Matthew Wright is just leaving for his wedding.

He will be back next conference. Smiley
Well, I was wrong there, and thanks to that if that's for real. Is he still going to play for Phoenix or with another team? I guess when there are news and issues like this, we already have that automatic thought that they're leaving for B League. It's always the idea that we're thinking since many of the PBA players are already there.

It's still uncertain as Player and his camp can change the direction of their careers, who knows B-League offers is far better than any team from PBA can provide and the perks aside from the contract is really something that a player can't resist, all will be concluded once news about Wright's career has been announced,.

For now, it's still an open negotiation between his current team and the rest who are also interested in his service.

B-Leauge always has a better player than the PBA, even the highest paid player in the PBA which is JMF still earns lower than what the Filipino players in B League are earning. It's actually very tempting to sign for the B- league if Wright's reason for leaving is money.

Either of the reason why he left Phoenix, he just want to be in a better place. I guess most of those players that really have the potential are starting to realize that they won't be going anywhere with PBA because it's always SMC and MVP teams are the ones taking the spotlight and championships.

As long as there are offers overseas, then a PBA player can consider grabbing it.

However, not all are receiving offers to play outside the country.

Either these players just have to accept that they should just stay in PBA since they have no choice after all.

I guess he'll just follow where Greg went for and this is going to be a domino effect and salary there is better compared to what they've got in PBA.

About the issue with Matthew Wright, there are a lot of speculation going out on social media, some said he will be playing in Japan while I also read an article saying that he is open to playing back in the PBA but with a new team, championship team to be exact so I won't be surprised if he will be donning a TNT or SMB jersey when he is back playing in the PBA.

So what would happen to the salary cap? I believe Matthew Wright considers himself as a superstar so he would demand a high salary.

Salary cap won't be an issue if the big companies in the PBA will work, they always get what they wanted and besides SMB and TNT are now rebuilding their respective team so they might consider trading for Matthew Wright for some bench players like they always do lol.

Not an issue they can sign him with a minimum from the contract and behind or on the top of that they can give him a lot of perks that he can never imagine, remember what Danny I said before when offers from different teams arise, SMB got something that players can never resist and that is something outside from the salary cap.

Though a rival company like Pangilinan group can also offer him something but I can say Wright would be more wise in terms of moving if he really does want to move to another team.

Next game is Ginebra vs Northport.

It's Sunday, I'm sure the Arena now is full with Ginebra supporters, it's a must win by Ginebra to stop the losing streak, so I guess they'll win this game. The current spread is -5.5, do you think they will cover that spread?
No mate, Ginebra will win but Northport will cover the +5.5 spread.  Smiley

I'm biased because I choose the Northport to cover the spread.

According to the standing - https://www.pba.ph/standings.. Ginebra is already in a 2 losing streak, a good team will always bounce back but I beleive Northport will fight and will give them a close fight. Anyway, good luck to the bettors.

Well, good luck, looks like Northport would lose and will not cover the spread. Ginebra already up by 21 points, in case Northport will come back in the 4th quarter, it's unlikely they will cover the spread.

The problem is the salary cap is not followed, so it's not important, as long as the team can pay the salary, they will sign a player that would help their team.

Meralco defeated SMB 89-86.

Great win by Meralco, I thought SMB would just dominate them but they played hard and upset the number 1 team.
SMB now is 9-2 but still number 1 in the standing, with this win, the ranking of Meralco has improved.

No matter what's the outcome of that game, SMB will remain at the top and the twice-to-beat advantage going into the quarters so I stay away from that game mate because of a fan of SMB, and in my mind, I have a feeling that they will lose and lose they did hehe.
Of course, they will have a twice-to-beat advantage and will enjoy that in the elimination.
I'm pretty sure they will win and will easily get to the 2nd round, but I'm not sure if they will still be a champion since we have Ginebra and TNT who are also a good contender.

Does anyone have an idea of where Matthew Wright plays?

I have read on my social media newsfeed where coach Topex announced right after their blowout win against Converge that it was Wright's final game in the PBA.

If indeed this was true then it could be that Wright will be playing in Japan B-League where rumors came out last year.

He won't be playing somewhere else. I stumbled upon that news literally just now on my Facebook newsfeed and the caption was, Matthew Wright will leave the country for the long-postponed plan of his wedding on the 24th in the United States.

Since I was curious, I searched for some links to share here. I think the news was already spread out in PH local sports news.

Wright plays Phoenix farewell game ahead of long-postponed US wedding

Good, I thought that his departure will mean that we might play on the other big leagues around Asia.

Yeah, it might be difficult for coach Topex to re-adjust but for sure he has plans already with Wright's absence. I think the team is still solid and who knows maybe they can found a new gem within the team that will elevate his game even more to cover what they are going to lost in terms of point production in the absence of Wright.

I was thinking of the same, I read the headline that it's his last game so it sink to my mind that maybe he will be going to B League like other PBA players, good thing he will stay. That was a good game for him, he wasn't hesitating and just keep shooting the ball, that was the old Wright we saw, I hope he will stay consistent.

If Matthew Wright won't be playing anymore this conference then that's a big loss to the Phoenix FuelMasters. Wright is now considered the face of the franchise and the main key scorer for their team. His absence will have an impact on the FuelMasters.

According to the article shared above, the wedding is on the 24th plus of course the honeymoon and vacation period, even if Phoenix will reach the Finals, no way for him to return from the action. Coach Topez will need to conceptualize a strategy on how to fill the hole that Wright left.

Looking forward to some of their key players, RJ Jazul, RR Garcia, Encho Serrano, etc. to step up every of their games. Their last elimination game is against Ginebra later today, Sunday. That was a tough team to beat without Phoenix' main man.

DYIP is still winless, lose again by double-digit against ROS.

Final score ROS 97 vs DYIP 82.
They had a good game against SMB last game but in this game they are playing the old ways.

Losing streak is still active.
it's a good win by the Rain or shine with leading score of doubled digit which is 15 points and they claim the victory over Dyip. But on thing I can say is why does Dyip did not break their losing streak zero to ten standing is not good for me maybe next season they can win or have a good performance  I don't think what's going on in this team maybe a luck of defense  and offence as well.

I do not know what is the pre-game spread on this one but good thing I did not bet. It is very unpredictable and way out of what I am expecting the game would have played out.

The pregame odds were as follows.

Converge -2.5
Phoenix +2.5

It was the underdog who won the game, and not just a simple win but a very dominant win.
Wright lead the team to a big win, and I like what Phoenix did because they played very hard until the end of the game.

Good start from Phoenix and they manage to continue until the last quarter I didn't expect that Converge will be playing like that letting Phoenix to make that huge margin in the first half though they attempted to come back but 4th quarter run again was dominated by Phoenix and there's nothing Converge can do but to wait for the final buzzer to end the game.

Congrats to all who win from this game, nothing to ask from Wright and Perkins. They both lead the offense and take the win for the Phoenix.
