

Right, all they should do is on how to strengthen that knee to avoid brutal injury. 82 games in the regular season is not a joke for an NBA players. They should consider prioritizing their health if they want to have a long career. Just like LeBron, Zion Williamson should have a routine for himself to be always on top shape Everytime they play and avoid injury.

Wow what a nice thread! I've been a fan of the golden state warriors since day one and for me the gameplay of the gsw becomes more aggressive and their defense become more tough than their previous games with other teams. I recently see Kevin Durant playing more better after he went on his serious physical injury. I believe that the golden state warriors will get again the finals and the trophy of the NBA season 20.
Probably you're a die-hard GS fan I'm sorry but, their chances are got low since Thompson got injured. Yes, you can see them play even harder but that's very usual since they lost two superstars and they need to change their plan of action inside the court.

I remember Zion getting injured before entering the NBA draft and this recent injury is not a good sign for NO. It's good that he is still young, his recovery will be much faster. The Pelicians medical team will be busy with him during the entire season as I see Zion getting more injuries during the regular season.
It's making sense now that some people are actually telling Zion as Greg Oden-like player. I hope he might not end up as him. He has more potential in him.

Talking about pre-season, I see not so popular names doing well. It's exciting to watch undrafted players showing what they can do.
