The alert level 3 implemented will possibly continue as we recorded new 39k cases which is currently the all time high as per DOH recorded so I think there will be more restriction will be implemented by IATF if the spread  will continuously high for the days running. So I think the option they only have is to run that bubble style game so that they can continue the league which I think they are planning right now.

Probably next month they will come up with an alternative plan, so far the spread still reaching more people though it isn't as deadlier like what those

Previous variants, but still the virus, can harm everyone. If they will decide to proceed, the only option for now is to have another bubble setup just

to continue and complete this season, unless the spread will be contained, and the government declares the level to a much lighter one..

Till then, we just have to wait for the final announcement.
They have no other choice right now but to enter to a "bubble" set-up.
Its either they will enter the bubble set-up or they will postpone the season.

Right now, there is already a community transmission of Omicron Variant and with how fast this virus spreads I'm pretty sure cases of around 30,000 or more will continue in the next few weeks and we might see new all time high in cases within the next few days to weeks. Right now, they are observing on what is happening and from that they will decide. Best choice is to go bubble set-up or they can wait until the number of cases goes down and if that happens then they might just continue what they've started.

If they do it before to hold the PBA semi-bubble in Ynares, they can do it again.

The problem is it takes too long for the regulatory boards to allow PBA to restart. They are left hanging and as anybody says here, we can only get a good update next month. It's clear to the terms of IATF that they are allowing "professional sports activities" under Alert Level 3 regardless of the number of cases as long as it will be on a bubble setup.

PBA is always ready for a bubble setup but why they are always ended up waiting for the updates from IATF if everything is already prepared.

Have read a social media feed that GAB, through Ramon Mitra has offered the PBA of a "home-court-home" bubble set-up which for me is a favorable sign after this chaotic event.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial has not yet responded to that offer since he will consult/talk to the players first before responding to GAB.

For me, this is an acceptable offer since some health experts have predicted that covid cases will gradually drop starting March and by that time PBA can accommodate live audience in the arena.

Its also stated in that article that Pasig City Mayor allowed PBA to play in Ynares Center as long as it is in a bubble set up but it seems like Commissioner Marcial is seeing the Bubble as the least option for them.

That's the best location they will have. Not too much expensive compare setting up a bubble in the province where they also need to wait for the LGU there to confirmed if they are allowed to play there.

Better than nothing. I hope IATF will reconsider the plan of getting PBA to resume even with the current high cases established everyday.

As with everyone's sayings, we should not expect an update if we keep seeing high cases every day. IATF won't change its decision until these numbers will be lowered for the next days or weeks. What matters here is, there are lots of mild cases and asymptomatic. This Delta variant is too light to make people at their worst unless with already in the worst medical condition prior to contracting the virus.

I'm still hoping we can see the current conference to finish rather than reset it on the new conference which is the All-Filipino Conference.

And their facebook page as well.  https://web.facebook.com/search/top?q=pba

It's good to follow news on Spin.ph or some public groups on Facebook like "We are PBA Updates" or those accounts of the team itself like in Brgy. Ginebra where they giving updates generally aside from what happening on their team in general.

PBA.PH news section is sometimes late in the action.

yeah, there's no news regarding the import, maybe they have already gone back to their country because the chance of the PBA season to resume is very dim. Sorry to say, but since the cases are growing fast, I'm not expecting a resumption soon.

I think they are not allowed to do that since they are under contract. They need to wait first if Governors Cup will be resumed and until then, they have to stay here and kill their boredom the way they want.

Since everyday we are hitting the daily high, I think we just have to wait next month before seeing a good progress.

Let's be patient and wait for the announcement, we can speculate, that's alright but let's remain optimistic that the PBA will be able to resume, otherwise, there will be no fun anymore and we cannot continue betting. I know there's still the NBA but it's also good to bet on our local games and support them.

Patiently waiting for their updates on how they can resume the conference, the only option that they have is to play in bubble, looks like the alert level 3 will stay until next month since the case is still high. I also place some bets before in PBA, its also profitable and of course can easily predict since we know the players.

I wonder what the imports are doing now lol. This long break is not their usual. I mean, they like to play and play no matter what. It's like their time is being wasted here in the country as nowhere to do but to chill and relax. They are surely bored now since PBA has no update yet when to return. The expectation for NLEX to reach the Finals of this conference is getting longer.

Yes right, but if the Staff of PBA decided that all the imports will be back to their respective country  I think that's a good decision in order to prevent them from illness/prevent them from missing their family too. Cause if they are still here there's a chance that they will get infected from this omicron cause we all know that it is very speedy in terms of spreading.
They will be infected but that doesn't mean they'll suffer from it, they have a high immune system so probably they can resist the effect of the virus. It's all up to the management now and the team owners if they will stop the season and send the imports to their homes. here's the logic, if they'll send the imports back, then consider the season cancelled already.

Well, it's been a business. I hope that there would be a replacement for the commissioners as they're the ones that are limiting the potential of each team.

I agree with this. The Commissioners is the one that can make everything balanced.

Remember the golden days of PBA during Jun Bernardino's stint? Even San Miguel Corporation are owning the league, we won't see any farm teams giving players to the strong one. Everything is balanced and almost all teams have a popular main cager, unlike today where if you asked some people outside, they don't even know the main scorer of Blackwater or any lower-tier teams.
Yeah, the good old days were fairer and better. Right now, I don't know what's this kume is doing. He knows that he's being bashed for the unlikely of his management.
They should really do something with that and stop having farm teams and make the balance for the most of them. Or else, they're going to be overtaken by another league or many of their players that don't have any contract with them anymore jumping into another aspiring league or abroad leagues.

They've been paid so whatever they are doing right now there's still a sure cash for them, sad to say but the team needs to extend their budget to pay for this import's needs, if they choose to stay the chance that PBA teams are the one who needs to pay for their expenses, it's not their fault if the game got extended, not sure though if what are the consideration that the team needs to provide for their imports..

These imports are being paid so they have nothing else to do but wait or maybe just condition themselves thru exercise in their respective rooms. At least in that way they will not just sit and wait.

Well, I did a quick search on google regarding the updates of the PBA and I saw this. LINK
Quote
League Commissioner Willie Marcial said they will wait “two to three weeks” and assess the COVID-19 situation to determine the feasibility of resuming the halted import conference.
Its also stated in that article that Pasig City Mayor allowed PBA to play in Ynares Center as long as it is in a bubble set up but it seems like Commissioner Marcial is seeing the Bubble as the least option for them.

TBH, they are in a spot like in 2020 where they need to make a move where there are pros and cons. If they continue their current set-up, it might affect more people and other players. If they will pursue the bubble set-up, the spread rate might be lower to none but the revenue of the league is obviously lower. Its like a "Pick your poison" game for them. I think lets just wait for what they will do and lets hope that the cases will go lower within the next days to weeks.

Does anyone with the latest news about the resume of the league? Manila will be on Alert Level 3 for the whole month and that was way too long to wait. I guess PBA should now consider a semi-bubble setup on the areas under Alert Level 2.

The time is running and postponing the current conference for a much longer period will affect the opening of the new season this year.

There's an advantage too but it's only in the tough times, I guess even if SMC did not own the majority of the teams the league will still survive if the team owners are capable of raising funds to continue its operation.

I doubt that. There are teams already in the league that shows unable to handle the cost of their operation even before the pandemic. SMC is the only one who remains tough since the beginning that's why I doubt that the league will reach the current status of popularity if SMC only owned 1 or 2 teams.

But regardless, and again, I'm not really concerned about the dominance of a single or two companies in the league. It's just that, these big companies can influence the trade and according to them, the trade is mostly "fair".
