You can move this to off-topic. I will stop gambling and take 5 BTC. I believe that is what other people will do too if they are not very rich and unable to afford 5 BTC easily.

But we gamble in so many ways we do not know with ourselves in the society and deals we make with clse friends and pals. I will take that 5BTC off course yes.
I may not go anywhere near gambling, both online and wherever they want me too.
The truth is I'll hoard that Bitcoin and good forever.

I can survive without gambling but asking me to do so is almost like taking my free will from me. I'm not admitting I'm addicted but I'll miss the part of me tjsy wants to win gambling all by my azz.

If in real life someone would offer 5 Bitcoins to a gambler just in exchange for him to stop gambling, who would refuse the amount of 100k$ more, for sure everyone who will accept that amount will stop of course. It's like hitting the lottery when it happens to us.
I just hope that a true gambling addict will stop gambling after receiving 5 Bitcoins.

The jackpot amount depends on the country that you live in. For some such an amount will completely change the way they live and for others it won't be enough. A gambler no matter how much he wins will still gamble for his satisfaction. By satisfaction I mean his addiction towards Gambling, he will convince himself to go further as he was able to win a big amount of 5 BTC he can now win 10 BTC with the previous winning amount. The never stop unless they feel it is enough for them.

A gambling addict will use all of his money to gamble, maybe he will hit a jackpot that make him to win 5 Bitcoins, but do you think he has not spend more than 5 Bitcoins? most gambler not earn money, they're technically lose in the long run, the winning they get aren't enough to cover up all of the previous losses.

Stopping a gambling addict come from his character and activity, not a reward.
You are right bud, even as i might want to argue, i cant help but agree with your input, being addicted to gambling is not all about needing money, this is why we see many addicted gambler who are wealthy, and yet cant stop gambling, not everyone is gambling for the sake of making money, some people are gambling solely as a way to satisfy their urge, a friend of mine who is addicted to gambling once confessed to me that he wishes to stop gambling, that is, he wants to stop but just cant get himself to stop, and his reason for wanting to stop was because he realized he had lost so much to gambling, much more than he did ever imagined, at first, he felt he was gambling to make money, but when he wasn't making the money and decided to stop, he realized that his gambling was no longer about making money, but about satisfying his urge..

This is why, when 5 bitcoin is offered to gambling addict to stop him gambling, he might accept the offer, but he still might end up spending 3/4 of that bitcoin on gambling still.

Let's suppose, if someone gives me 5 bitcoins. can I guarantee that I will not gamble again, with the fact that we may not gamble as a condition after getting the 5 bitcoins. actually, I do not dare to guarantee and promise something that has not happened. as human beings, who have thoughts, emotions, passions and desires, psychologically we tend to be tempted by something we like even though, we know very well that it should not be done as the conditions for the scenario to get 5 bitcoins. today, we can talk A, tomorrow, maybe what we say will be different even though we have actually promised not to do it.

Actually, this question is difficult for me to answer.
The thing is, what we're talking about is a scenario and not a reality. maybe, I will obey not to do it, or maybe vice versa we can not stop the desire to have fun with this one hobby. point is, I can't answer the question from the OP. the problem is, who is the person who will offer it to us. 5 bitcoin if I convert it to my local currency the value is fantastic, I can even buy a dream house in my city. I just want to try to be realistic, from my point of view.
But, Let's say the opposite, if i have 5.10 bitcoins. I don't mind spending just a few dollars, with the scenario of channeling a hobby just for fun. plus, think of it as something to relax on the sidelines after work.
It doesn't work that way, you can't answer a hypothetical question realistically, either take the Bitcoins and never gamble again, or reject the offer and keep gambling, whichever you think is easier for you. You don't have the option to first accept the Bitcoins and then decide to spend a few dollars every day from it on gambling because that is totally against the question, if you answer it that way, then you should also think that no one would ever give you anything and ask you to stop gambling forever because 5 Bitcoins is not a small amount.

So, we should simply answer hypothetical questions with answers that they require without thinking of the actual outcomes and stuff that you can't do, and even if you do, you should choose one answer and stick to it instead of trying to mix it up like that.

If someone is asked such a question, the answer will depend on the financial status of the person. A rich gambler won't quit gambling if given 5 BTC. Because 5 BTC won't change his life. And when an ordinary gambler is given such an opportunity, he would surely not want to miss out on such a great opportunity. And for those who are addicted to gambling or those who enjoy gambling, it is not possible to give up gambling. So such opportunities will depend more on the financial status of a gambler.
back to what you said it all depends on the person financial condition even though a rich gambler might ignore the 5 BTC but even someone who has a bad financial condition might not miss it but after the money runs out or indeed he is addicted he will definitely receive that amount after that a few weeks or a few months he would come back to gamble thinking of a big payoff with a big budget.
so financial conditions cannot guarantee all of that except for a healthy mindset that always doesn't think about gambling but thinks about better finances.

The retirement age globally lies between 55 to 60. At that age I can understand our body won't be as productive as it was before. The age group that you wrote can still be competitive enough. At that age ambition and achieving more doesn't stop. When you stop competing with yourself every ambition would stop. For some an amount of 5 BTC can help them lead a an average life for others it is still less and they would try to get more. This is when they might try to gamble some of those BTC to achieve their target quickly. They might fail or win depends on their luck.
We must know how capable we are of achieving that ambition. If we are old, we should be able to reduce that ambition. Our children must continue our family's journey while we can supervise our children's life journey and still give them advice for the best. If we only want to fulfill our desires and ambitions, it will never be achieved, considering that our age is limited and our health and abilities will also decline. If we are old enough and can get those 5 BTC, we can try to help our kids with those 5 BTC so they can use them better than us.

Hey fellow gamblers, I don't know if this question has been asked before on this forum. If it has , please let me know and I will lock it and move it to archival.

My question is this, if you were given 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again for the rest of your life, will you take it? Considering that first you will already be rich or the prospect of getting rich is high from it. And also if you play your cards right by investing the 5 Bitcoin properly, it could also mean generational wealth. Or will you say that 5 Bitcoins can't match the thrill and pleasure that comes from gambling, be it at a physical casino or an online casino.

Of course if someone gives me 5 Bitcoin then I would give up on gambling without any question. For someone like me Bitcoin is far more worthier than gambling and if some body gives me 5 Bitcoin then I would give up on gambling for sure, but who would give someone that many Bitcoin in 2023, and why should they give someone that amount of Bitcoin just to end up the gambling?

I don't know about the gambling addicts but for people like me 5 Bitcoin would be a life changing opportunity as trading with 5 Bitcoin would allow me to earn far more profits than someone could ever dream in the world of gambling. In the end Bitcoin is still the winner for gamblers who just gamble for entertainment purpose.

If we only pursue satisfaction, it will never be enough. We must remember how far we can go to get more, especially if we look at it from an age perspective where young people can get more because they are in their productive period. Meanwhile, if we are old enough, meaning if we are over 45-50, our abilities have decreased significantly. Of course, we are also unable to compete with younger people, so we must know ourselves. So if someone gives 5 BTC and we can still find more BTC, maybe we can do it. But if we can't, it's better for us to enjoy those 5 BTC in moderation.

Maybe it's not even about greed, rather it's because 5 Bitcoins aren't enough for the person to fulfill all their dreams and goals. Even though 5 BTCs look a formidable sum of money, it's not enough to live confortably until the end of your life considering all the expenses we already have daily, plus adding increasements due to having access to a superior level of confort, which demands more money and income.

It makes the person looks for more money yet, and then gambling will remain as a valid alternative for those who believe it can work as a source of extra income.
Yes, you are right it cannot be called greed. It is called insatiable wherein a person doesn't feels full even though he has more than enough. This is quite a common thing among youngsters who are never happy with what they have and want more for themselves. We all have gone through the same psychological condition some time in our life or may be going through it now. A gambler would always be insatiable and would always try to achieve more money for him. After owning 5 BTC if a gambler cannot stop gambling then most probably it is because of the addiction or because of insatiability.

Yeah not enough if we talk about financial stability but the one discuss here is about getting 5 BTC and the condition is to quit gambling for the rest of his life. Then 5 BTC is I think a good bargain and anyone would take that offer since they can use the money for anything they want except gambling. Now its up for the person on how he could multiply that so he can live comfortably.

People only gambles in order to make extra profit. So yes for them the amount doesn’t matter. Yes if you can promise them that you will fulfil their necessities by providing them Bitcoins regularly, then definitely they might think of stopping the gambling. Else they will continue to gamble when they are short of money. This basically depends on the person’s requirements. Hope you will get it cleared a bit.

I think gamblers may never accept this offer because it is fun experience for them so they can't live without. I think I would personally consider this offer because 5 Bitcoin is very big money for me. I won't be able to make that money probably ever with my wages. But as I said before, I am not that huge type of gambler. But there are many Rich gamblers that could directly reject the offer.
I would like to think this question is actually pointed to those of us who are little time gamblers because the money mentioned is very huge and I can bet that most gamblers would gladly accept the offer even if the amount was reduced a little like let me say 3btc. On a rational reasoning it's going to be very difficult for any gambler to even achieve such great victory and presenting them with this kind of offer will greatly welcome.

Sure, I could easily go without ever gambling again in my life for that sort of sum. I'd probably keep a bit of it and convert the rest into fiat currency, then buy stocks with it - after thorough research of course. That way you could convert it into a steady dividend income and start growing out your portfolio that way. However this question can vary hugely upon the country you live in, as you say it may stretch a huge distance in the poorest areas of a country like Indonesia, but it might barely reach a 5% deposit on a small apartment in a place like San Francisco. In my country it would be a very large windfall, but maybe not enough that you could change your lifestyle completely - you'd probably still want to continue working and maybe pay off your mortgage with it.

I have been looking for this one post that said they will reject the 5btc, when I thought that I have seen the post, you started referring to random people that might not exist.
It is only 1 out of 100 gamblers that will be able to reject the offer. For what reasons will they even reject the offer?
Apart from gambling, there are other areas people gamble but it is not actually called gambling. Such as cryptocurrency trading, it is a kind of gambling also, especially the future trading.

As for me personally, I would accept it without any hesitation since 5 BTC could enable me to start my own gambling site and potentially make a great business with it and it would lead me for sure to additional income.
Honestly, that's a small amount to start with if you want to have your own gambling site established. But yes, that amount could be enough to start with but as you progress and make the website better, you'll need more funds for it because the longer you stay, the more customers you need to cater and that's going to cost you more. As long as it grows, for sure that you'll get more additional income but it's not going to be easy as you may think. And for one to quit with that payment, it's one of the best deals that one can take. So if it ever happens, whether someone gives you a capital or not and you're able to make it happen, good luck.
