We didn’t get to see LeBron and Durant matchup in the playoffs last year unfortunately but the future looks good. For the first time in 5 years we get to see Kevin Durant and LeBron James face off as the Phoenix home opener is scheduled to be against the Lakers. I wonder how much tickets for that game are going to be…
I do not think that this would matter like a playoff game. The opener usually doesn't matter, not only it's the first game of the season so the players will not be ready fully and they will get better overtime, but we are also talking about players not caring about regular season as much as they care about playoffs.

The most important games could be the last games where teams trying to be in the playoff spot, when there are play-in situations right now which I think was a great addition, I disliked it at first but now I like it a lot. I could say that between the playoffs, the play-ins and the last games of the season for the last spot, I think it's going to be pretty decent for teams to end up caring only about those games.

Yes, I agree. It is still premature to say that coach Pops will just be with the San Antonio Spurs for just a year specially when Wemby is still approaching his first season and rookie year in the NBA, and it was one of the reasons why the Spurs have convinced coach Pop to extend his contract. Needless to say, this will be not the end of it and coach Pop will soon find his answer again why should he stay for another season.
Wembenyama could end up getting injured or being a bust, cannot control if those things happen. If they did though, Pop might decide it's time to walk away. Spurs really need Wemby to have a monster season. If for nothing else than to keep their best coach ever interested in staying in coaching.

After Hall of Fame enshrinement, Gregg Popovich looks to mold new group of players
https://www.nba.com/news/gregg-popovich-hall-of-fame-profile-2023

It's not yet over for Pops. He has a big weapon now and this might end up as a good season for him if everything will go right.
But just look at the connections Pops made on his coaching career.

Almost all known coaches today are there in that tree and most of them either made it to the playoffs or were champions in the previous years.
When Pops is discussed one coach that will pop out my mind is Steve Kerr. His coaching style is a combined play of Phil Jackson and Pops. That is why it's so good that he made 4 runs as a champion.

But I do believe it's not the end yet for Pops. With Wemby on their roster he might be more excited to build the young man to a superstar and become a part of him as he grows.

By the way, I just now noticed that these legendary guys got their coveted HOF jackets today. Time flies so fast...

Miss those days when these are the guys we see especially on the Finals, now they are HOF, I'd say LeBron will be the next that will get this orange jacket.

Steve Kerr has good IQ on the court, with his experience on championships along with great teammates plus the advice he got from Pops I guess he got it all. Good thing USA Basketball has entrusted him that role. Well, he got Wemby to be coached even for just a year that would mean something for the kid tbh, this one is the future face of the NBA and molding him is likely the joy of Pops.

Now that's confusing because the sports page that I've saw on the Facebook was saying a different thing, as what they are saying, it will be the Golden State Warriors who will be facing against the Phoenix Suns as the opener of the new season. Either way, it will be interesting because CP3 is now with the Warriors while the Suns have a new player as well and we will know if who works more in the roster, a Beal with the Suns or a Chris Paul with the Suns.

Austin Reaves did an interview with the Nelk boys on their podcast and it was a good introduction to him and his personality. It seems like he’s got his head screwed on straight and he cleared the air about having never met Taylor Swift. If you like Austin and want to see him in a relaxed environment, I’d recommend searching out this interview on YouTube.

If in case the rumor were true after all, it's very understandable if Austin Reaves want that thing to be private because it will not help his career if those issues will always surround him while playing in the NBA nor Taylor Swift's personal career, he probably knew what will happen after then if he will confirm those rumors. And as long as there were no evidence to confirm the rumors, both of them will always choose to deny whatever it is.

And if I'm not mistaken, it is on the same interview that he explains why he made the face during a time out and he thought that everything is on a cruise. But when Lebron points out where he should be and what will be his spot, he was somewhat confused and made that face that instantly become a meme.

If we take into account the number of all-star players that will be in this match, ticket prices will definitely be overpriced, especially for courtside tickets. I'm wondering how much tickets for regular NBA games usually cost. $100-$200?

According to the Bing search I just did, the average cost of an NBA game ticket is $211 but that doesn't include everything else you'll spend attending the game. Parking, food, and souvenirs will also factor into your game experience.

He can get another chance. He shouldn't have gone to Taiwan imo.
You can't blame him; he saw an opportunity overseas, so he grabbed that opportunity. However, with the recent news that his salary will be cut a bit, I guess he might be interested in playing with the NBA again. Let's hope that there's a team that would pick him up.

He is already 37 years old, not young anymore, but he can still play. With his experience and confidence, I'm sure he will be a big help. All we can do now is wait for the developments. Let's follow Howard's journey; who knows, he might end up with the Lakers again.

Yeah, since there's no team offers him a service, so there's no other option but to play overseas, I think he still has that capability as he can
still jump high and give that hassle to help as a good defender.

If a team will give him that opportunity to play back and let him provide some minutes to a player that will need some rest.

Like what you said, we never know if there's still a team that will consider him and will let him play and showcase the help
that he can still provide.

He had a good run oversees, but still though, he wanted to return to the NBA and most likely retire in that league. I guess the league has change a lot now, they are not looking or a pure Center like him. All they want to see is a good big man that can shoot outside as well, not just defend the rim and grab rebounds.

But a prime Howard in early 2000's is really great to watch. He can defend, block shoots and dunk the ball with ease as no one can stop that kind of specimen back then. They were just cut short by Kobe and the Lakers when they reach the finals and didn't win the championship.

Almost being compared to Shaq back in his prime, and same with how Shaq manages to bring the Magic to the finals, they also
runout against the Kobe's Lakers.

I guess that's what he wanted and still failing to find a team that will allow him to retire his jersey, with how the system changes, where shooters
are more dominant compared to the power inside.

His chance to come back is slim unless there are some insiders that will back him up to sign a deal.

He was definitely the best center in the league for some time, but Dwight was no where near the player Shaq was.  Shaq is the most dominant player to ever play the game (not best, but most dominant).  Dwight was also compared to Shaq so often because obviously they both played a good bulk of their careers in Orlando, or at least a good part of their careers, but Dwight named himself "Superman" (something Shaq did long before him) and totally just tried stealing the whole Shaq Superman thing..it was weird.

Anyways, Dwight's time in the league is absolutely over.

He doesn't have that much option but to embrace the reality because if he won't, his situation will always be the same where he will be compared to Shaq and will be on his shadow while he is on the league specially that both of them played with the Magic and looking at it now, it will not change because he didn't surpass Shaq as the most dominant center that the NBA has ever seen. He's just a regular center that once dominated the league in his prime but not that significant compared to Shaq.

He actually have made a point when he said the Lakers needs him to beat the Nuggets or at least not getting swept. He helped the Lakers back in 2020 in containing Jokic to limit what he can do offensively and defensively. Though McGee was also there as they took turn in containing Jokic, but the Lakers really got a good help defense from Howard.
What I am thinking right now is that, the GSW should sign Howard real quick. With their current roster today, they're most definitely going to play small ball again, which is most probably not gonna work as they were exposed by the Lakers last playoffs. They badly need someone strong in the paint. I thought Howard could be a good pick, they'll just add another Center moving forward.
What do you guys think?

These two are going to attract a lot of fans. Although LeBron is already old, he can still play and compete well against the best in the NBA. A matchup between Durant and LeBron, especially if it happens in the WCF, would be exciting. That would mean one of them needs to beat the defending champion, which is the Denver Nuggets.

Durant is 34 years old and already prone to injury. However, if he takes good care of his body in the coming season, the Suns might have a significant chance to reach the Finals, especially considering they have other superstars on the team.

And, he doesn't really look that old, unlike other players in their veteran years. He is still fresh, can still jump with springs, and the defensive aggressiveness is still there. He just needs that one good opportunity again to prove he is worthy of a center position even if they just use them as a backup one.
I remember the last time he was on the Lakers he is always on the brink of fouling out but that is because he is playing defense on a higher level, it's just that it's not meant for this era anymore. One little touch seen by the officials can be an automatic foul.
But I do like to see him on the NBA floor again. He did quite an impressive feat on defending Jokic back in the bubble and that's when I became a fan of him. It's late but definitely unforgettable.

Yeah, it also sticks to my mind on how he play a young Jokic back then, I mean he uses his experienced and his veteran mentality on how to get inside track of Jokic causing him to lose his concentration and then the Lakers winning that series and eventually the championship that year against the Heat.

But then again after that the Lakers let go of his services and then no team pick him up when he can still be a good 10-15 minutes and giving them boards and playing defense. Only issue with Dwight though is that he could be quite toxic in the locker room as well?

I hate to say this, but his playstyle is way out already compare to other current bigs out there. On the other hand, I don't know if there will be a team that will try, and get him in the NBA even only with a veteran minimum contract, and I also wonder if Howard wants to play in the NBA still.

Dwight Howard's usual playstyle can still work at the current NBA even though most big men now can shoot 3s and do perimeter shots, only if he's currently in his prime. But since we can consider him already past his prime, teams can't rely on him much with his usual playstyle, especially with the offensive part. Although looking at the good side, he can still be a big threat defending the paint. His presence in the paint can force teams to only limit their offense outside, at least.

Not bad if teams will offer him a 1-year veteran minimum contract like what he did 3 times in the Los Angeles Lakers.

But your question is also good as mine, not sure if there's an NBA team that will give him another stint in the league.

Well, you might be right about the fact he saw the opportunity overseas that's why he went there, but I just don't know why he left the Lakers, and went there. I mean he's a big piece in their title run in the bubble, and many know that. I believe there's an internal issue around the team that we as fans don't know. Also the reason might be his playing time that's way lesser than what he wants. Maybe his attitude in the locker room is the reason why he went overseas, but whatever reason it is, I, and many here still believe that he can still be a big role player to the team.

What's problem with him compare to other bigs right now is his offense. Look at Jokic, Giannis, Embiid and other bigs out there, and look how Howard is playing. Those first 3 players that I said can shot in perimeter, and in the three-point area, and Howard can't do that even in the perimeter. Howard is a pure defender, and can only shoot at close range. I hate to say this, but his playstyle is way out already compare to other current bigs out there. On the other hand, I don't know if there will be a team that will try, and get him in the NBA even only with a veteran minimum contract, and I also wonder if Howard wants to play in the NBA still.

But we can't get over the comparison though, played with the same team, Orlando Magic, has good numbers with the team and brought them to the finals but lost.

But I do agree, if we are talking about who's dominant between the two, I would say Shaq, but it will be a good matchup in the middle if this two both plays in the same era, perhaps a Chamberlain vs Russell type of competition if they face each other in the court.
