Somebody else found it first. Now, this should be avoided by propagating new blocks rather quickly, but if the network is too slow or split you might advance the blockchain with your block only to find out 5 blocks down the road that the network adopted another blockchain. That's when your block (and everything else that built upon it) becomes invalid.

what is a causing a block to be invalid anyways?

I'm in the same boat for now. The productive value of my GPU is running out by the hour, so I need to get as much out of it as soon as possible. I don't understand what is causing all of the invalid blocks, and haven't seen any explanation for that. Until the pool is upgraded, I will be going to a different one.

i never liked the fact that US and EU Server work completely seperated and work on different blocks. Then the US Server was testing around with a new payout method wich finally broke the whole US Server. Everyone was on the EU Server after that, wich was not that bad. But i have seen alot more stale and corrupted shares since everyone came to the EU Server. Maybe to much load for one server?
Finally the EU Server was goin down too. And now i am asked to vote for payout systems wich i don't realy understand completely.

After all i had to move to a different pool now. I'm realy sorry about that as i generally liked the st. eligius pool.

I hope you get back to a stable system soon with all servers working on the same block. I will surely come back then, but for now.. Bye Bye St.Eligius Sad

yeah lol wtf is going on. I went to bed, woke up 10 hours later and I have less bitcoinage then when I went to sleep. at 350 gh/s thats gotta be like what 10 million shares for over a day and no valid blocks found. Smells fishy.

I have to admit that things look a little bumpy right now. I was seeing a notable amount of corrupted shares, and was worrying that I had some hardware problem... but then I looked at a few other user stats and concluded that it's probably not a local problem.

Would whatever is causing this also be the reason for the high proportion of invalid blocks the last day or so?

When do the outstanding us-server funds get paid-off? Does the 1 week waiting period work there?

It's a good idea to let the users decide which payment method will be used.
But ... I'd be a lot more happy if the pool becomes more stable and has less downtime. A lot of hashing power is lost due to disconnects, idle miners and complete takedowns :/ Please, work on that - I really like eligius.st
+1. The invalid blocks are probably the biggest waste. If these can be reduced, that would be great.

The artefact2 stats appear to be bugged (or maybe it's the eligius api): The block found "15 hours ago", round duration 2h 1m 26s, 000000000000001f0dcaf8ff5607dcecc6c7aabc2cf3c723cb116b5bdd05906e, is shown as "valid" in the "Recent blocks and rewards" table, although it is not found at blockexplorer.com and the reward was definitely not added to my balance.

Gentakin is right, this block is listed as valid in the EU log, but it is not valid. Is the hash incorrect? Did Eligius reward us for an invalid block?

Yes, it's a bug. I'm working on it but it's not as easy as it looks like.

Did Eligius reward us for an invalid block?

I started re-using my eligius address only recently, so by adding up all the rewards listed on my stats page I can see: No, that block reward was not added to my account balance. So it's simply a display error.

Eligius EU appears to have been down for a few hours. My hashrate is now fine, no stale shares, and a valid block estimate.

Yup, no estimated payout for me but the hashrate seems to be about right. What's up with Eligius EU?

> You haven't mined for a week. No stats for you !

if I start again with an old address will it be reactivated? I have been mining for an hour or so now and still nothing is showing up...

BTW, why is it that so many blocks are invalid? I'm counting about 8 last week (the "about x days ago" makes it hard to get right), that's like.. 10%? Just bad luck? Or is eligius-eu connected to the bitcoin network in a not-so-good way? (I also think that long polling responses arrive at my miner much later from eligius compared to other pools when I mine one 2 pools simultaneously.)
