Andre Paras is a decent player but not a superstar that some are expecting,  his popularity is only brought by being an artist but not because of his skills in Basketball.

I think no one considered him as a superstar and the reason is obvious as he takes showbiz as a priority. They are not expecting him to be like a superstar within just a short timeframe.

He is good at basketball. He doesn't just have time to focus on it but prior to showbiz, basketball is already his passion. Give him time and someday, he will get back again in his shape since no distractions by now. He is the best asset for BW compare to those players that still underperforming today even they are playing for years now in the PBA.

Giving him time and enough exposures with his team now, he have a better chance to improve his skills. It's about how he dedicate and how serious he will, those lapses from showbiz distractions is no longer heavy as the time that he have now for his basketball journey is far better than those earlier years that he didn't focus.

He got the height and he's still young, if there's a will there's a good outcome for his future, The name also serves as advantage.. Roll Eyes Grin

Enough for Kai Sotto.

What do you think about Andre Paras, can he help the Blackwater to improve?

https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/paras-assures-blackwater-management-of-full-attention-in-pba-career-a793-20210321?ref=feed_1_section

I know he can be committed with the team, but do they have a good roster to compete well against the best teams in the PBA?

Is there anything that he can do with that team? Don't get me wrong but the management needs to work it out.

Even how good the player/rookie to play with them if there's no support from the management bringing quality players to the franchise
then there's nothing for them.

It's a complete shuffle of players and coaches to make this team competitive. Giving Andre a benefits of the doubt, hope he
give some spark for this squad.

Blackwater are actually good, good for trading their best players, so I guess Paras will just need to work and play harder so he will get a chance to play with a bigger teams, he said he is committed with the team but the team might only give him a reward like trading him.

And don't forget that he's a son of one of the PBA living legends, Benjie Paras. In his interview, while he's in showbiz if ever he gets into the draft and with any team, he's going to focus on playing basketball then. Good luck to him and what happened to his brother Kobe? I thought that he's also going with the draft, haven't seen any news about him.

He really is pressured, poor guy, has a talent but I think it's his manager that did wrong decision for him after the G league and Gilas pull back. I'm confused with the news about him in Gilas again.

Pressured it is and who will not be pressured when you are being tagged as the nest Pau Gasol or Nicola Jokic.

This kind of thing ^^ can be ironed out if you have a good representative to the media. A PR guy that will compare Kai Sotto to a less popular player as to ease the pressure on his shoulder.

This kid is badly mismanaged, don't know the reason why his handlers are hastily moving him into the NBA without analyzing carefully what he lacks to bang bodies with the big boys in the NBA.
I've not heard him being tagged with those known superstars. His handler should really be blamed for being mishandling him and taking wrong decisions that had affected his possible good run to NBA.
But it's not too late, he can go to Euro League if ever they'll think of it or for sure they've thought of it already.

I feel bad for this person because that kind of pressure meant that he always to exert extra effort into what he is doing. Pressuring someone to do better isn't really that good especially for a kid like him that could take a toll to him in the later years of his life. Letting him play in the biggest league is going to be difficult but I think that he can do it because he is doing his training in America if I am right.

I guess it's normal  that he is pressured as he is the only Filipino player now who are aspiring to play in the NBA. He doesn't need too actually if that pressure would lead to not being able to focus in the game, he has a chance but that chance is always slim especially for Asians.

Looks like we have a bad news.

opening at Ynares Arena in doubt after Rizal put under GCQ

Quote
THE PBA remains on a wait-and-see mode on the opening of its 46th season next month amid the sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Commissioner Willie Marcial admitted everything remains hanging in the balance for the league until the government-mandated General Community Quarantine (GCQ) within the National Capital Region and neighboring provinces Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal expires by April 4.

The league is looking to kick off the Philippine Cup on April 18 after moving it from April 11. Originally, it was eyeing to open the season on April 9 in time for its 46th anniversary celebration.

“Tingnan natin. Abangan natin after April 4 kung ano na ang desisyon ng gobyerno. From there, doon tayo magsisimula kung paano,” said Marcial on Sunday.

Let's hope for some good news after April 4, and let's see if they can start as per schedule.
Also, I'm hoping it will not again a bubble set up, vaccine is already available so it should not scare the league to pursue the opening of the season.
With the recent spike of the cases especially in NCR and the other places near to it, the start of the PBA this season becomes doubtful.

Looks like the set date of April 18 will not be the date where the PBA will start because of these recent spike of cases. Even though we already have those vaccines, there is still a chance that they can be a carrier of the virus and knowing that the vaccine isn't working against other variants of the virus looks like we have a problem here. Either way, lets just hope for the best to the league. I'm afraid that we might see NCR and other neighboring places into MECQ if this 2 week GCQ will not make the case count decrease by a bit. That would be worse

Him getting into G league was a big news in the past. His salary is huge according to the news.

Kai Sotto G League deal worth at least P10M for five months, says report

or 2 million pesos per month, that's bigger than JMF's salary which is only 500k per month, or even more higher than the rookie which has a max contract in the PBA.
It was great news and news that's full of hope but not anymore this time.
And as for JC Intal's retirement, he's not that productive anymore but mad respect for the guy. He's been part of the league for a long time and probably there's a coaching staff offer to him.
His slot open doors for another aspiring younger player.

JC Intal does not really make a big impact to the team anymore, his shooting percentage has gone down so as with his minutes. Maybe some veterans already understand what they can still contribute to the team and just decide to retire or maybe coming from an advice from the team management.

There are some veterans who stays because they still have big impact to the team.

to name a few, they are Alex Cabagnot, Arwind Santos, Raffy Reavis, and Reynel Hugnatan.

He's been out with the G League with what I've read it's sort of being kicked because of the Gilas when he went back here. That's like a non verbatim information for me. But if someone has more accurate information, correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't think that he'll be back to G league, he can look for other opportunities in other leagues like in Euro or Australia and the usual, if most of those fails, he'll just go to PBA.

That's very unfortunate of him, he should have not traveled to the Philippines if that would happen to him. He should priorities his NBA dream as our KABAYAN's will be proud of him if he will make it to the NBA. Now, it looks like he has a little problem, hopefully he can still come back but his stats in the G League AFAIK is not really that impressive.
That's what I've thought of too before. But that already happened and we cannot change what has happened in the past. I think the problem is on his handler because it's part of the decision making and this guy is still a kid.
He will do whatever's going to be suggested to him but too sad that he's already out in the G League. He's not even given a good play time on his days there.

Not only the salary but the experience as well and exposure. Yes 2 million per month is huge for this short contract and they have not wasted that chance. I'm not really sure what happen but for Sotto not being able to play the G League again, I guess that's a big disappointment and no excuse could ease the disappointment of the fans.

Meanwhile, another veteran has retired.

JC Intal is hanging his sneakers for good, he announced late Sunday night.

The 37-year-old high-flyer announced his decision to retire from basketball n a lengthy Instagram post, putting to a close a 13-year PBA career.

"After two decades of playing the sport I love, 13 years of which in the PBA, I am officially announcing my retirement from basketball," the Phoenix Super LPG forward wrote.

"Words cannot express how grateful I am to every single person who helped me make this journey possible - from playing for two years in Letran for high school, to five years in Ateneo for college, and 13 years in the pro league."

Also, I'm hoping it will not again a bubble set up, vaccine is already available so it should not scare the league to pursue the opening of the season.

Just declared another GCQ and based from that statements it's still unclear even the vaccines was here but the numbers of cases are still rising.

It's tough to decide and the first option in case that this concern with lockdown continue, bubble set up might be again implemented. Just to continue and not being interrupted in anyhow.

There's still time and we don't know what will hapeen in the next couple of weeks.

There are lots of big man now inside G-League who also have the same talent, it's best to focus now with every open opportunities NBA G-League
is not the only access to NBA. European league or Asian league if he really got the talent he'll be able to reach his dream. Maybe it's not for him right now and beside he's still young and there's always room in improving his skills.

He small body probably is the problem, he needs to strengthen his body and earn a body like Kristaps Porziņģis so he will be able to survive, he got moves but without a strength that could be a big weakness of him.

Best to work more in terms of sorting all those possibilities, he always have the PBA if he got out of options.

Of course but he aim for bigger success for bigger salary, salary in the PBA is too small compared to playing abroad.
