This isn't just in the PBA but in most sports - people often think that games are rigged, but until now, no one has proven it. So it will just remain a speculation, and regardless, it won't affect the interest of the people in watching the game, especially for those real diehard fans.
Well, honestly that thinking will never be gone in any sporting event where gambling is also being done. It's not just all about the teams but it's the fans that are making these statements and thinking that they know better. It's possible that there really is match-fixing because it's seen for some sports but innocent until proven guilty. That's just a typical thought from the fans whenever the team they like didn't win especially if it's the finals.

Good thing that you still believe in our PBA kabayan hehe. Same here, I bet on the game thinking that it's not rigged or scripted as we sometimes jokingly say but based on the strength of the team and its adjustment made to win a ball game.

As a long-time PBA enthusiast here, I think for 20 years already, I'm not blind to those dramas, scripts, "bigayan", "Sagip Kapamilya" issues at some of the games. We can't really blame others who think that the league is scripted. Maybe yes, maybe no, but more importantly, I'm sure "most" games are still fair and square like what I pointed out before.

Actually, we can assume if the game is scripted or not if we watched the game live and we saw unusual things that are supposed not to happen.

Thanks for the correction, but this suspension might not have happened if the brawl did not occur. Additionally, since this game is public, is Big Beau foolish enough to play in that league despite knowing the possibility of getting suspended?

If I'm not mistaken that was an invitational game or some sort of that, and since Rain Or Shine is resting for a long now and PBA now finished its recent season, Belga thinks that it's fine not to coordinate on his team as this game he played is an event. Yes, if there's no brawl happening, Belga might get away from the possible suspension. Abueva before has the same case if I'm not mistaken, playing outside the PBA even under a live contract.

Belga should be more careful as he is not getting any younger, he is lucky to still have a contract with the ROS, but if he continues breaking the rules, we might not be able to see him again in the PBA.

Can this game-fixing allegation affect your betting behavior on the game we love in the Philippines guys?

Saw this news too but decided not to share it here because I have lots of questions that will make my mind blow and since the news only stated a few and lack of information, what we will have here is only guesses and speculation. Some of my concern is, even though Sangalang intentionally takes part in it, if his teammates don't know what will be the supposed scenario, therefore, how Sangalang can even control the supposed flow of the game?

As for the question of yours kabayan, no, it won't affect my betting behavior in the PBA as one mistake by a player, for let's say it was confirmed, won't generalize the overall behavior of the whole league. Still, I do see most games are fair and square regardless if it's between sister teams or not.

That's also what I'm thinking kabayan, it's very hard to pull the job if you are alone, and just like what Sangalang said that he won't risk his career on that few hundred thousand of pesos if ever they do that. This will be just another accusation that will die a natural death as this is very hard to prove.

Good thing that you still believe in our PBA kabayan hehe. Same here, I bet on the game thinking that it's not rigged or scripted as we sometimes jokingly say but based on the strength of the team and its adjustment made to win a ball game.

First, congratulations to TNT.
Too many controversies and issues are happening to Philippine Basketball. This one that I'll mention is also related to PBA because it includes PBA players. Our very own Gilas seem to have not in condition and they even lack players. Some players already stated their beg-off.

They can't force players who aren't going to play. We have a huge number of players on our roster, so I think the coach should know how to utilize them and give them the opportunity to represent our country. Surely, they are hungry for this kind of opportunity.
Yes, they can't force players and that's why many don't seem to be interested as they've got other reasons to beg off. I think the whole thing started when it was all about its coach and the management, SBP. Many Filipinos are disappointed on how these lead are managing the country's team.

We need players with heart, players who are willing to sacrifice just to fight for our country through this particular sport. Just like what happened to Abando, he was only benched by Coach Chot, but in reality, he is a great player. So, maybe they can start finding someone like him and give that player his moment to shine.
All of them wanted to represent the country but if most of them are declining, there goes the problem comes from the coach itself. They don't want to be humiliated in front of many basketball Filipino fans. Thus, they're now having a lesser pool of players. I guess we're still in the "learning phase" just as what has been said by Chot. The pity team has got a lot of great talents with heart but only uses those he likes and favors and I hope this is an eye opener to the PSC and SBP.

But first, Gilas or the National team need to change mentors, hahaha! I don't want to proceed to this kind of statement as I know by my heart that there are many qualified players who just needs opportunity and willing to come out and represent our country, if there're a change in the coaching side for sure those players may have their own share to play with our National team.

Players like Abando and Abarrientos who both love in representing our Nationals are being neglected by the current coach. I think both can provide decent numbers as we are seeing them competing overseas and outshining the locals.

Big Beau has been suspended. This guy really cannot control his temper on the court. He's already in the PBA, so maybe his pride was hurt by whatever happened in Cebu. I'm not surprised, actually, as Big Beau sometimes has altercations with his opponents in the PBA, but this one is just too much.

Technically, the suspension wasn't because of the brawl. Regardless if Beau Belga was involved in the brawl or not, or let's say the brawl didn't really happen, the game where he was involved was not sanctioned by the governing league. A PBA player under a live contract can't just be involved or participate in the league outside the PBA. What if they got injured? That's why it should be subject to suspension.
Thanks for the correction, but this suspension might not have happened if the brawl did not occur. Additionally, since this game is public, is Big Beau foolish enough to play in that league despite knowing the possibility of getting suspended?

We each have our own betting style, and personally, every time I bet on PBA, I always consider the possibility of game fixing. With this kind of thinking, I have found myself to be more successful compared to the past where I only relied on the stats to determine a team's chance of winning.

Ian Sangalang denies game-fixing allegations, plans legal action vs. accuser

Just read this news article recently and decided to post it here to know your reactions to the alleged involvement of Ian Sangalang and other basketball players in this controversy.

Though this game-fixing allegation happen sometime in the year 2018, if proven that this is true then I think illegal things are still happening in the PBA right now, just no one surfaced to divulge the crime.

Can this game-fixing allegation affect your betting behavior on the game we love in the Philippines guys?

http://www.cnnphilippines.com/sports/2023/4/24/Ian-Sangalang-Koa-Wei-Quan-Singapore-game-fixing-PBA.html

I see this around one of social media account and I did watch the clips though if you know Ian you might wonder why he was playing that way but it won't prove anything and with the allegation Ian have a right to sue this person who from him he really don't know personally, a good way to clean his name and also the reputation of the league together with his team.

I'm pretty sure it won't get any attention. It will die as same with all this accusation before about game fixing.

PBA knows how to take care of this kind of mess. In regard to my betting behavior, I'll go with the script and try to recognize
which one would might be re-arranged hahaha!

RoS suspends Beau Belga without pay for involvement in Cebu game, brawl

RAIN or Shine has suspended Beau Belga for six working days without pay for his involvement in a basketball game in Cebu, a video of which went viral recently.

In my opinion, it's not interesting. He's not even a celebrity in the PBA, and we know he's not a calm player, so that's not unexpected. Actually, there's more interesting news than that, and that's the mention of "game-fixing".

https://pba.ph/news/sangalang-to-take-legal-action-against-game-fixing-accuser

Quote
IAN Sangalang will be taking appropriate actions against the Singaporean businessman who implicated him in an alleged game-fixing incident during the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup finals.

The Magnolia big man denied ever knowing Koa Wei Quan, the former owner of transportation firm Koa Motor, who is facing 14 graft charges in the State Courts in Singapore for influencing games played in the PBA and the Thailand Basketball League between the months of April and July of that same year.

Sangalang said he doesn't know nor was he even introduced to the 32-year-old businessman.

In a report that came out of the Singapore-based The Straits Times, Koa allegedly offered Sangalang a bribe of $5,000 to influence the outcome of Game 5 of the all-Filipino title series between Magnolia and San Miguel.

The Beermen won the game in double overtime, 108-99, to clinch the championship.

It was a game in 2018, but the issue of game-fixing has always been present in our discussions here. Do you guys think that Sanggalang has something to do with it?

Southeast Asian Games, though will not be that competitive, is a good tune-up game for the Gilas team.

Honestly, that's the most concern to me now that Gilas needs to win before we can talk about the biggest basketball competition. Before we used to think that SEA Games basketball is a good tune-up game for Gilas as the Philippines reign the men's basketball competition here in almost 3 decades.

Last SEA games, Gilas was upset by the country Indonesia and has a perfect record of 6-0 in the men's basketball.

If Gilas won't win the gold medal in SEA Games, what can we expect from them in much biggest upcoming competition, the ASIAN Games and FIBA World Cup?

To summarize, Gilas is so busy this year that's why PBA needs to do some adjustments:

- SouthEast Asian Games - May 5 - May 17
- FIBA World Cup - August 23 - September 10
- ASIAN Games - September 23 - October 8, 2023
- PBA 48th season - mid-October ETA with only 2 conferences (All-Filipino or either Commissioners Cup or Governors Cup)
What a busy schedule for Gilas, well players are already preparing for this as they will face power house and we have to bounce back from a shocking loss in SEA games, I hope Gilas will play better this time. I’m not expecting though to have a win on FIBA as we are on a category of champions and playing against them is just like a fight between Davin and Goliath. We will surely miss PBA, this is a good time for other players to train well.

With the preparation I can assume that we can reclaim the gold medal in Sea Games with Brownlee now in our lineup that will be a good addition not just for offense but also with his defensive capabilities, same with your assessment, FIBA might be far from us even when we will going to play here in our country the bracketing is too difficult with the selection of heavyweights winning might be impossible,

A great experienced might it be for team Gilas, just showcase their talents and be proud in playing with pride of representing our flag.

This is good for Gilas. They will have plenty of time to prepare for the FIBA World Cup. They at least have 3 months to practice and get good chemistry going on. Southeast Asian Games, though will not be that competitive, is a good tune-up game for the Gilas team. There will be lot of expectations for Gilas since they will be playing at home. Hopefully, there will be a good program that could create the best Gilas team to compete for the World Cup.

I’m expecting for a huge crowd in FIBA as fans are more eager to see the players and not watch the game, I’m looking for a ticket now but its too expensive for me, hoping that I can see NBA players to playing live. SEA games will surely be a big game as well, we have to take back the championship and with the line up of Gilas, I wish them a success on this. Let’s just have a bet and enjoy watching.

I am sure there will be a huge crowd and I think, even if the price of the ticket will be pricey, Filipinos will do their best to secure tickets for matches of the top teams where NBA players play. It will be our chance to watch NBA players play live.

I just realized that we will never see PBA games for several months from now as the 48th season will be in October instead (from September) because of a conflict of schedules on events. It's to show the league support for Gilas in this year's FIBA World Cup which will be held on August 23 - September 10 and the ASIAN games, which will be held on September 23 – October 8, 2023.

For now, what the Gilas is currently focused on is to prepare in reclaiming the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games Men's Basketball which will be held from May 5 - May 17, 2023. Justin Brownlee is so hyped to play right now and motivated to reclaim the gold medal for the Gilas after his last PBA Finals loss.

To summarize, Gilas is so busy this year that's why PBA needs to do some adjustments:
