Bad decision by the coach of Bay Area, they didn't play Powell with heavy minutes knowing this is the last game. If only he was given a chance to played heavy minutes, certainly there's a good chance they can make it a close game and maybe win the game. If only Nicholson wasn't injured, things could be different, I mean Ginebra can still win but it will not be a blowout win.

35 minutes of playing time aren't that bad. The Coach of Bay Area Dragons knows what he's doing. Smiley

When Dragons already know that they can't keep up with Ginebra even how hard they tried, there's no point in risking Powell more.

There's a better stage for the Dragons compared to winning the PBA Finals. They need to become healthy on the real stage, the EASL Championship series.

Even when he was in the court, he could not made any difference. He is already forcing the drive into the paint, and getting fouls but he is not making the free throws. Their 3 points was missing in that game, that is why they got blown out by Ginebra. They cannot attack the paint because of the tight defense and all they have left was forced 3. It was very seldom that they got an open 3. Credit should go to the players of Ginebra who had a tight and relentless defense against the dragon. The Dragons failed to adjust to the defense of Ginebra.

Is Brownlee is still eligible to play? He is now a Filipino, so he can play as a Filipino and if Ginebra will get an import, I think this team will become a champion easily. Do we have an information regarding this? please share so we will be aware.
Yes, that actually is. He's now a Filipino citizen and no longer an import and I think that Ginebra will take care of him otherwise, other teams will take care of him. Also, AFAIK, he's now added to the Gilas pool.

Yes, he is the import in the Gilas squad which is why they grant him his citizenship. About Brownlee playing as a regular in Ginebra, that will be to unfair for the other teams. Ginebra will have a constant import in their roster if that happens. I hope PBA will not let this happen. It will ruin the competition.

I can’t see Brownlee playing with the other team but to make this more healthy probably it will happen in the future or Ginebra will have another good import to play with Brownlee, if this will be the case then Ginebra can easily be a champion again. PBA should know how to balance the teams and not to approve all the proposed trade because imagine if all those sister companies will get top players there will no more competition.
They don't know how to balance teams, there have been several discussions on how MVP and SMC teams are overpowered. While the other teams have no intention of winning called as farm teams.
Yeah, we may say that Brownlee might not play for the other teams but if Ginebra management is done with him, you don't say that as we don't know what's the future ahead with this.
But as of the moment, he's getting the recognition that he deserves and he's got a special place now in the Philippine Basketball not just in the PBA and Ginebra.

By the way, when is the next conference?
It's the governor's cup which is assumed to start by next week (January 22) and will end around month of April.

What are your thoughts on these big trade rumors? Yay or Nay?

That was a 100% bullshit trade. Trades like that should have a strong disagreement from the PBA Commissioner but since it's business nothing we can do.

They even called that trade fair and what a big lol. If those mid-tier teams are not that serious about competing in the PBA, they should just quit. Imagine, they are joining PBA but don't want to spend more on getting big players. And the worst, they are giving up their good drafted players in exchange for veterans or those who already passed their prime as part of the farming cycle.

The league is in need of a commissioner that has the guts to veto those insane trade block that was clearly unfair from the start. But even the likes of Yeng Guiao will sit as the new PBA Chief, nothing he can do with the big influence of the SMC teams in the league that served as the top foundation since then.

Which is true, even Guiao will handle the league, his capability to avoid those kinds of trades still limited, unless he will be brave enough to sanction both SMC and MVP, which I doubt he can. The current situation should be handed over to the government on my personal take here, if there's an intervention coming from the government this kind of trades can be avoided, and those teams who are not willing to spent should be replaced by the company who can throw more money, let choks to go to enter the league or some-a-like company who can really compete,

I missed those eras where PBA was still in balance in terms of squad, Shell, Sta.Lucia and alaska some of the team who can really provide a decent amount of allocation to get good players to have a competitive squad.

I read this article about the import of SMB, seems like we have a good import that could match up Brownlee if he will play.

About the start of the next conference, maybe it will start soon as imports are already showing their presence.
It's not a problem if it will be a short conference as long as we will see the Finals.
After a big win by Ginebra, can we still expect them to win next conference?
SMB definitely will come back as they had a bad conference, they were suppose to be the best team in the PBA, but when Brownlee came it, things had really change.

We might see interesting match up but to my knowledge it will be a short conference or there's some adjustment that PBA needs to do, giving way for the FIBA league, I see updates regarding to those upcoming imports we can only judge them one by one once they already playing with their respective squad.

Let the Gin kings celebrate first. They deserve the party after winning the game in the final do-or-die game.

Of course, let them enjoy for their hard earned V.

Trade rumors before Governor's Cup. Chris Ross, Marcio Lassiter and Mo Tautuaa are reportedly in a trading block to acquire Robert Bolick, Joshua Munzon and Isaac Go. They are willing to give up their key players to acquire the younger players. Which is fine, they are aging and after all, business is business. Tautuaa is rumored to go to Magnolia. What are your thoughts on these big trade rumors? Yay or Nay?

SMB probably are rebuilding, they are letting go of their old players and are just investing on the young ones.
CJ will probably lead the team along with JMF. Also, maybe Romeo will be traded too.

I'm expecting a close game in 4th quarter when Ginebra starting to miss their 3s and Bay Area slowly closing in but Gin Kings is able to maintain a 2-digit lead. Bay Area struggles in the free throw line until 4th quarter. Jamie Malonzo's points in 3rd quarter really helped Ginebra a lot. I'm expecting more from Bay Area. I'm kinda disappointed, there's no much help from other players. Still, Congrats to bettors of Ginebra.

Bay are just playing their game, they don't have a bad game actually, it's just that Ginebra are suddenly becoming a very good team, they do it at the right timing, their shooting percentage is very high, and not only Brownlee who are contributing, the locals are also giving their best to have a good lead.

Yes, Bay Area were able to trim the lead of Ginebra, courtesy of Myles Powell, but that charge was still short though, Ginebra still win the game.

Maybe there coach knows that they are so behind and they cannot risk their player anymore since looks how Powell got scouted and he is heavily guarded that's why he got missed shots. Also the performance of Ginebra players is really great especially Thompson do all his best to give good fight this last game of this series. There whole roosters works very well so its really the Ginebra time to get the championship and many fans is happy for their achievement this season.

Not a close game, but the performances of both teams are good enough to end the finals. Gin kings protect the pride of the league.

Congrats to all who cheer and bet for them!
Bay Area did their best but it's not good enough as the crowd already knows Ginebra will win. It will be fun to watch if at least Bay Area lead the game and knowing Ginebra who has an NSD attitude, they will have a big run in the 4th quarter to win the game. That's the kind of scenario that I like to see, but you know it didn't happen because Ginebra already had 20+ points lead in the 1st half.

By the way, when is the next conference?

Maybe yes or maybe the coach see it differently that's why he didn't risk Powell anymore, I do see the competitiveness inside the Dragons but that huge crowd really affects the game, Gin kings squad are very aggressive they are all giving the crowd a reason to cheer for more, something that those who watch it live will enjoy and be the best value for their money.

Just a short period of rest and PBA will now come back again with the new conference on January 22.

Expect new imports at some teams.
Now that the Commissioner's Cup is over, maybe let's shift the topic to Governor's Cup now shall we? Smiley

Most of the teams are still changing their import and the latest is the Beermen getting Cameron Clark. Still, teams might change their import in the next 6 days but for Ginebra, I guess we already know who will be their import right Cheesy.

Is Brownlee is still eligible to play? He is now a Filipino, so he can play as a Filipino and if Ginebra will get an import, I think this team will become a champion easily. Do we have an information regarding this? please share so we will be aware.

I lost my bet but that's ok as long as we had fun watching the whole game.
TBH, Game 6 was more intense than this one. I mean from the start of the first quarter, the Dragons didn't get the lead already and when the Ginebra got that double-digit lead, they didn't look back. The Dragons tried to cut the lead, but Ginebra will still make ways to score.

It's a three point party for the Ginebra on the first half thus, they ended the half with a 22 point lead. Special mention to those who defended Powell as well as he isn't as efficient as he is though he scored 29 points, his presence and his offense cannot be felt on the court and it's because of the good rotation, double and sometimes triple team against him.

Congratulations to Ginebra fans and to the 54,589 who watched it on person. That's the largest number of participants in an PBA game ever and even Coach Goorjian was overwhelmed by the amount of fans who watched.

Congrats to Ginebra bettors and I'm not one of those. Just watched the game silently in my room and not that exciting game.

The game between Hawks vs Raptors just recently is even more exciting lol.
