Portugal team is also quite good going into this World Cup. But I don’t think Portugal team is very balanced. And yes, Cristiano Ronaldo is obviously not in the form currently. So, that might be a problem for them.
Portugal is also an opponent to be reckoned with even though Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't have the slick performance that was seen in his youth, but Cristiano Ronaldo is a player who can still be relied on because one or two good surprises are still capable of being created by him in matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo is always a player who, even if he doesn't do much on the field, will force the opponent to have one or two players attentive to him, and that can free other players from the team. If the squad gets used to having a game line without always focusing on Ronaldo, the team will present very good football, as Portugal has very good players.

I'm also not very confident in Portugal, although I think they have some of the best players in the World Cup. We'll see how the coach will manage to unite them and get them to play. If you don't play thinking about a draw, but thinking about winning, you can go far.

I like how Argentina is so much passionate about this World Cup jazz because of Lionel Messi. It’s like they are basically believing that they have to play well because of Lionel Messi. And the Argentina squad also understands very well how important this World Cup is for Lionel Messi. So, it feels like they are also going to try the best that they can for Lionel Messi.
Lionel Messi is no longer a young player even though Argentina still has good hopes for him in this world cup, but I have a little doubt about Lionel Messi's performance if other players can't give him the best pass every game. And I still have even more faith in Brazil who will make a very good surprise at the world cup this time because the Brazilian squad is also not in a bad state at the moment.

Am thinking that England might be the suprise package in this year tournament, because most of this players have been together for years now and have blend well, with good understanding, that's why they make it to the finals at Euros, sterling and Harry Kane have been playing together in the starting eleven for years now up to eight years now, when you consider the talented attackers in the England set up you won't doubt the potential, a team that consists of Saka, foden,Rashford and greelish are among the attacking unit.

Belgium is still 2nd best team in the world right now in ranks so I personally I bet on them to reach at least semi-finals in Qatar as this World Cup is a "last dance" for so many teams and players so I really hope we will see the best from each of them but Belgium shouldn't be underestimate as they have x17odds to win which is kinda hard to reach but semi-finals should be achieveable.

Also if I take a closer look on Germany squad...man...Die Mannschaft looks SUPER dangerous with full of young talents that are hungry to prove themselves on the biggest tournament in football and this should be my 2nd team that have a big chance to reach semi-finals.

For Messi, this World Cup is his last chance to win the title of world champion and become an Argentine legend for all time, in the rank of Maradona, but his chances are not great because I don't see Argentina as the main favorite of the competition.
In my opinion, the main favorites of this world championship are Brazil and France.
Personally, I think that Messi and Argentina were at their peak in 2014 at the World Cup in Brazil, when they unfortunately lost to Germany in the final.
At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, they were very bad and barely qualified for the knockout stage of the competition.
It will be very difficult for them to repeat the result from 2014 at this world cup.
Definitely this would be the last world cup Messi and Ronaldo will be featuring in so I expect they will put in energy and devotion to making it memorable. I read a statement by Ronaldo also that if Portugal win the world cup he will retire. I know both players will want to give everything to seeing their nations successful but I doubt any would win it this time even with the much expections and devotion because their are better teams also competing for same trophy.

juhuuu .today from 7 pm utc there will be beer on the fan mile in Qatar . the many many fans will surely be happy.
in and around the stadiums there will be no alcohol . there it is forbidden . is this a real football world cup...... no.never .
football fans without beer is like football without round leather !

and ..... the beer on the fan mile is more expensive than a mass of beer at the munich oktoberfest €13,50 > > 500ml budweiser
and ......you have to be at least 21 years old..otherwise you only get water ...hot or cold ??   Grin
Beer? Beer is the last of the worries, they are printing and spreading papers around saying "please respect the culture" and warning people not to wear shorts or short skirts and all, every clothing must cover shoulders and must be longer than your knees, basically pants. Imagine a scenario where you are inviting all the people of the world, and telling them to follow your own rules instead of respecting theirs, and saying that’s only okay because you want them to respect you? How about respecting them?

I said it before, I will say it again, this is the worst world cup in the history of world cups and I will not watch it legally, I will find illegal ways to watch the games, or just watch highlights etc, would be a lot better, and it’s good that not many people went to Qatar, they do not deserve it. This did not help improve Qatars fame, it basically caused their reputation to be worse.

I have heard that Qatar tried to bribe some Ecuador players to be able to guarantee starting with a win on the first day of the World Cup. The amount offered is said to be like 7.4 million dollars. This is really unbelievable. I wonder if FIFA is thinking of any sanction about this attempt. It is a crime in the end but I feel like we won't see anything big from FIFA for now. They are the host country and I guess they won't just throw them out of the World Cup while the whole tournament is being played in Qatar.

But actually they should do so. Qatar can't prove anything by defeating Ecuador. So there is no meaning in such bribe attempt. Just because of wanting to start with a win ahead of their supporters in their country, they can't find the right in themselves to bribe anyone.

Do you have a source for this news or is this propaganda only? If this is the plan then this deal would not come in the public. Since this is public, so it means there is no truth in this news ? Huh

However if somehow Qatar wins the first match, people will think that this was because of this deal which was made in 7.4M which was never there. Also this false news can be made viral to influence on the decision of the gamblers for this match. Anyways such news whether true or false are not good for the football.

@noormcs5 this news has gone viral and many news outlets have shared this story, and now FIFA can probably save face by telling that it’s fake or they can say that they’ll quickly get to the bottom of this but in either case fan’s won’t buy it. Furthermore second option is to ban those player’s who accepted the money since banning the host country may not be as simple as it looks, and lastly FIFA needs to to take decision quickly or I strongly feel that fan’s will end up boycotting this World Cup.

If that happens then this will be the biggest football bribery scene, what's more, it's the class of a World Cup match, all the eyes of the world will watch this match, of course this will ruin all the bets that are on gambling sites, and of course there will be losses for connoisseurs. football, it's a shame that rumors are being spread, I really don't agree with this rumor, I hope it's not true..

There is no chance that Messi will be left out of the playing XI, if you are pointing towards that possibility. At this point, he is one of the top players in world football and Argentina's chances of winning the trophy this time depends a lot on him. Fortunately for Argentina, they are not overdependent on Messi (unlike the case with some of the other teams such as Portugal and Belgium), as they have good players such as Ángel Di María, Paulo Dybala and Lautaro Martínez, who can release some of the pressure on Messi.
That's right. I don't know how anyone can think that Messi won't be playing in the starting lineup for Argentina. He is their best player, but fortunately for them, other players are pretty good too. Besides, Messi is not a player who's only strength is scoring goals. He is also one of the best playmakers in the world. So he doesn't need to score a lot of goals for his team to be indispensable for them.
Messi is currently in the best shape as we already watch him with PSG in Ligue1 and Champions League where he is more useful player so most chances Argentine will not leave him out of the squad as he is also on mission for his first World Cup win and for his country this is going to happen after 42 years even before his birth but right now he is the best playmaker and his performance is also better than many quality players specially as in just early phase of the season, and he has already done 11 goals and 14 assist for the PSG in French League and Champions League which is clearly indicating about his performance so if he wants to play for next four years this possibility is also available without any big problem.

For Messi, this World Cup is his last chance to win the title of world champion and become an Argentine legend for all time, in the rank of Maradona, but his chances are not great because I don't see Argentina as the main favorite of the competition.

I have placed a bet on England to win the World Cup @9.00:

I have a feeling like England might have a chance in this World Cup. I'm aware of how hard their job is. However the only thing they need is a good management actually. Because I strongly believe that they have a really adequate squad to do the job one way or another. This might be Southgate's last World Cup with England at the same time according to speculations. I expect a solid job from him in this tournament. I hope that Kane shows an impressive performance as well just as he does with Tottenham jersey.
In sports any result is possible because few years back there were no positive news about Pakistan team in cricket, and they won Champions trophy which was the biggest upset so here England is having good squad and quality is also at his best with these conditions and their performance is also improved in last few years they can win this time with in last two decades European teams are dominating in this event and South Americans are having not enough quality for beat them.

Even Brazil and Argentina both are hot favourite for this cup with France and England from Europe are also in good shape which is clearly indicating things are on level but with this all we can expect any big upset as well which is also beauty of the soccer and this world cup I have feeling @9 is surely very good odds, and they have fair chance for win this world cup.

This seems to be fake news - but the real news of the day is alcohol banned in the stadium for FIFA
and also homesexulaity is a punisable crime in Qatar - fans have to be very careful there.

Unfortunately for the sport, this World Cup is going to be a real fiasco.

If that happens, the ban on beer at the stadium, FIFA will have problems with one of the main sponsors of the competition, the beer brand Budweiser, which could demand compensation in the millions.
Of course, if that happens, Qatar will pay compensation as money is no object. Besides, they don't have any problem with the image they pass on to the world, they just want to be able to say internally that they received the World Cup.

I have placed a bet on England to win the World Cup @9.00:

I have a feeling like England might have a chance in this World Cup. I'm aware of how hard their job is. However the only thing they need is a good management actually. Nah, I'm still at the same page back in July, England has a low chance. That 9.00 odds tells that as well. Still a nice bet though, it's a risk you can take.
I checked odds, Brasil is still favorite and Argentina is close second. France is third and England is fourth. I believe Spain and Germany has good odds as well. Since this is the number one international cup I believe it won't go any other team than these six favorites. Underdogs have very slim chance in WC, this is not Euro cup. So don't expect a miracle like Greece did in 04.

I don't think Brasil is the biggest favorite for this tournament but they are always in the discussion. They used to have more powerful squad but now they are mid team at best. Neymar is not the ideal leader, they are far away from real Ronaldo and then Ronaldinho era.
England never had an achievement for years, they always say maybe this time but it never happens. I'll probably stick with Argentina this time as I want Messi to finally lift the trophy before he retires.

If this is happening then certainly it's nothing new because as we are already watching things going into this event from 2015 they can do any things for their first win from the first day this event is having many controversies like human rights violations and many other allegations which are looking for replies but nothing positive happening as money and power is working for them and this attempt is surely against the spirit of the game which can create more the worst thing in future as well hopefully FIFA will not ignore things like this and trying to have their own investigations and full punishment for the guilty party because if they ignore things like these surely we can expect more problems in future as well even more complications can appear.

Let's see if Messi will really play in the world cup this time because there is no confirmation about it through official news although I personally believe that Messi will definitely be used by the Argentine team considering that Messi can still play well in Ligue1 at PSG. Although the productivity of the number of goals is no longer the same as when Messi was younger, Messi is still able to help the team play better.

Messi is the mainstay of Argentina, it is hard to believe that he is not included in the line up, unless he has a serious injury. Messi is really very influential in the team, anyone who coaches the tango team certainly won't dare to make controversial decisions against him.

Argentina has big targets in this World Cup, I'm sure Messi will do his best to bring the trophy home to his country and of course Messi will really want to match Maradona at the international level.
