Gilas' next window will be on February 25 and 28 against Lebanon and Jordan respectively.
Where do we see the ticket sales for this match? And is any of you going to watch any of these series? I think I'll invite my brother and pops on watching the 28 of Feb game since it's going to be Tuesday and it's not going to be that hectic at all unless my leave is granted.

Lol. What the hell is happening with SMB management even Terrence Romeo is included in the trade rumors. I'd rather change the Coach than trade these key players. If this will happen, I'm not surprised if Fajardo will be traded as well after a few more years without getting a championship. They even traded Cabagnot and Arwind Santos before, so they will do the same. As usual, trades will always be approved, under the table?
You surprised?

They've been doing this for a long time already. They will get young players and when they got old, regardless of their achievement and what they did to the team, they will trade them to another team (specifically in those farm teams) to get younger players. The cycle keeps going on and on and on and the management hasn't been doing anything to stop it.

Ross, Lassiter, Romeo, and Enciso. All of them have impacts to the team especially Ross and Lassiter as they are part of the so-called "Death 5". I didn't surprised that they put the 2 of them in the trading block since they are old already. Romeo is injured in most of his time with SMB and Enciso is the one I'm surprised because he is in the SMB for a short time only, but who knows. It's still only rumors and rumors will stay as rumors until it happen, right? Like you said, they even traded Cabagnot and Santos that has a big achievement towards SMB's success so no surprised for me that they put Ross and Lassiter as well.

Fajardo? As long as he is dominant, they will not trade him. Under the table? There is a high chance that it is happening, but we don't have any evidences and the only thing that we have is theories.
This is no surprise with most of the teams, even if you give them loyalty, they won't be loyal to you. And that's why when B League have offered a good contract to Romeo he should have took the opportunity instead of being vocal of his loyalty to the team.

Alex Cabagnot and Arwind aren't in the same league and status as June Mar Fajardo in terms of being San Miguel Beermen. The Kraken is in no way will be traded even at his post-prime performance since he's already a Franchise Player and the achievement he brings to the SMB are all spectacular.

Romeo is not even an original Beermen and is now injury-prone therefore, he's always possible to be put on the team's trading list.

About changing the coach, although others are in favor of that for a long time already, sorry but Coach Leo Austria does have something magical stuff on him why he remains as their coach. Cheesy

They had reached the semi finals last conference, if they didn't face the Bay Area in the semi, they might likely be in the Finals. It could be Gineba vs SMB which I believe is a good match up, the only advantage is that Ginebra had a good import while SMB has an inconsistent one.

On the last note, if JC will choose to play, then JBL will give the space for him, right? Like what you mentioned, it's only a backup purpose in case JC is not available due to other schedules that may prevent him from playing in FIBA.

That's correct. If Jordan Clarkson is not suitable to play on Gilas specifically in the World Cup, Justin Brownlee is the backup. From now on though, expect Justin Brownlee to be the always face we will see in Gilas as its naturalized player on other basketball events such as Asian games, SEA games, etc.

It's only the FIBA qualifying games that Clarkson won't make it to because of the current NBA season but in the FIBA World Cup, NBA is in the off-season so we can expect that Clarkson might be available.

Gilas' next window will be on February 25 and 28 against Lebanon and Jordan respectively.

Mirakal should change the title from 2020 to 2023. The games are back on Sunday and it's a jampack game in the Philsports Arena.
4:30 pm ~ Meralco vs ROS
6:45 pm ~ Converge vs Northport

I've read the news that Myles Powell is trying to be scouted by the Converge, anyone who knows what's the development with that?

I don't think they will trade Fajardo, he is still playing. They have to remember that JMF was the one brining plenty of championships for the team, trading him is an insult especially if he can still produce close to what he can during his prime or when he is not prone to injury yet.

You are right, SMB Beermen will not trade Fajardo for now because he is still usable and still got 2 to 3 years of playing competitively as the man in the middle for them. There are rumors circulating in the social media that there may be changes in the coaching staff so let's wait for this to explode but i find it hard to believe since coach Austria is a very likeable coach.

For the meantime JMF is safe for any trade within 2-3 years but we know injury already hitting him and his age as well, SMB is not a fan of keeping their franchise player, Remember both Danny I and Danny S, players who bring pride to this team for a long time, and adding to that are Santos and Cabagnot, after some years we will hear rumors about JMF unless he will retire first before the trade.

Maybe Romeo will be traded because of the injury problem, certainly there are some teams who would be interested on him.

Romeo for Bolick, this is the trade that has been floating around for some time now.

Not sure about that, but Terrence doesn't have any option if SMB will trade him his injury really hurt his career and nothing that he can control if the management decides to let him go.

Since others do have a question or concern about Ginebra should get another import as Brownlee is now a Filipino, this is my point of view.

Naturalized players are being pushed for the sake of playing in our Gilas team. It's not meant for PBA. As far as PBA rules are concerned, naturalized players are still considered as import therefore Justin Brownlee is still an import. Remember Marcus Douthit? He still plays as an import even as a naturalized player.

I remember that and I also have that same sentiment regarding to that concern, if PBA will allow Brownlee to play as local due to his new citizenship what team can stop them if another import will be added to their squad? come to think of possible lineup, CStand, Japeth, Scottie, JBL and the import.. Roll Eyes Grin Hahahaha..

Quote
Just imagine, if PBA imports will be eligible to play as a local when they are granted a Filipino citizen, it will bring unbalanced to the league which is currently unbalanced right now. Again, players like Brownlee are just being considered with a Filipino nationality because of one reason, to be able to play with our national team. The uncertain availability of Jordan Clarkson in PH's FIBA games is one of the reasons too that's why it was being pushed.

On the last note, if JC will choose to play, then JBL will give the space for him, right? Like what you mentioned, it's only a backup purpose in case JC is not available due to other schedules that may prevent him from playing in FIBA.

Bad decision by the coach of Bay Area, they didn't play Powell with heavy minutes knowing this is the last game. If only he was given a chance to played heavy minutes, certainly there's a good chance they can make it a close game and maybe win the game. If only Nicholson wasn't injured, things could be different, I mean Ginebra can still win but it will not be a blowout win.

35 minutes of playing time aren't that bad. The Coach of Bay Area Dragons knows what he's doing. Smiley

When Dragons already know that they can't keep up with Ginebra even how hard they tried, there's no point in risking Powell more.

There's a better stage for the Dragons compared to winning the PBA Finals. They need to become healthy on the real stage, the EASL Championship series.

Maybe the timing is just wrong because they didn't give him enough minutes in the 1st half. He only played more when the lead was not manageable anymore, if there was a time restriction, then he should not be played 35 minutes.

Lam has the longest minutes with 44.

Coach did not gave him more minutes in the first half because he knows that Bay Area are good in the first half, so he was just preparing him to go full blast in the 2nd half. Unfortunately for the Bay Area, they were outscored in the 1st half, I mean hugely dominated and since Ginebra is a 2nd half team, that didn't anymore give the dragon more chance to come back.

The pressure came to them both in and outside of the court, while the home team was fully inspired of that huge crowd the dragons has been outscored, we can't deny the fact that if in case the coach bring Powell in before that huge leads has been established maybe the outcome is not like this in terms of spread, they might got much closer and can initiate the snatch in the last few minutes but we saw the outcome and nothing can be change now.

We all need to move forward and start talking about the upcoming governors' cup, new challenges and new faces from all the teams that will compete together with their reinforcements.

But still a good match my Bay Area dragons, they gave all their best to win, and they play very good and well But the huge defense by the local players of PBA Bay Area dragons players did not make their goal to be a champion. Also what we saw on the performances of the barangay Ginebra is they are unstoppable, Japeth Aguilar, Thompson and especially their import doing great inside and outside shooting they really do it.

Nothing to say kabayan, both teams really give everything it just so happen that the Gin kings is much inspired protecting the pride of our league, but we really also give credit to the Dragons who push thier way to extend the game in completing the game 7, hopefully they will comeback and add more competition inside the league.

Moving forward to the next conference and hoping to see another sets of good competitions from all the teams if possible..

Hopefully and crossing my fingers..

Is Brownlee is still eligible to play? He is now a Filipino, so he can play as a Filipino and if Ginebra will get an import, I think this team will become a champion easily. Do we have an information regarding this? please share so we will be aware.
Yes, that actually is. He's now a Filipino citizen and no longer an import and I think that Ginebra will take care of him otherwise, other teams will take care of him. Also, AFAIK, he's now added to the Gilas pool.

Yes, he is the import in the Gilas squad which is why they grant him his citizenship. About Brownlee playing as a regular in Ginebra, that will be to unfair for the other teams. Ginebra will have a constant import in their roster if that happens. I hope PBA will not let this happen. It will ruin the competition.
For now.

He will be an import when he plays in the Ginebra "for now". Well, that's what I read in a reliable Facebook sports page. Him playing as a local player and not an import will have a great effect in the league in both ways. It will make the Ginebra so strong but on the other hand, it will make the competitiveness of the league way lesser (it has been low I know but it will make it way lesser). It might come to a point where independent teams might just walk away letting the league be a SMC vs. MVP league.

Overall, him being the naturalized player of the Gilas would be better for him. Now if the Ginebra will put him as a local player, TBH I might not watch PBA anymore. Brownlee is 34 years old though so his impact in the team might decrease overtime because of his age. I don't know but it might happen.

Trade rumors before Governor's Cup. Chris Ross, Marcio Lassiter and Mo Tautuaa are reportedly in a trading block to acquire Robert Bolick, Joshua Munzon and Isaac Go. They are willing to give up their key players to acquire the younger players. Which is fine, they are aging and after all, business is business. Tautuaa is rumored to go to Magnolia. What are your thoughts on these big trade rumors? Yay or Nay?
Nothing new. After all it's SMC and we know how SMC is doing unbalanced trades. Add Enciso and Romeo on the list because I also saw them on the list (just rumors).

Getting elite and young players and when they are at their post-prime already, they will make unbalanced trades to get young talented players and the cycle keeps on and on and on. Older players will be traded and younger players will either be traded to Beermen immediately, or they will put it into a sister team first then they will get after 1-2 years.

Thoughts on big trade rumors? If it's SMC, no comment into it because they have been doing this for years and the management doesn't do anything to stop it and we fans can do right now is to just criticize what they are doing.
