I just have a question, as a friend is curious about this. It has been more than a year since the pandemic started and since then he has been online ever since. He did not find any use of his tv since his tv box from a big tv network lost the channels. Now after more than a year of not using the TV and only relying on the internet for streaming and video services, he is wondering if the PBA has an online presence too. Can he be able to watch latest games online and not through tv? Thanks in advance for answering.

Yeah they have an online streaming particularly in facebook, there was a youtube before from TV but they stopped it.

Follow this facebook page, https://web.facebook.com/OneSportsPHL

They are the official partner of the PBA.

Will these rookies be able to help the team?

Blackwater offers two-year deals to Paras, Torralba; one year for Acuno

Honestly, I don't know the other two, I'm not a fan of NCAA or whatever college basketball, but Paras has been popular on TV so it's easy to recognize him.
They got a contract in Blackwater team, and I think Blackwater is really in tight budge as they can't sign a legit superstar, but just rookies.
Them being a championship contender?? Not at all.
They have traded some of their big players and now they can't afford some superstars. They are gambling with these rookies and since they didn't got a spot at the first round draft this year, they will try their luck again next year hoping that they can get some better players at that time.

Acuno is their first pick but in the second round. Not a fan of lower basketball leagues here like in NCAA or UAAP but lets just wait for him and Torralba to see how their performance will be. With Paraz on the other hand, a hardworking player in the paint and a player with a huge fan-based. Double purpose Cheesy.

If I remember correctly, there is a page in Facebook where they are broadcasting PBA games live. I think its the page of TV5 if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I'm wrong though but I know that there is one page in Facebook that are broadcasting PBA games online. Maybe somebody will help you here Smiley.

Seems that Blackwater is not intending to win a title but just to continue their participation inside this league. Signing those rookies is not a guarantee that they'll be able to help the team.

It's not adding anything as per my personal opinion, sorry but just like you I'm not familiar with those two,, aside from Andre who already been popular because of being a celebrty and a son of the Tower of Power of the PBA.

Like they always do, they are just a training ground or a farm team as what some of our posters here have said, and I'm already convince with that though. Blackwater could actually compete at the start of the season, but the lack of experience will make them eliminated easily.

Nothing say but to wait till we see any possible addition that this rookies will contribute to not just to the  team but also to the league as
well

I don't expect a lot from these rookies though, or from the team itself.

I'll wait what will be the PBA management's reaction for such cases if they've noticed that a lot of players are migrating to those offers.

There are currently no such cases of "lots of PBA players" receiving offers from other leagues.
Yeah and I'll just wait if that's going to happen or not.

I'm also familiar only with Paras but let's just give it to them and wait until the season starts and see if they'll prolong their stay on this upcoming season.

There's always a big sacrifice for players playing overseas, first they will missed their family and usually the contract is only short term. So if they want to enjoy a good salary, I guess they should take care of their body too so if the contract expires and they will not be renewed anymore at least there's still another home which is the PBA that could potentially sign them.

PBA may change their rules to not accept players playing overseas, and that could be a threat to the players as PBA take care of their players long term as long as they contribute, good example, is Mark the Spark, Reavis and etc.. In overseas, I think 35 years old is too old for an import, so the life will be shorter compared to the PBA.

I don't know the rules on overseas teams but for sure they are only getting talented players and they don't only choose the Philippines, there's a lot of competition from other countries and maybe some players feel they are really good because they are selected.

On changing of the rules, I think that is unfair, maybe the best thing they do is increase the salary as that's only the main reason why some players choose to play overseas.

And for sure the players wouldn't mind to play overseas since its a big break for them to make their name known also the salary is so appealing and they will take home a lot of money after their contract expires.

These players should have good credentials so it's not that easy to say.

Thirdy Ravena's highlight was being the grandslam champion with Ateneo (one of these is the 14-0 clean record in UAAP) and all these championships, he was the Finals MVP. That was his ticket to be qualified on one of the future picks of San-en NeoPhoenix aside from he is young.

It means, that break is far to achieved by other players who want to follow him.

I'll wait what will be the PBA management's reaction for such cases if they've noticed that a lot of players are migrating to those offers.

Fiba agent sees more overseas opportunities for Filipino players

Seems true, and Ravena is already a big example that a player with great potential can make better income when playing abroad. This isn't good for the PBA organization though but if they improve their salary structure, I guess great players would not leave the PBA.

One example also is Ray Parks, he was vocal that he want a 1 million pesos per month salary, he would not say that if he is not getting offers to play overseas I believe.
Soon we will see more players that are going to be in leagues overseas. Because the salary is higher and the opportunity are way better from what they're getting from the PBA.
But the only con is you're out of the country although if it's for the passion and love for the game, they're both at win whether they're going to stay in PBA or abroad.

This is not surprising to see as Filipino basketball is been known to have a good program so importation of superstars or even young talents is quit expected. Those steps made by ravena will possibly followed by other players so expect that aside from them there are other will grab the offers from overseas if the offer comes.

And for sure the players wouldn't mind to play overseas since its a big break for them to make their name known also the salary is so appealing and they will take home a lot of money after their contract expires.
Yes, they won't mind playing for it because it's also their livelihood which they're relying on for their family. And who knows if anyone of them will be scouted for a bigger league which we all want to see our pride goes into a bigger stage/court into a next level.
I'll wait what will be the PBA management's reaction for such cases if they've noticed that a lot of players are migrating to those offers.

And now he is banned from playing in the PBA. If all he wanted is to play overseas he could have asked MVP politely

I don't get and understand the sudden change of his behavior just because of that reason, in case that's really the reason. You are right, talking with the management is a good way and I don't think TNT will stop him even he is under contract with them if he really wants to play outside the country for whatever reason (the contract expired in 2020).

He doesn't establish a big name yet in the PBA and no achievement to brag but just because he performed good last season with TNT, he feels he can do anything he wants. I'm with the action of Ray Parks having a sanction.

It's only Ray Parks, how come that alone will affect the whole PBA organization? If he wants to leave, then leave. I don't even consider him as a great player.

Not all PBA superstars, even how good and monster they are in the league, are not being offered a foreign contract and that wasn't simple just because they want to play overseas. There's an agent scouting players and not those players will offered themselves to play. And besides, it's not just the Philippines but other countries are being scouted too.

We can't just generalized that most PBA superstars will leave PBA because of that huge salary playing abroad. Again, not all are qualified even for a superstar. And with the case of Ray Parks, if he's really want to play overseas, it's unprofessional to behave like that. I hope no teams will sign him (in case TNT will release him) to serve him a lesson.

Like i said before, opportunities for Filipinos to play abroad is so rare and even the superstars in the PBA at the moment might not fit with what the foreign team wanted. The case of the Ravena's as imports in Japan might not last long as the competition as an import is so tight that i'm expecting them back to the PBA in two years time.

Andre Paras is a decent player but not a superstar that some are expecting,  his popularity is only brought by being an artist but not because of his skills in Basketball.

I think no one considered him as a superstar and the reason is obvious as he takes showbiz as a priority. They are not expecting him to be like a superstar within just a short timeframe.

He is good at basketball. He doesn't just have time to focus on it but prior to showbiz, basketball is already his passion. Give him time and someday, he will get back again in his shape since no distractions by now. He is the best asset for BW compare to those players that still underperforming today even they are playing for years now in the PBA.
He played into different leagues already like in D-League and in MPBL.

Basketball is his passion already like you said and that is why he chose to join the draft this year and got picked by BW. Good for him so that he can showcase his skills and further improve them with the help of the team. At the same time, he can be a good asset by the BW because of his fan-based. There is a "possibility" that the products of BW will be more popular now.

Him as a superstar is still a big question mark because we don't know how he will play in the league where the physicality is so much and knowing that he is playing as a PF/Center and his height is obviously lower compare to those players at the same position as him, there is a chance that he will be given limited minutes but lets see how he will play. I'm not expecting too much on him though but like they are saying, "He isn't Benjie, and He isn't Andre. He is Kobe" Cheesy.

Giving him time and enough exposures with his team now, he have a better chance to improve his skills. It's about how he dedicate and how serious he will, those lapses from showbiz distractions is no longer heavy as the time that he have now for his basketball journey is far better than those earlier years that he didn't focus.

He got the height and he's still young, if there's a will there's a good outcome for his future, The name also serves as advantage.. Roll Eyes Grin
I think the issue is he spends lots of time acting for years and those precious years would have been made him a better player, playing basketball needs practice years of training nonstop, once you have done it for a long time, it will be easy, Kobe Paras has more chance being a superstar status because he is focus on playing and not acting, Andre will be having a hard time making it back to shape for sure.
