Guys, I'll just be different but this is still related to Philippine Basketball. Mario Chalmers is going to play with Zamboanga Valientes. This is surprising yet very exciting to see that local teams (not from PBA) are also having their stars and this is for sure going to attract more fans to watch the team.

Saw this news right now and that's a good player to play with the team, though the current standing of Zamboanga Valientes in ASEAN Basketball League is not that good, let's see if an NBA Champion can help the team to be on a better position for the next round. Looking forward as well to see the former NBA player that will play in PBA with NLEX. Looks like basketball opportunity in the Philippines is slowly growing, hope they can also attract local players to stay.

That will attract viewers. I wonder how much the Zamboanga Valientes are paying him. He is old but he still can play and be competitive, especially in Philippines basketball.
I'm also thinking that it seems that they won't disclose it and that's a confidential matter. Maybe soon once Chalmers ends his contract there then we're going to get a glimpse of how much the Valients paid for him. I think retirees of the NBA, this is where they're going.
They'll be offered contract to play offshore even in the slightest league that they want to play because the passion remains and as long as the pay could be decent and acceptable to them, they won't mind playing for them.

Northport now is undermanned, Bollick is not playing due to minor injury, but good thing is that they have a good import, a short one but very aggressive in attacking the basket. Northport is the underdog but I'm trusting them to win this game with the help of their import.

Northport import was good but only in the first half of the game. Once Converge figured him out, they locked him down. And Northport locals were not able to help their import. Converge took the game with a big lead against Northport. I would like to point out how I like the discipline of Converge in this game. Even though they are already on a big lead and sure of winning the game, they never let go of their aggressiveness. They are still pushing the ball even in the dying minutes when the lead is over 30 points. I like that attitude of Converge.

Speaking of NorthPort locals, Robick Bolick did not play on this game, outcome might be different had he played because we all know how important he is in every NorthPort plays plus he averaged double digits in point production. No, he doesn't have an injury but rumors had it that NorthPort management and Bolick had yet to sit down and talked about the contract extension as his contract will expire this coming January 31.

If this will not be ironed out, rumors have it also that a company/persons are willing to bring this ace point guard of NorthPort to Taiwan thus causing another problem to the PBA.

That will hurt Northport a lot. Robert Bollick has been a steady source of offense to the Northport. He has been carrying this team since he joined them. But we cannot blame PBA superstars for transferring to leagues abroad since the pay is substantially higher than what PBA can offer. Their time as basketball players is just limited and if they can get more benefits financially somewhere else, we cannot stop them from going abroad.

Import of Rain or shine had a very bad game.

honesty, this is the first time I saw an import who are shooting very low.
https://fibalivestats.dcd.shared.geniussports.com/u/PBA/2229798/bs.html#

As you can see on the stats above, Qualls only made 3 shots of 22 attempts, that's only 13% Shooting percentage. very low.
Too bad for an import, they should play more together as a team and maybe they are still on the adjustment period. Anyway, this is just their first hame and ROS can still improve what is lack with the team. Meralco is just playing their ace game, they are more consistent and has a great plays compare to ROS, their import also perform well which ROS was not able to handle it.
As import, you should be the one to contribute a lot for the team but with that performance, I guess they are missing its purpose and they have to address that issue if ROS wants to have a better conference this time. Its too early but they have to work on that right now because every team now has improve and they become more competitive. James Yap can be a big help for ROS, but they import should work as well.

That might be possible since he already playing in this league for quite a while and he still don't have the competitive squad to matchup with the super-team, if an offer to play overseas will give him huge amount of profits, I'm sure he will not hesitate to grab that opportunities, just like what Matthew Wright did, not seeing any potential of his team to be a good contender for the ring, he move overseas and now enjoying that huge salaries.

Rumors might be true or he's just preparing for a good trade that might take place. Maybe he will be traded to another SMC franchise.

Let's wait and see if what will be the development in terms of his contract.

I hope that he'll be able to give the team a boost and that they'll be able to cope with the shortcoming that they have if ever they have. Importing him was already a big thing and sort of achievement for the team and this basketball nation is starting to see that there really are foreign players even from the NBA that are okay to play with a Pinoy team. Yeah, I'm also looking forward that PBA will also have such players like him being imported by any franchise, and hopefully not in Pangilinan and SMC teams.

Not a good night for this import while his counterpart got a good start, though we all know that McDaniels is expected to perform better than him as this dude already played with the team late last season, that's an advantage which chemistry already been established among them, if they will continue playing like this, I'm pretty sure Meralco will be on top again.

I just can't missed pointing this out, King James debut on this new season is really amazing, 14 points after missing lots of games.

He's simply amazing, hopefully coach Yeng will find good combinations to bounce back and make some good win.

I hope Northport will come back in the 2nd half, they are undermanned and now down 20 points at the half. They need a huge effort to make it a close game, otherwise, we will again witness a lopsided game. If there's a good bet here, I think it will be Northport -1.5 in the 3rd quarter.

Meralco have a good import, so I think they will win this game. They are leading by 12 points already, if this will be a close game, I believe ROS will run out of time and Meralco will still win on the game opener. I'm not taking the bait anymore, the odds is 12 for ROS to win, so I'll close my eyes and just wait for the next game.
Meralco won, and both teams did a great job. I really though ROS is on a better position here as they have the good lead in 2nd quarter not until the import of Meralco started to fire out. What a starting game for Mcdaniels, he's one of the best and he just need the help of the team to be more consistent, that was a great opening game.
I think Brownlee has a good rival now, we haven't seen the performance of other import but we know that Mcdaniels is a talented import, whatever team he is playing with, he makes the team better. Coach Norman is lucky to have an import like him, hopefully no more hindrance for Mcdaniels to finish the season and bring the Boltz to the playoffs.
This could be a great match up, but without the help of the local players it will be hard for Meralco to match with Ginebra, they should be more aggressive and stay compost for this whole conference. The game between Meralco and ROS was a good opening, it's also good to see James Yap back in court contributing to ROS with a 12 points as expected, if ROS will start to play more as a team this can be a deadly team as well. The game between Nortport and Converge is still ongoing, converge with a good lead in the first half.

It's nice to witness the first game of the conference.

Bolts and Rain or Shine are currently playing now, Bolts had a good start but the ROS were able to have their run to make it a close game. It's hard to predict what team will win here as both teams are capable of having their own big run to stay in the game.

I guess Meralco is the slight favorite here.

Still a close game between these two teams, very balance match up and both are really trying to win though it's too early to predict and it's the first game of the season, we might see upset or maybe later after the first half we might see a huge rally from Meralco or a vice-versa, let's enjoy the game and observe if how both teams improves their squad with the import that they've got.
