Now, with the discovery of Calvin Oftana having a star player quality, they'll become a tough team to crack, so it's a great move for TNT, as that's how business to be done, interest of the team over anything else should be prioritize.

This is the player that TNT should be taking care of, he is still young, has the height and the athleticism. .I would say he is a complete player, and his experience during the SEA Games help him boast his confident, that's why he is playing very good basketball now.

While Pogoy was out, TNT can rely on Calvin Oftana on their outside shooting, man, he is very consistent, so even if he is still young, I trust him.

I agree to that, Oftana is a 2-way player a quality that team really need to take care and for sure he can be the new face of this franchise, while Poguy is out and Castro is not getting any younger, they need someone who can be as reliable as how Oftana is bringing to them now, with good health and dedication I can say that he will get a longer contract.

TNT will make sure that he will stay for good and will provide whatever the needs just to keep him, we might not have that way to conclude but I'm pretty sure that MVP same with how SMC deals with their stars, they will give something that a player can't resist.

Oftana is a full blooded Filipino, so I would be happy to see him being the future star of the TNT, like a main man. Most of the start players in the PBA now are not anymore a full blooded Filipino, so its very rare to see a kind of talent like him.  He is still young, so expect that he can still improve his game, and though we are already impress with the way he is playing now, but more experience will make him a better player, just like when Scottie was still starting in the PBA, and later he won multiple awards including season's MVP and Finals MVP.

Since there's no thread for this post, please allow me to post it here since he is our own.

Let's pray for Rhenz Abando who had a bad fall and injured badly, hopefully he will recover soon and his game will not be affected.
Check the full details here ;

Rhenz Abando suffers multiple spinal fractures, concussion in bad fall

I watch the highlights but I didn't finish because I can't take it, but as I read on the comments it was really bad because he was taken through emergency stretchers.

That was very unfortunate for him. I saw the highlights and there's some commentators saying that it was intentionally pushed by Chinanu Onuaku but refs says otherwise. I think Chinanu Onuaku was already fined with that but the amount of fined is not even significant enough, I think there's a need to investigate for this because if Chinanu Onuaku was really guilty fine is not anymore, he has to be suspended or even ban from the league.

Hopefully he will be able to recover soon, I believe he will have a fast recovery because he is still young.

I don't know, but I have a feeling that they don't want to waste the talent of Mikey, and they believe he is very vital for the team's success, that's why they are gambling, talking to him and maybe sign him soon.

I agree to that, they will play their cards and try to negotiate like what you said, they will not let that talent to be wasted or to be used by other teams here or abroad.

I still remember though when Mikey Williams first entered in the PBA, he already help TNT to win a championship. Before, during the All Filipino Cup, it's always the SMB who are dominating, but with Mikey Williams playing with TNT, their team gets better because their threat on offense have improve.

Mikey Williams, Pogoy, and Jason Castro, they are their big 3 I guess and they are really good playing together.

For the betterment of their current campaign, I think Mikey can help them, but in terms of long-term relationships, it's not good to sign him back, they are just showing him that he can do whatever he wants. TNT or PBA should take things the right way. We all know what he did and how he disrespected the franchise. Now that he has decided to play back, is it just so easy for him?
That's how it is man, Mikey were able to play his card well, so he won. I would not even be surprise if TNT sign him with a good contract because it seems like the Mikey benefited on the current situation of TNT where they lose some star players, especially the import.

Once a contract is signed, we can pressume it's short term, it should be a long term like other standard contract in the PBA.

Then if he decided not to show up again? Just saying, but like what you said he's benefiting in this situation, TNT needs someone who can bring them solid offensive numbers, and we know by fact that Mikey is the best fit for that position, he already prove that and not going to be suprise if whatever the offer it might be to sign him back.

TNT can take this season as not for them, and re-group again next season or enter a trade that will give them players who can help them, though it's always the team owner's decision if MVP decides to re-hire him, it will be a safe comeback for Mikey for sure.

Yeah, NLEX has a chance to be on the top 8 if ever they win their remaining games because TNT Katropa is on a downslide as they will now be playing import-less as they lost RHJ to injury and per report, he can't be replaced anymore as he was a replacement import for Quincy Miller, the original import of TNT (correct me if i'm wrong), so possibly we can't see TNT in the quarter-finals this conference.

Speaking of TNT, there are reports that Mikey Williams is not interested in coming to the team but he will only talk to coach Chot Reyes, what do you think of this guys?

I heard this news as well, apparently, he wants to come back. I think it's okay if he'll come back as they really need him now, they are already undermanned so they'll struggle more going forward. I have a question, if ever the TNT management and Mikey Williams would agree, can Mikey still play at the current season?

TNT already lose their import, if they can't replace him then no chance they'll pass the first round (quarter finals), however, with Mikey Williams, that will make the series more interesting to watch.

What is the current status of the tournament now?

I just check on their official website and the time countdown says 9 days and 19 hours for the next scheduled games.

Are we already in the elimination/ playoffs? If so, was there a teams that had been eliminated already?

PBA is just taking a break. The elimination round ended when all of the teams played 11 games apiece, looking at the standings most of them had only played 9 games. But even though the eliminations is ongoing, some teams are already eliminated even if they win their remaining games, Converge is one of them.

So far based on standings, no team has played 11 games yet. The team with the highest numbers played are the Magnolia hotspots with 10.

However, based on the standing, we can already tell what teams are gonna be eliminated soon.
https://pba.ph/standings

So if only 8 teams will remain, the bottom 4 will be eliminated, and currently these are the teams who are at the bottom 4.

1. NLEX
2.  Terrafirma Dyip
3. Blackwater Elite
4. Converge FiberXers

Of the 4, I think only NLEX has a change to be part of the top 8.

I think we just need for the experts to tell us the current status now. Based on what I heard when I watch the last game, I heared a word elimination, so most probably they are on a ranking now and those who does not have a good ranking will be eliminated.

Meanwhile, we have a game today for EASL tournament.

Currently it's Meralco vs Seoul SK Knights where Meralco is down by double digit, and because I trust Meralco I bet on them with the handicap of +9.5

TNT is playing without an import now, but they started strong in the first quarter, good thing Ginebra were able to catch up in the 2nd quarter and they are even now at 37 at the end of the half. During the first quarter when Ginebra was already down, I was able to bet on -5.5 but now if you are interested in betting, you can take it at -7.5.

IMO, this is still a very enticing bet as TNT won't be able to last with RHJ whom they are used to in carrying their offense.

Both bet (-5.5 and -7.5) won as Ginebra won by 8 points. Good thing the last 2 sequence of TNT didn't convert to offense. The factor maybe was they are in early foul trouble in the 4th quarter, giving the Ginebra a good chance to rally with a 27-13 score in the 4th quarter only.

On the 2nd game since he came back, still the best player is Scottie Thompson if I heared it right.

That was a come-from-behind win by the Ginebra Kings. They struggled on the first three-quarters of the game even though RHJ was out due to injury, thanks to that 2 triples from Scottie Thompson in the last two minutes of the game that served as the final nail in the coffin for the TNT Katropa.

Yes, Scottie was named the best player of the game last night and he deserved it as his points were the biggest factor why they won.

Ginebra again, congrats...

I'm just curious with what has been the trend with the PBA as based on what I observe, when a team miss their import, they seemed to give their opponents a problem, either they'll win or they'll cover the handicap. I'm getting puzzled now if it's really the refs are trying to control the calls in favor of the import-less team or just the locals playing better without an import.

For example, this particular game ( SMB vs Northport) https://www.pba.ph/recap?match=2369291

Northport won despite playing without an import.

In that first game, not sure though what the import can provide for the team, knowing that there are many firepower that can explode with SMB's squad, but like what you have mentioned, it's a debut, and we don't know yet if this new import can quickly adopt the way SMB plays the game.

In the first 3 quarters you can tell that Phoenix could win, but in the 4th quarter everything changes as it was all SMB.

They had a crazy run, just imagine a 38-16 score, that was 22 points win in just one quarter alone.
Overall everyone was contributing and their import score 26 points which is not bad for a debut.

Really, I thought Phoenix got that but in just quarter their effort was wasted.

I did not watch the game but same with what I mentioned, they have players who can really produce numbers and that what happened, TR7 and CJ both have good offensive contributions while the new import also contribute decently with 26 points and 16 rebounds, not bad for a newly acquired reinforcement.

Now SMB secure their place for the next round, something interesting as JMF still at rest and he might be returning soon, ready for the upcoming playoffs for sure.
