Just a quick update, in this game, the Best player of the conference and the best import were announced.

Here are the winners.

Best import - Jonathan Williams.
Best Player of the conference - CJ Perez

I thought the competition will be between the import of Magnolia and SMB but to my surprise, it was the import of Phoenix Fuel Masters who won the race. Well, I can say that he is a good import because he brought Phoenix to the semi Finals, a success that they were not able to achieve before. And as to the best player, this is a fair judgement, and I hope CJ will prove it tonight on why he was choosen.

Moving on to game 4 of the Finals. Have you guys already check out the betting odds, if not yet, let me drop it here.

SMB -3.5 vs Magnolia, the total is still 190.5, last time it went under, and I guess it wen't over on the first 2 games where SMB won. If that's the trend, it's easy to predict the total, SMB wins game 4, the total will be over, I guess the over 190.5 is more attractive, because if SMB will dictate and it will still result to a competitive game, the game might end up in OT ( at least a chance), and that would add possibility hitting the over, if not yet hit during the regular time.

This is scary for Magnolia, they woke up the beast of the SMB when they defended well in game 3. I'm sure tonight there will be a big adjustment as they will not allow to lose again. No wonder there's a huge line movement that made SMB the heavy favorite with -5.5 now. Even at this high spread, I would not hesitate betting on them as SMB could have beat them in double digit on the first 2 games if they didn't allow a comeback in the first game. I'm excited on this game, and I want to see the face of Calvin to regretting on his action towards the coach of SMB.
Line now dropped to -4.5, it's still high I believe. There might be some action too coming from Magnolia if we will interpret the line movement. However, I woudn't bother myself on that now, I would just take it simple, bet on the better team and that is SMB, whatever the spread is.

Calvin said they are friends now, haha. https://www.abante.com.ph/2024/02/08/peace-na-ulit-calvin-abueva-nag-sorry-niyakap-hinalikan-si-coach-jorge-gallent/.... but let SMB still avenge their coach.

That's great to know. it's being mature and be sensitive with the feelings of others. Calvin already fined Php100k, he asked sorry now no more issue between these two. It's just a pure game, whatever emotion within the game, it should stay in the game or the court.

It was under because the shooting percentage of SMB dropped significantly. I think it will not happen again, they'll make an adjustment to ensure they'll take a commanding lead of 3-1 in the series. It will be tomorrow at 7:30 PM. Bey remained consistent with his poor production on the offense, he finished with only 11 points, but the local of the Magnolia had found their rthym, to name, they are Barroca, Sanggalang, Paul Lee, Jalalon, and Dionesio.

I will tail with your prediction, if SMB will dictate the tempo of the game, it should be a high scoring game. Other alternative is betting on SMB team total points.

Alright, here we go for every finals that we see. Fans will say that this is scripted and it's part of the plan to prolong the championships to max out the games up to game 7.

Reason for suspension; read the article.
Automatic one-game suspension keeps SMB's Jericho Cruz out of Game 3
Quote
JERICHO Cruz was conspicuously missing from Game Three of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday on the court and even on the bench.

Why, you might ask?

Well, the San Miguel guard sat out the contest because of a one-game suspension that was automatically handed to him by the league.

READ Marcial warns Abueva of another indefinite ban
Under league rules, a player is sanctioned with an automatic one-game suspension once he accumulated a total of five technical fouls during a conference.

Cruz was called for the technical foul in Game Two after taunting Calvin Abueva at the 1:49-mark of the third quarter of Game Two which the Beermen won, 109-85, to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven title series.
I didn't know about this rule. So if a player have maxed out 5 technical fouls for the entire season or conference then he's eligible for that. What a rule but I guess this will teach most of the players to be careful for every fouls that they do because it becomes crucial at the finals if ever they become one of the teams there. It was just fun to see Jericho did returned the favor to Calvin on game 2 but his presence was important on game 3 and that's one reason they lose.

There was a similar rule in the NBA too, but it's 16 technical fouls before a player gets suspended for one game without pay. It make sense that it's more than the PBA since the NBA has more games to be played compared to the PBA. I think Cruz didn't count his technical fouls, if they were behind, that could be a big blow on them.

In today's NBA, a player who receives 16 technical fouls in a season is suspended for one game without pay. For every two additional technical fouls, he receives a subsequent one-game suspension.

I know it exist in the NBA but didn't know PBA have adopted this rule too.

Yeah, I know that rule do exist in the NBA and it's Draymond that is mostly the recipient for this game suspension as almost in every game he has a tecnical foul/s. What I'm surprised of is that Jericho got suspended first before Calvin, I thought Calvin have more technical fouls since he is known for his antics in the game. However, it's good for Magnolia that it happened as they were able to win game 3, otherwise, the series would not be interesting to watch anymore.

Seems that magnolia will take this game as the lead still in double digit with only 1 min left, a good game and adjustments as they manage to limit the productions of all the starters of SMB including the 2 imports hahaha JMF and BB what a nice take out for those who support the ML and handicap for Magnolia.

Let see if they will continue to take this good adjustment and will try to tie the series to bring it back to a best of 3 games.

Congrats to whoever place their picks to Magnolia, while for SMB supporters there's another game to assess.

SMB does not have Jericho Cruz on the game, probably due to injury, but they have a lot of players to replace him. This could be the lowest output of SMB so far, they are limited with 80 points and their 3 point shots aren't clicking.

I can't believe the kind of struggle SMB had tonight, their total FG $ is only 34% while their 3 point shooting dropped to 19%.

Also, Boatwright performance is very bad, he was struggling and yet SMB aren't moving the ball well. Their import made only 10 of 28 attempts and he was only 4-13 beyond the arch. I'm expecting a huge adjustment in game 4 which will happen in Friday, and I'm going to take SMB early.

I'm also expecting that as a vocal fan of SMB I guess it's not them who played last night or it's been dictated by the management hahaha, but kidding aside for sure there are also gambler who lose their money from this unexpected outcome, I know Magnolia is capable to win but that kind of poor performances from SMB is not usual especially during the finals.

Let see if how they will adjust this coming game 5, they need to select better shots compared to how they take it from this game, Boatwright leadership is needed too, he need to comeback as more aggressive than this.

Very detailed information on what transpired on the game. Boatwright is suppose to be a good shooter for SMB, his FG % is high but he struggles this game. Also, SMB losing Cruz might be big because he does play hard on defense and also create some offense for them. Byt the way, Cruz was fine, he was just suspended in game 3 but he'll be back next game.

We can't betray ourselves here. Let's forget that conspiracy theory for a while, we know who the better team is, let's stick to them.
In fact, I didn't only took the -3.5 but the 11+ win also with x3.72 odds.

Of course, that would not be fun if you are betting on the other side but your heart is on SMB. I just checked the line up and I can see that it has moved up to -4 now. I think it's still a go and I see some value because of the SMB's dominant performance on the last game.

I hope SMB squad will play harder to avenge what Abueva did to their coach and send a message that it's not good to mock a person with disability. I'm seeing that 3 point shooters are raining again this game, that on the side of SMB of course since Magnolia has no answer and aren't confident to shoot outside anymore.

If you have good spare, and you are really a fan of SMB, taking that attracting handicap for them is surely not difficult for you to place your bet, conspiracy is always present in each game that we witness but like what you just said, the drama can be used as another spark plug for SMB squad to make tougher for Magnolia.

We might see a more determined SMB squad after that mocking their head coach, though as a pro, we didn't see any bad reaction from him, and he just let it go and not being bothered by how Abueva disrespected him.

Well, so far it's a different story as Magnolia were able to lead in the game. They are leading by 5 points int he first quarter, a good start for them as they need to start strong since they had a hard time catching up with SMB when they are down. Although this is still too early but we know Magnolia is also capable, however, I still think that SMB will be taking a 3-0 after tonight.

First quarter is not enough for Magnolia to win, they need to be consistent from first to the last quarter.

Those 2nd chance points and offensive rebounds are very important, they need to play some hustle.

Yes, it seems like Magnolia is enjoying a good lead now, they might found their rhythm and I say it will be dangerous for SMB if they'll give Magnolia some life. This is the finals, Magnolia are gonna do everything to win the series, even down 0-2, that doesn't mean that the series is over, a win here will change the complexion of the series as Magnolia will certain would increase their confidence. 29-39 is the score in the 2nd quarter, Magnolia up by 10 points.

The verdict has came out.

No suspension for him but he was fined with a significant amount of 100k pesos.

Abueva fined P100,000 for mocking Gallent, spared suspension

I read some comments on facebook regarding this matter, it seems like people aren't happy with the amount of penalty, they want Calvin to get suspended, and some even worst as they want a permanent ban.

It's good that its only a fine but man, that 100k is a stiff fine as we are not used of seeing PBA fined with that amount.

The spread is still low as of the moment, -3.5 for SMB @1.85 so if you are a fan of the Beermen like, that's attractive enough to push the bet button.
It was lower when it first release, it was like -1.5 at that time. But this -3.5 is of course still a good spread since SMB has been dominating the Magnolia in the last 2 games. If you believe they'll do the same in the last 2 games, well, you should be confident with that pick.

Regarding the fine, now this is already settles and we know it's abueva who had the problem as he was on the only one that was fined.

Some said the Magnolia will win game 3 but the way they played games 1 and 2, i think there is a chance that they will be sweep.

The Hotshots are smaller and their percentage on the rainbow is low which i think their only chance of winning the game, make those 3s as they can't attack the middle very often.

We can't betray ourselves here. Let's forget that conspiracy theory for a while, we know who the better team is, let's stick to them.

It's good that its only a fine but man, that 100k is a stiff fine as we are not used of seeing PBA fined with that amount.

The spread is still low as of the moment, -3.5 for SMB @1.85 so if you are a fan of the Beermen like, that's attractive enough to push the bet button.

Some said the Magnolia will win game 3 but the way they played games 1 and 2, i think there is a chance that they will be sweep.

The Hotshots are smaller and their percentage on the rainbow is low which i think their only chance of winning the game, make those 3s as they can't attack the middle very often.

The verdict has came out.

No suspension for him but he was fined with a significant amount of 100k pesos.

That's just fair I think. Well, we have different opinion but what the league has decided is already final, we have to respect it. Maybe they give Magnolia a chance too because losing Calvin is not gonna help Magnolia, he was one of the players that are bringing some energy on the floor, his hassle is very useful especially if it's a close game (which they haven't achieve yet).

This penalty is necessary but I'm not sure if Calvin will learn his lessons from this. Php 100k is big but for them making more than 100k per month ( I believe) is just not a big loss.
