SGA also has defense compared to other players. Embiid and Jokic are not known for their defense, and that means SGA is better than them at one half of the game, the fact that they are ranked higher is mainly because NBA cares about offense more than they care about defense, not just fans but also the whole entire organization tries to minimize defense as much as possible by calling almost everything a foul, so that is why we are seeing SGA not getting the attention he deserves.

How many players in that list could be considered a great scorer with 30+ ppg and then still be in race for being a great defender at the same time? Giannis could be the only one, he defends well, but he is not a great perimeter defender, he is great at inside, and most teams play outside these days.

Finally! Pistons got the win after the worst losing streak in history and Raptors is the victim. Smiley
I had Cunningham 28+ points bet but Markkanen blew my parlay. He shot 0/7 behind the 3-pt line and could score only 12. Whatever, Pistons won tonight and that's the only important news.
Yeah, not fake news anymore. Cheesy Finally! I was shocked considering it was the Raptors they were up against. The record was broken but they finally stopped it from swelling.

How about the game in Minnesota? Lebron James was furious about his three-point shot. There's just a single string of different behind the three-point line and yet the referee still called it a 2 pointer. That's sucks. My bet was -2.5 for the Timberwolves that's why I badly want it to go to overtime instead of a 2-pointer. Then, Anthony Edwards missed one shot. Crap. My bet was not covered.
But thumbs up to the Lakers for making an effort to almost tie that game on the road.

Golden State Warriors also lost in their home. Luka Doncic went nuts again recording 39 points and 10 assists. Klay Thompson with just 3 points in 26 minutes, again with the inconsistent Klay. It sucks to see one of the splash brothers having this kind of bad performance in his last 3 games. I thought he was back as he was performing well in 6 games before Christmas but after that was all bad games for him. Maybe he had too much fun during the Holidays.

That moment reminded me of something that happened years ago.
I just watched a video online regarding how the fans reacted after they saw their team ending their losing streak. It's like how the fans of Timberwolves reacted after they won that playoff game years ago where even PatBev even cried.

Sounds funny, but for a Pistons fan, this win is big for them. I mean just imagine how demoralizing is for a player to be on a team that's on a losing streak of more than 25+. Nevertheless, it's a win for the Pistons, and I don't expect too much for them this season because like always, they're tanking, but I hope this win that they got after 2 months of losing will create at least a bit of morale to the whole team.

As for the Raptors, they got at least RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley in that trade with the Knicks, so let's see how these 2 players will fit to the system of the team. They're victims indeed  Cheesy Cheesy

Unfortunately the streak is over.  Cry
You're not happy?  Grin

Now the Raptors will forever be the team that lost to a team that had a 28 game losing streak until they beat them.

I was hoping the streak can hit 30 but I also had a feeling the struggling Raptors might be the ones that will fall to them. Detroit was also just a 4 point underdog so Vegas also had high hope for this to happen.

Seems like their performance on their previous game had help them to win here. They were close on beating the Celtics, that was helpful to increase their confidence on the game. Raptors also played without OG Anunoby, so that was big for them and Detroit took advantage on that. Regardless though, a win is a win, so I think I should be happy with their win. Hopefully they'll start losing again!  Tongue

Alright knicks fan here and have had some time to think on this and I think I like it.  Hate seeing quickley go but this summer he is set to get paid and now it looks like the Knicks weren't going to pay him anyway.  RJ is/was promising but he is crazy inefficient and takes bad shots at the wrong time of the game. OG is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league and can now full that role for the Knicks.  They don't give up any first round capital.  What I expect to happen is quickley plays 30 minutes on Toronto and averages 18-20 a game.  Dude is a baller.  They are gonna love rj early on but will eventually frustrate people because of the before mentioned I'll timed shot attempts.  Either way knicks had to make a move in not multiple so I like it.

I think Boston will win against Toronto today.

Boston won without Tatum and Porziņģis. Jaylen Brown carried the team this time. Kornet was very effective, Holiday and White used ball more often but their field goal percentages were low. It could've been easier for Celtics if they shot with more accuracy.
Despite the loss, I liked how Raptors play though. Barnes and Siakam were okay. By the way there's a flash news for Raptors. Anunoby is going to Knicks. They'll get Barrett and Quickley so this may be a positive trade for them.

And I thought that Wiggins is going to be traded to the Raptors as well, but so far this is just rumor.

Perhaps it was a tough decision to let go of the two Knicks player here as they have been part of the resurging Knicks in the last couple of years.

I took a ML bet on them against the Pacers, before I saw this news,  Cry

A close game from the Pistons wouldn't be unexpected. If you look at the results of the last four games, you'll notice that they've been losing by a few points. For example, the Pistons lost 6 points against the Hawks, 8 points against the Jazz, and they lost their last two games against the Nets by 11 and 6 points, respectively. I mean, sometimes it seems like the Pistons can break their losing streak, but at the same time, they don't get lucky or lack something else in the endings of games like this.

Actually, I was surprised by what is happening to the Detroit Pistons right now they are getting losses even though they might win the game last win for the Pistons was the win on their game against the Chicago Bulls game back on October 29, and since then they are currently in 29 losing streak if I am correct and I think the Detroit Piston is now on world record for so many losing streak and for sure that is the only good thing for them in getting a record in the NBA,

Celtics really have a very good squad depth on their roster, and that's why you guys like Luke Kornet, Sam Hauser and Pritchard come into the starting lineup or off the bench and make huge impact, and their latest Portugese center Neemsia Queta have been a solid addition to the team too.

If Celtics are able to reduce their extreme dependence on 3 pointer shots, and find other ways like driving into perimiter more and geting more point from the paint area, they'll be a team to be in the league this season and I'll tip them as my favorite for the championship this year, provided they are able to keep their core players fit and avoid long term injuries that could deter their ambitions.

Well, this is why other teams should try and take their new players for a test run that means they will initially risk potential losses, but in doing so their new players will be exposed to the game of the NBA and get experience within the team, just like what the other teams are doing, for sure the Boston Celtics are gaining great depth in their roster if this continues and for sure Celtics is now on the top in the East with 25 wins, rivaling the Timberwolves, in the West,

A couple of good games on today. The 2-29 Detroit Pistons look to get win number 3 against the Toronto Raptors. Better matchups to actually watch are the Los Angeles Lakers against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors against the Dallas Mavericks. Luka has been on a tear lately so that should be a good one to see.

He can't be in the top 3 because he is just a scoring machine, unlike the top 3 now which are,
https://www.nba.com/news/kia-mvp-ladder-dec-29-2023-edition

1- Embiid
2-Jokic
3- Antetokounmpo

These 3 averages a double double, and even Jokic almost average a triple double, just 1 assist needed for a triple double.
SGA could continue to play like that, maybe he'll win as the scoring champ, or most improved player this year.

Fair enough, I get your point, very simple analysis but the truth.

If you have ever followed the run of OKC, they're consistent. As you can see on the standings, they're currently ranked two on the West while Nuggets is 3rd.

They've got their key players and not just that they're key players but they're as well as the contributors of the team. SGA is getting the spotlight now and no contest that he's good.
Yeah of course, I know their ranking, but Nuggets are Nuggets, I mean they are the defending champion and they lose that big, and worst is it's on their home court where they are very dominant. I'm impresed with OKC, I think I should respect them and won't be betting against team, even at home or on the road. SGA the man, he should be the MVP of the month?

Quote
On the other hand with Pistons, how long is the contract of Cunningham on them since he's their pick on the draft? 2 - 3 years?

He will stay for a while with the team as he is only RFA in 2025, so there's still 2 years (more or less).

The defending champion Denver Nuggets loss to the Oklahoma Thunder once again, it wasn't even a close game as OKC had dominated them in a 26 points victory. What happened here? I know    Aaron Gordon was out, but Murray and Jokic played, I don't understand what happened to the Nuggets, or just the OKC is so good right now?

BTW, SGA scored 40 points from a an efficient shooting (14-20), the consistency level of this guy is very impressive.

Should be at the top 3 of the MVP conversation now.

I agree with the first point that SGA is great and playing splendidly but Embiid, Jokic and Giannis, also Doncic is whole another level. There has always been great players but the effect of these 4 is something else in my opinion. League is faster, tougher and much more scored but players also gotten much better. SGA maybe would have been in the mvp talk 10-20 or 30 years ago but this 4 is really something else. Although I remember the stats from Iverson, T-Mac or Kobe for example, none of them were this consistent with almost triple double numbers. In the modern nba at least.

For some reason Fans just want the Los Angeles Lakers to be good again, and after winning the In-Season Tournament this year, they want the Lakers to continue their winning and go into the Finals again for sure, just like what they did last season, but they will need to trade certain key players for this to happen, well fans just wants the best for the Los Angeles Lakers but getting LeBron James out of the Lakers is really impossible as James now is still profitable for their business and for the team while LeBron James is still playing like his old self so it is a real big win for the Los Angeles Lakers,

D'Angelo Russell might be traded or  with (+ player). I think he isn't the same anymore, at least his impact aren't that great with the LA Lakers, Reaves was even more impactful than him, so if there's a possible trade that could allow D'Angelo Russell to be out with the Lakers, I think that will happen.

DLo is inconsistent, that's the main problem about him being in any team. Then here comes the trade rumors after winning the IST, he became even more inconsistent and lacking some energy to win games it's evidently he got affected with the trade rumors since he was very excited to be back in LA when they got traded out in Minnesota.
There's a lot of things going on in LA today, we'd never know they will pull up an unexpected trade that involves Reaves.

I doubt Lakers does have a plan to trade Reaves nor think about doing it since if they look at the current performance what he bring to Lakers he's total energizer to the team and bring huge impact. If there's rumors like this coming from their camp for sure there's a lot of teams will go after him knowing he can perform really well and a great fit to any team that can acquire him.

For DLO for sure there's a huge chance that he can be traded since his inconsistency is not doing well in their rooster and for sure Lakers is finding perfect fit with their system so I believe he they might get rid of him while DLO still have a value. We know Lakers with Bron is doing some interesting action so maybe they do something just to increase their chance to climb up on standing and find a good players that can possibly fit on their system that can help them to get more wins.

A few more weeks before the trade deadline. It seems like the Lakers know their chances against the top teams as they are pursuing trades aggressively. So according to the odds, the Lakers are likely to acquire Dejounte Murray from Atlanta. I don't know what assets the Lakers can offer but the team has a decent roster except that they lost their future first draft picks already in the previous trades.

Some people on social media are saying Lebron should be part of the trade which is impossible. It's not even a surprise if it's Lebron pressuring the management to acquire other stars or better talents while he is still playing at a high level.

Why the Lakers are always in the conversation about whether there's a potential all-star player in the trading block?
I mean I can't even think of a reason. Maybe they're popular?

What I can't even think of is the fact that even though some aren't even fit for the system of the team, or they aren't interested in that player at all, the Lakers are always involved whenever there's a huge player who wants to get traded. When news about LaVine getting traded became the talk of the internet, the Lakers were the top to get them. Now that the Hawks want to trade Murray, the Lakers are now among the teams that people want to get him again.

Lebron being part of the trade is just ridiculous, and as for the Lakers getting him, he's a liability when it comes to defense this season for the Hawks so if this trade will push through, I don't know which players the Lakers will give to the Hawks. Reaves maybe? Some benches and draft picks? Nevertheless, I don't see this pushing through just because the Lakers have no assets to trade to the Hawks. My 2 cents only though.

however, they'll be very vulnerable if this is how they want to play all season because I can still remember their last match against Warriors,  where they had about 5 second chances opportunity and the game being on the line but they can passing out the ball for a 3 point short that eventually didn't and it cost them the game when Curry was able to get a final shot for the Golden State Warriors.

I don't understand the Celtics because they seem to be playing like the game of the Warriors. They can't go toe to toe with the Warriors on 3 point shooting as that's their game, they still have Curry who broke their hearts during the NBA Finals, so Celtics have to be wiser, play the game on how other teams beat the Warriors, and that is by taking advantage of the points in the paint.

We all know that teams now are very confident with their 3 point shooting especially the Celtics who are currently the number 1 now per https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/points-from-3-pointers... but it's different in a pressume game, they can't beat the Warriors on their own game, so they need to experiment a bit on this, and it's called in game adjustments.
