I will go with ROS 8.5 @1.87

Bad bet, looks like ROS is not into the game, they lost by a huge margin to the Magnolia Hotshots.

118-87, Magnolia well covered the spread here.
Congrats to those who pick the heavy favorite, it was -7.5 I believe.

It was a team effort, seeing the boxscore, you can see there's plenty of players that tallied a double digit contribution.

I think coach Chot should also not be blamed here but the committee that appointed him to be the coach.
He would always say it's a learning experience, LOL, we have enough of that already, we want results and we didn't get that under him.

Oh, he can always decline the offer. He should let other coaches take the reign and have a shot in directing the Gilas squad. He already achieved a lot in 2013 when he led Gilas to qualify for FIBA world cup and in 2014 when they showed good basketball in FIBA World. But his game style does not work now, so it is better to give other coaches a chance.

Back to the PBA, we have a very interesting game today as Converge fight for dear life against Blackwater. If they win today their hope of advancing to the next stage is still alive and the odds for this game favor Converge so I will be taking this one because Blackwater is not a team that can be relied upon in this kind of situation, just my thought.

Converge -1.5 @1.84...

It's a must-win for both teams, not sure who will win but you are right, Converge is more reliable because they have more experience than Blackwater in tough situations like an elimination game.

Converge won by 2 points, 92-90. Blackwater had the chance to take it to overtime but they missed an open shot by the rim in the last seconds. It was a good play, but the shot did not go in.

It will be Magnolia vs Rain or Shine next game. Magnolia is favored to win but ROS needed the win more. Since converge won their game, ROS also need this win to go to the next round.

I will go with ROS 8.5 @1.87

Time now for Chot to realize that his system is not workable with international competitions, also time for SBP to look for other resources in the next FIBA qualifiers.

Don't know what is happening inside but I agree with you, time for coach Chot Reyes to step down as Gilas coach and listen to the voice of the people who are tired of seeing Gilas losses.

Japan is too much for Gilas 21 points deficit is something that can't be rallied back, it was fully dominated by Japan and even the Gilas did try to bounce back that big lead from the first quarter is too much to cope up, the hope for National team was ended here, after losing we are no longer qualified to move forward.
I missed the game but I watched the previous games of Japan and they are quite impressive. Compared to the current roster of Gilas, they have better outside shooting.

Time now for Chot to realize that his system is not workable with international competitions, also time for SBP to look for other resources in the next FIBA qualifiers.
There is an article I read that PBA will only have 2 conferences next year to give way for Gilas to have longer preparation. This also means that the main gun for Gilas will be joining the roster. The ones listed are June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Dwight Ramos, Kai Sotto,  and (I do not know if it is true) Jordan Clarkson. Hopefully, we have a better coach to command this roster.

Why is it that there is no discussion of the progress of our beloved Gilas in the ongoing FIBA Asia Championship Cup?  Grin

Japan vs Gilas in a few hours, odds are not favoring the Philippines and the spread is quite high so if you are still a believer of Gilas then this is the time to push that bet button lol.

Personally, I'm having a hard time choosing whom to bet but being a patriot, I choose Gilas +13.5 @1.95 (boosted), I'm just hoping that they will make this game as close as possible because winning against Japan is a slim possibility with the current state of our Gilas team.

If Gilas will give a great fight, then I think betting on the ML is good. I'd like to see them win despite of the short preparation and a bit undermanned, so that ML odds should be sweet if it will hit.

B-Leauge always has a better player than the PBA, even the highest paid player in the PBA which is JMF still earns lower than what the Filipino players in B League are earning. It's actually very tempting to sign for the B- league if Wright's reason for leaving is money.

Of course, B-league has a better salary since they are focused on getting foreign players to play as an import. If a league is getting imports, they should give a better contract. In PBA, the salary is standard for local players but if you look at how they paid imports, you will see that it's almost the same as the offer in B-league the same goes for our players that are acting as an import too for outside the country leagues.

Nothing to worry about if Japan is scouting our talents. Remember that not all will have the privilege and chances to play in their B-League.

Overall, how many players in the PBA decided to play in Japan? The numbers aren't that alarming and these scouts are only focused on few players.

They are also scouting in other countries, not just in the Philippines.

There's also a mindset to some players that if they will decide to play overseas, "that's not a long-term contract". Plus the fact that these players have to be "consistent" in showing good performance or else the team won't sign them an extension. The pressure is really heavy unlike playing comfortably in the PBA where they used to.

Even if they get alarmed, there's nothing they can do because Japan has a high rate compared to the Philippines, even their minimum wage, there's a huge difference compared to the Philippines. It's just up to the players if they will take the offer or not, I heard before that Terrence Romeo has a huge offer but he choose to stay with SMB.

PBA have to take action in combatting this situation. If they sleep on this, Japan will continue to siphon our talents. And one day, Japan will have all our talents and we will be left with nothing.

The only thing that I see positive in this is that our players is having international experience. They will be better when they come back to play for Gilas in International tournaments.

Well they can make some rules, but the PBA knows that they can't stop this players from jumping into other leagues in Asia because of a good pay.

And this had happen to even NBA as well, the Chinese, or even European leagues recruited NBA players and made good money and have the luxury to still play. Same case with this PBA players, and maybe in the long run if might be good for us, as you have said, international exposure and we might fight a lot of young players from the amateurs to join the PBA. For sure there are a lot of talents from us, they just need proper venue (college basketball) to show their wares.

Matthew Wright is just leaving for his wedding.

He will be back next conference. Smiley
Well, I was wrong there, and thanks to that if that's for real. Is he still going to play for Phoenix or with another team? I guess when there are news and issues like this, we already have that automatic thought that they're leaving for B League. It's always the idea that we're thinking since many of the PBA players are already there.
It's still uncertain as Player and his camp can change the direction of their careers, who knows B-League offers is far better than any team from PBA can provide and the perks aside from the contract is really something that a player can't resist, all will be concluded once news about Wright's career has been announced,.

For now, it's still an open negotiation between his current team and the rest who are also interested in his service.
It's always been a better offer if B League tries to negotiate with some players. There's even a lower league there that offers better compensation than the PBA.
Well, it's either B League or that league that still pays better than the typical contract that PBA players are getting. But despite that, PBA seems not alarmed until now and the talks about the merging of it and some other leagues, let's see how it's going to affect them.

One example is Ray Parks, IIRC, his reason for leaving the TNT is because he wants to take care of his sick mother, but look where he is now, he is already playing with the B League.

He was caught lying because of the picture circulating that he was in the Philippines at that time. He left TNT, not in good faith, so probably he will not be able to come back in the PBA again, he needs to play well so his contract in a team that he is playing with in B League will last longer.

And look at him now, representing our country playing with the head coach of TNT, h's part of our national and I don't know if the issue with him and the TNT is already resolve and I'm also not sure but maybe chot is not the coach when he left but the influence of chot even he's not the one who's taking care of the team is always high.

Maybe just "maybe", the interest of playing inside PBA is still there for Parks Jr, who knows SMB will offer him something that decent enough to make him comeback, remember he's also with the SMB he lead the SMB Alab pilipinas at ABL.

Yes, I think SMB is the right team for him, TNT already has Mikey Williams, so SMB is the team to play for him. His consistency is always present because Ray Parks are both good offensively and defensively. Also, his experience playing in B League could help him improve in the PBA.

I read somewhere that he have an outstanding offer in Phoenix but he still has not signed it and that he is considering a lot of options. Maybe that options include playing in B League. Considering that B League offers are far more lucrative that what he can receive from PBA, I am inclined to think that we won't be seeing him in PBA next season. We cannot blame the players if they choose better opportunities to provide for their families.

But that is still for Wright to decide. We can only wait for his decision.

They always use their family as an excuse for leaving the PBA temporarily, but actually, they have other plans already.
