Is JMF playing? I just tune in and I didn't see him on the floor, so far, SMB had a good start, and if they will continue this, we might see the same scenario that happened in game 1 and 2. They need to win to be ahead on the series, because if they lose, I feel their confidence will drop as 3 losing streak would destroy a team's confidence. Maybe even if JMF is limited or will not play, I think SMB still are capable of winning since they have a good back up players like Jericho Cruz and Don Trollana who are both great defenders and rebounder as well.
Looks like SMB has been dictating the pace so far. Their is still not scoring much but the ball movement of SMB now is better. Not only Trollana and Cruz who are helping the team but they also have Simon Enciso who only earn a decent minutes tonight and he is hot from beyond the arc. I can see that the SMB are very confident now, they are eager to take the lead in the series.

Good thing that Cruz step up and help the entire team to less than a minute now and the lead is 6 seems that SMB will going to take
this game though still enough time for Magnolia to try pushing the last run.
Hmmm.. timeout now, I saw JMF on the bench, probably had played but with limited minutes only.
He is playing and has been contributing, and it doesn't look like he had an injury as he is still playing with the same intensity like in the previous games.
JMF added 18 points and his presence really help SMB to get this game pace to thier advantage. Like you said, seems like he doesn't have that injury "Pagpag lang okay na" in our own language..

Not having JMF doesn't mean they will lose. If we have seen the last game, JMF set but SMB had a rally to make it a close game. When JMF came back, that's when the Magnolia start their own run.

Of course, it does not guarantee that the Magnolia will win but JMF is one of the best player in the PBA, probably not the best now since the system of SMB has change but he can do a lot of things when in the court. It's either he played 100% healthy or just remove him on the line up because he'll only become a problem as he'll be left when Magnolia are running. Let's wait and see what he could bring tomorrow, if they could put some pain reliever to make Fajardo feel the same before the injury, that would be good as they need him so much tomorrow.

You can't be sure with PBA, so there's no guarantee that what we are expecting will happen. If on the first two games we thought that Magnolia is a mismatch, then we might be wrong again with our expectation now since Magnolia turn out to be a real rival since they even the series.

Just be smart in choosing what team to beat as it seems like they are playing us. Game 3 could be SMB that's why they start the line high, and I don't mind if the line will continue to move up as I have a feeling that SMB will again win and will cover the spread. Maybe they will give Boatwright a chance to have a good game and it can easily happen by putting Tyler Bey in foul trouble.

It a must to bring that good touch for Boatwright I agree that the adjustment might be in him, letting him to find his rhytm while his teammates will find ways to help him, we can't really assure that after that good run magnolia will continue as it will be a big challenge now for SMB to make a good stop and counter whatever offensive tactics Magnolia have in mind.

If you are A SMB fan taking the handicap is still considerable knowing that if they will play good ball they will make things happen, just use spare and enjoy watching the game.

And the series are now tied. SMB were able to rally in the 3rd quarter but they fall short in the 4th. Huge blow for the SMB as they loss JMF on that game, his ankle might be injured again and his status in game 5 is still uncertain. I hope he will be able to recover in time and the injury is not series as game 5 is a very important game for them, a must win situation to put pressure on the Magnolia Hotshots. It's the 2nd game that Boatwright Jr. has struggled again, this time he score 16 points from 5-16 shooting and his hot 3 point shooting is gone as he only made 1 of his 9 attempts.

Boatwright's is missing shots and with his poor performances the team again loss the game, I also hope that JMF will comeback this coming game 5 hope his injury is not that serious, I guess it's really something that will bring big impact for SMB's rally losing JMF will equal the chances of winning from both teams.

A fair and square competition without JMF, though Magnolia manage to tied the series and in coming game 5 if JMF will be sitting down they have another chance to extend their winning streak.

At this time, it's hard to pull the trigger this early because we are not sure about the status of Fajardo next game. Although SMB needs to win the next game but it still depend on how good their line up is. Missing Fajardo is gonna be huge for SMB as they will be missing a good rebounder and shot blocker, so let's calm down for a bit, wait and see, but hopefully JMF is fine and will play.

No need to rush, the game is not today but tomorrow in the evening. It will be Sunday, I'm sure there are a lot of SMB fans that will watch this game. A quick update on the point spread now, SMB is still slightly favored with -3.5 .The same line they had last game that they loss by 11 points. At the first two games, I thought the series would be over in 4 or max 5, but things have changed now, the momentum has shifted to the Magnolia Hotshots, and winning next game could put the SMB on a tough situation. We might still see Fajardo but he might not be 100%.

According to reports, there's a chance that Junmar will be sidelined tomorrow which is the Game 5 of the PBA Finals. If Junmar will not play, it is a great opportunity for the Magnolia to take the Game 5 and secure a 3-2 lead against the San Miguel.

Fajardo's absence may cause a big impact on the San Miguel and this may change the trajectory of the series. Magnolia should capitalize on this game as they are looking forward for that 3rd win.

Magnolia should continue the using the formula they used on winning the last two games. If magnolia manage to win this game, this will take some pressure out of them as they are ahead of one game.
Base on the update posted by Bisdak, it says Fajardo will ensure he will play in game 5.

This was according to the news.

On the other hand, if San Miguel manage to win this one without JMF. It will give Junmar enough rest to finish it at game 7.

Not having JMF doesn't mean they will lose. If we have seen the last game, JMF set but SMB had a rally to make it a close game. When JMF came back, that's when the Magnolia start their own run.

Enough time for JMF to rest, I think they likely to find ways to adjust with how Magnolia is playing them, SMB needs to find the right system to execute in countering Magnolia's offensive and defensive strategy, they manage to limit Boatwright and the rest of SMB's scorers, now it's time for SMB to make that good adjustments and find ways to make sure that they will be taking game 5 and put them back at the top.

on the other side, Magnolia's winning streak gives them confidence as they are doing so well limiting SMB's offensive attacks.

After game 2, I thought or many of us thought that this would be a sweep for SMB Beermen but suddenly the series became interesting as Magnolia managed to even the score, and most importantly they have now the momentum.

As for Junemar Fajardo's injury, nothing to be worried about as he said that he will be available in the pivotal game 5. Though the Hotshots got the momentum but still i will be back the wards of coach Jorge Gallent for tomorrow night's game.

That's a good news, however, I think I need to watch him play first if he is 100%, I can't risk my money so I will just bet live as this could be the same as last game where they are close at the start. I know SMB will win tomorrow, they will not allow to lose 3 straights, and I can also see that their 3 point shooting will be improving.

By the way, anyone here played some bet builder for tomorrow's game?

Magnolia is like playing small ball because they are quick and JMF is a disadvantage on that. If SMB could not hit their shots outside, they might struggle again because the paint will be clogged and Magnolia are just too aggressive in grabbing rebounds and defending the ball. It seems like Magnolia hasn't settled on the 3 point shooting, they keep on attacking the paint so they'll get a high percentage shot and their energy will remain high.

Let's analyze a bit the statistics in game 4. (https://pba.ph/recap?match=2406512)

It was again a low scoring game, just like game 3, and the result was the same.

SMB has 37 attempts in the 3 point area and only made 8...  That's 22% only.
Magnolia has  25 attempts and made 10... That's 40% equivalent.. too high.

You see, although Magnolia had a high 3 point percentage, they still choose to limit their attempts.

I didn't know about this rule. So if a player have maxed out 5 technical fouls for the entire season or conference then he's eligible for that. What a rule but I guess this will teach most of the players to be careful for every fouls that they do because it becomes crucial at the finals if ever they become one of the teams there. It was just fun to see Jericho did returned the favor to Calvin on game 2 but his presence was important on game 3 and that's one reason they lose.

There was a similar rule in the NBA too, but it's 16 technical fouls before a player gets suspended for one game without pay. It make sense that it's more than the PBA since the NBA has more games to be played compared to the PBA. I think Cruz didn't count his technical fouls, if they were behind, that could be a big blow on them.

In today's NBA, a player who receives 16 technical fouls in a season is suspended for one game without pay. For every two additional technical fouls, he receives a subsequent one-game suspension.

I know it exist in the NBA but didn't know PBA have adopted this rule too.
NBA of course have a better ruling and more than with that and PBA is just also following some rules. But let's get on with that game and move on because the game 4 has ended yesterday and we've got a 2-2.
And there's this surprising fact.. I heard last night during the game from sports commentators that if Jericho Cruz again will receive a technical foul, he will be suspended next game. Maybe that's why Cruz wasn't so aggressive and he just control his temper. Yes, it's already 2-2, it's now down to best of 3.

No need to rush, the game is not today but tomorrow in the evening. It will be Sunday, I'm sure there are a lot of SMB fans that will watch this game. Yeah, for sure that Sunday is going to have a lot of crowd and majority of them are going to be with the San Miguel Beermen. I'm thinking that this finals is going to reach to game 7. And it's not yet on the website where the game 7 might commence since this can be ended with a 4-2 but if not and goes to 3-3 then we'd see the schedule for the last game.
If there's a game 7, they might look for a bigger venue, probably in the Philippine Arena...Well, let's hope that it will happen as game 7 is always fun to watch. last time it was Ginebra who filled the huge arena, I'm not sure if this series would do the same.

Moving on to game 4 of the Finals. Have you guys already check out the betting odds, if not yet, let me drop it here.

SMB -3.5 vs Magnolia, the total is still 190.5, last time it went under, and I guess it wen't over on the first 2 games where SMB won. If that's the trend, it's easy to predict the total, SMB wins game 4, the total will be over, I guess the over 190.5 is more attractive, because if SMB will dictate and it will still result to a competitive game, the game might end up in OT ( at least a chance), and that would add possibility hitting the over, if not yet hit during the regular time.

This is scary for Magnolia, they woke up the beast of the SMB when they defended well in game 3. I'm sure tonight there will be a big adjustment as they will not allow to lose again. No wonder there's a huge line movement that made SMB the heavy favorite with -5.5 now. Even at this high spread, I would not hesitate betting on them as SMB could have beat them in double digit on the first 2 games if they didn't allow a comeback in the first game. I'm excited on this game, and I want to see the face of Calvin to regretting on his action towards the coach of SMB.
Line now dropped to -4.5, it's still high I believe. There might be some action too coming from Magnolia if we will interpret the line movement. However, I woudn't bother myself on that now, I would just take it simple, bet on the better team and that is SMB, whatever the spread is.
It turns out it's just a trap. Magnolia suddenly became the stronger team between the two. As they even the series, they look so dominant on the last 2 games. Everyone is contributing, but Tyler Bey did a great job tonight, better than the last game as not only he limited Boatwright, he was also scoring. Perfect game for him so far this series IMO.. I'm happy for him although I loss my bet.

Calvin said they are friends now, haha. https://www.abante.com.ph/2024/02/08/peace-na-ulit-calvin-abueva-nag-sorry-niyakap-hinalikan-si-coach-jorge-gallent/.... but let SMB still avenge their coach.

That's great to know. it's being mature and be sensitive with the feelings of others. Calvin already fined Php100k, he asked sorry now no more issue between these two. It's just a pure game, whatever emotion within the game, it should stay in the game or the court.

They are in good terms now, and Calvin is on a happy mode now since the series is even and it could reach game 7.
However, due to the injury of JMF, if that is serious and would make him sit the rest of the Finals, Magnolia will likely take the championship.

Just a quick update, in this game, the Best player of the conference and the best import were announced.

Here are the winners.

Best import - Jonathan Williams.
Best Player of the conference - CJ Perez

Well deserved for these two entertaining players.

I thought the competition will be between the import of Magnolia and SMB but to my surprise, it was the import of Phoenix Fuel Masters who won the race. Well, I can say that he is a good import because he brought Phoenix to the semi Finals, a success that they were not able to achieve before. And as to the best player, this is a fair judgement, and I hope CJ will prove it tonight on why he was choosen.
Everyone probably thought of it, but we can't deny the contribution of Williams in the playoffs, he turned a mediocre team into a playoff team and their coach really like him calling him as their silent leader. Williams is very humble, so he deserve this although his team didn't advance in the Finals. I'm sure Phoenix will still get him on conference that his height will qualify, so he just have to stick around as he found a team that really admire him.
