World cup is the biggest sport tournament in the world for sure. Nothing is even close and nothing can compere to it no matter what anyone says. So many people are watching this and every year there is a new record. Even the people from US are now seeing how big football(soccer) is.
And this is a golden opportunity that they may never have again. They will do everything in their power on the pitch. After all they definitely want to have a career in a big team. The World Cup is one way to promote themselves to the teams they are aiming for. Because I'm sure they must have a dream team in their career.
But let me go to another topic. The World Cup is a big platform, like every year, there are many new young players in all the teams. The World Cup is a place for them to compete, I think they can show their talent and take themselves to a much better place. The World Cup is not a formality, it is an event to take world football to a better place.
Soccer World Cup is prestigious event in this world and every country want to play in this but a good thing we have to select just 32 teams from all globe for this event and these are surely one of the best in this business which is the beauty of this game with this all just quality and skilled players are able to play in this as they deserve this but good thing happening now we have 48 teams which mean more entertainment and better chance for many more countries which is going to be great for this game and future of this game with many new players and youths will be able to have dreams about this which can fulfilled.

FIFA is surely happy to have this all even many allegations and corruption reports are also around with them but still they are doing amazing job and have bright future of this game which is beauty of this game.

FIFA World Cup is the most popular sports event in the plant and if I am not wrong it is even more popular than the Olympics. So these players are getting an opportunity to showcase their skills for the first time in front of billions of people. Especially for smaller teams such as Tunisia, Costa Rica and Cameroon, this is like a once in a lifetime opportunity. If some of the players perform well against some of the top sides, then the clubs will be interested in signing them. I would not count the European teams, because they already have the Euro Cup.

It is a double edged sword. Some people claim that it will increase the number of one-sided matches (although I don't share that opinion). IMO, they should add another round-robin phase after the first round. What about something like this? Out of 48 teams (12 groups), 24 teams proceed to the next round. Now these 24 teams should be divided in to 8 groups, with the top team from each group going to the Quarter-finals. I believe that this is a much more risk-free plan compared to knockout matches starting from the second round.
Wouldn't a competition system with 64 teams and 16 groups be much better?
32 teams would advance to the knockout stage of the competition and we would see even more uncertain and exciting matches at the World Cup.
In this way, even more national teams would qualify for the world championship, so many small national teams would finally get the chance to participate in the world championship.
I don't even need to explain how much this would mean for the popularization of football in many countries of the world.
There is no doubt a good idea but hosting 64 nations is not easy for any country this needs to be more than two or three countries coming at one time and doing things for event like this and with this we can surely increase quality and many countries which are having good skilled players are also able to join and have their best. Soccer popularization is already unanimous because right now FIFA having around 170 members which is amazing and from these just 32 are coming for this mega event is also not easy for many countries with quota system which is currently due to quality and increasing number from 32 to 48 is also not bad at all.

I am feeling if we are going with @Sithara007 which is implementing teams for 48 not bad at all but final decision is coming from FIFA how they will manage this all we have to wait for this until long time as now next world cup is going to play in 2026 in the USA and few other countries as well which is also good idea.

In fact, what you mentioned is already happening and the 2026 World Cup will be held in as many as 3 countries, Canada, USA and Mexico.
I really don't think it would be a problem for those 3 countries to host 64 national teams instead of 48.
European football championships are also increasingly being held in more countries, and this is almost becoming a rule.
I think I read somewhere that FIFA actually has 211 members, so it would be fair to allow more national teams to participate in the World Cup.

Indeed, apart from the competition presented at the World Cup, there will also be potential players born from this biggest football event. They will definitely take advantage of this as an opportunity to show off their skills to get the attention of world-renowned teams. And usually it will happen, there will definitely be one or two players joining the big teams after the World Cup.

Spain is placed in a very tough group, along with Germany and Japan. I don't know whether they will manage to finish ahead of the group. And even if they finish on top, the knockout matches are going to be very tough. In the next stage, they will be facing either Belgium or Croatia and both of them are very good teams. And next round is going to be even more tough, because in the Quarter-finals stage they will be facing Brazil in all probability. But Spain is in good form at this moment, and I have high hopes for them.

Yeah, E is a tough group, I agree. But I think Germany and Spain are going to pass into the next round.  At the end of the day those two are the only winners of previous world cups in that group.

It's definitely going to be an interesting group to watch though.

It will be interesting to see who will top the group. Because at some point (QF?) the winners of this group will probably play against Brazil. Anyway, the other two teams in the group (Japan and Costa Rica) should not be much of a worry for Spain. Their main target would be not to lose the match against Germany. A win would be better, but if that is not possible then even a draw will be good. In that case they just need to score enough goals to make sure that they top the group. IMO, Spain is having a higher probability compared to Germany.

Well, due to the context of the group, I would say that it could be called the group of death, because Spain and Germany are titans of football, they are World Cup players and have great chances of winning, for me Spain has great football, their league says it all, nothing else to see the representation of Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Barcelona is just a starter to what it represents in Spain, now if we go to the German league, we have teams that are at level 1A, they are for me candidates for win the world cup, this without discrediting the other teams from the other countries, just arriving in Qatar means that they are very big, the team from my country has never qualified for a world cup, so those who are right now should take advantage of that great opportunity .

Yes, without a doubt the players will have enough exposure for the clubs in Europe to see it, it is a great opportunity, and I think that Real Madrid especially will be looking for players, because they have hardly made any signings and they are always looking for the best players In addition to the youngest, that is, a star in formation and they end up promoting them, that always happens, now, I would like a great Asian or African soccer star to come out this year since it is a very showy soccer and I think that they need to have more exposure, it would be spectacular if many players came from those parts of the world.

In fact, FIFA leaders are implementing what they promised in the election campaign, that they would increase the number of participants in the World Cup and thus give a chance to small national teams to participate in the World Cup. Based on that promise, they won the elections.
There are not many sports motives here, but only politics and elections.
Everyone knows anyway that earnings do not come from small countries but from large national teams with great marketing potential, such as England, France, Brazil etc.
Big TV companies don't pay big money to FIFA for their viewers to watch Qatar, Ghana, Costa Rica... but to watch national teams that attract the interest of the largest number of viewers.
Increasing the number of national teams at the World Cup will prevent unpleasant surprises like Italy's non-participation in the last two World Cups, which meant less financial profit for FIFA, and FIFA must not allow such things anymore  Grin

There is no doubt that Argentina is a very good team at the moment. As a team, they have a very good attack lineup with Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez, and Dybala. There are decent players in the midfield and the defense is balanced as well. I have high hopes for Argentina in the upcoming World Cup.

Argentina is the team I hope to win in this year's world cup. a series of names including making the argentina squad one of the favorite candidates to become champions, besides Lionel messi, argentina has a fairly well-known striker option including, Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez, Julian Alvarez. Argentinian coach (Lionel Scaloni) can apply various formation patterns depending on the needs of the team when competing and on several occasions, Scaloni often changes his squad formation pattern and it works, this time we will see how strong they will be when they compete in the world cup.

In Portugal, on the other hand, this is not the case. In the team, Cristiano Ronaldo stands out as the main player. As far as I am concerned, without him, all of that would be essentially nothing. I agree that there are some good players in the team as well, but the team does not have a balanced selection of players. The situation is certainly not as balanced as it is in Argentina.

IMO, actually Fernando Santos has many options besides Cristiano Ronaldo, there are Diego Jota, Andre Silva, Guedes, and Ricardo Horta. he can put all four names into the main starter without Ronaldo, but anyway it depends on the strategy used by Santos.
On the other hand, Bruno Fernandes is one of the midfielders who always helps every attack, he is very much needed in the Portugal squad.  as for other names that are quite great are Bernaldo Silva, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Pepe. actually they have a fairly even depth especially in midfielders.

both the player will do their best to win the tournament as this will be very important event
but legendary like Messi and Ronaldo come in lifetime. Last night I watched a documentary on the stadium where the teams will be playing final - the stadium is so gigantic and so well made. Hats off to the government of Qatar.

In terms of the quality of their players, they are still very good for the current world cup, but for the problem of dependence, especially for the Portugal national team, it must be reduced a little because their dependence on Ronaldo is still greater than Argentina.
Indeed, in this case we know that the figures of Ronaldo and Messi are still vital for each country, but they must also be aware that this kind of dependence actually prevents other players from developing bigger.
Even Ronaldo and Messi both are vital for their teams but mostly now their teams are not fully depended on them with too many youngsters and better quality players are still available and doing much better which is helpful for these teams as well, but presence of these players are doing good part for them and their moral is also very high which is good for them in this event.

Messi is surely a legendary player and now this time he is here for his final event and want to win which is possible but things surely favoring him as well because their squad is also good and have ability but on other side Ronaldo is not having luxury like Messi, and they just can go through until last eight if they have done something special otherwise their job going to end in last 16.

I don't think that more teams participating in the World Cup will bring more quality to the competition, on the contrary, the quality will decrease because we will have weaker teams in the competition.

It is true that this will allow star players from smaller teams to participate. But it is also true that some of these countries only have three or four world-class quality players. But we can also be surprised with teams that we think are small, showing a lot of quality.

I think that this FIFA strategy is one more form of football marketing, as it attracts more teams and, in turn, more spectators to the world cup.
Right now we are not talking about quality, it's all about more teams and chances for many players those are not having chance to participate in this mega event due to tough competition. For quality, I am not agreed with you because we already have good quality in soccer and mostly world's best teams are eligible for participating into this which mean this event already have good quality and as after increasing members number many will be able to increase their infrastructure and quality as well.

With current system and things as they are doing they don't need more marketing for this game they already have enough funds and system which is giving them good profit which is they are dividing into members for increasing their facility and quality which is best for all world members.

Yes.. this is one of the reasons why I supported FIFA's decision to increase the number of participants from 32 to 48. There is no guarantee that all the quality players will feature in 2026 world cup, but as the number of participants increase more number of teams will qualify and chances of someone missing out gets smaller. Håland is lucky, as he is just 22 years old. I am sure that his team will qualify for the 2026 edition. But that is not the case with someone like Goran Pandeev. He is such a quality player and unfortunately since he is playing for North Macedonia, he never got a chance to appear in the FIFA World Cup.

I think the new superstar will come from another country. We'll see which team brings younger players, and hopefully there will be a surprise discovery this world cup. We need more superstars as the current ones are getting old and retiring soon.
But then, some of the most promising youngsters are not taking part in this tournament. Erling Håland from Norway is one of them. Norway couldn't qualify this time. Milan Škriniar from Slovakia, Marco Verratti from Italy, Luis Diaz from Colombia and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Gabon are some of the promising players who won't be part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Feels bad about these players.. but that's how it works. Hopefully their absence won't be felt and we will witness the rise of other younger players.
