Except the gambler is already a millionaire before been presented with this offer, he or she possibly might reject it as it is an insult to their person and freedom to do whatever they want, 5 bitcoins is probably nothing for the millionaire gambler since he or she might already own even much more bitcoins than than that, and might also have chains of businesses and investments bringing in profits on daily basis, for such a person, I repeat again that 5 bitcoins is probably nothing.

But for a gambler like myself, I will accept that offer and quit gambler for the rest of my life, its not so very difficult to do after all, so why not?, % bitcoin is a lot of money even though its not up to the amount i long to have, having that to begin with is not a bad start at all, so very much, I will accept this offer and say a good bye to gambling cus there is even no guarantee that I will win such amount of money if i continue to gamble my entire life.
It all returned to whom 5 Bitcoins were sung because with certain conditions the results will be that will be. Song it to someone like you or me clearly that the choice is to leave gambling, but the story will be different if offered to people who have or are accustomed to having a value of more than 5 Bitcoin.

In general it has been posted before but with different idea, previously someone created a thread about stopping gambling but in the correlation with inheritance from rich parent.
Frankly, I do not really like to imagine something that is too far away from the reality.
In this case, will be there someone in this world who will offer us 5btc to stop gambling?
Well if there is someone who offer me 5btc to stop gambling, yes I'll accept it but will I stop gambling completely as the one who give the 5btc wont be able to monitor my life 24/7 in the rest of my life.  Grin
You reminded me of the post in question but the point is the same I didn't expect anything more than what in reality wasn't that obvious. Imagining it is not enough if the real offer is certain because there is a dilemma and a desire to reach for something bigger. Humans will never be satisfied with what they have or will have.

Who can refuse the jackpot by winning 5 BTC without having to do anything, the answer is clear that anyone will take 5 BTC in exchange for their gambling habits. I immediately started to focus on trading and investing in Bitcoin, some of the results I will give to close friends to gamble as my substitute. The condition is to take 5 BTC then leave gambling for life, I think funding friends to play gambling from Bitcoin investment profits is not included in the agreement, at least I can still watch my friends play with the capital I have.

Hey fellow gamblers, I don't know if this question has been asked before on this forum. If it has , please let me know and I will lock it and move it to archival.

My question is this, if you were given 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again for the rest of your life, will you take it? Considering that first you will already be rich or the prospect of getting rich is high from it. And also if you play your cards right by investing the 5 Bitcoin properly, it could also mean generational wealth. Or will you say that 5 Bitcoins can't match the thrill and pleasure that comes from gambling, be it at a physical casino or an online casino.
If someone can say they are happy with what they have then I would say that the person who gets 5 bitcoins will never gamble again. If that were the case then even the rich people would not be involved in gambling. I think when you are given 5 bitcoins you can try to increase the amount of gambling, your stake will also increase. You will try to make 5 BTC to 10 BTC. It's not just referring to you , I used to do the same myself. Although sometimes a loss comes with a twinge of regret, I feel like if I had the money I wouldn't gamble anymore. It's just a matter of emotion.
But sometimes, when we have money, we even want to gamble again because it's normal for someone to want to get more money than he already has. So once he has earned 5 BTC or even more, he probably won't stop gambling out of a desire to earn more money. 5 BTC is a big temptation when someone has been gambling for too long because he might find it difficult to stop gambling immediately. There must be a sense of loss in what he is so used to that he may return to gambling again. But if he really wants to stop gambling, he shouldn't think about whether or not there is a payoff because he knows that stopping gambling is for his good.

It's a waste of BTC if anyone gives you 5 BTC to stop gambling...

1. You can still trade stock or crypto assets on crypto exchanges.

2. If you are gambling in your room who will know what you are up to? All you have to do is lock the door behind you and start gambling again.

The question is how will this person that gave up 5 BTC will know if you are no longer into gambling after accepting the 5 BTC? So this question isn't working for me, it's not an idea that could work out, some people can't even stop their addiction, gambling is more addicting than another thing and with 5BTC, they can still keep gambling and lose all the BTC.

Greed and Gamblers have a very strong bond you know.

I don't think there can be anyone who will refuse to take 5 BTC to stop gambling forever unless they are already rich and don't gamble so that they can get some money which is not the case with a lot of people. There are also people who are not rich but they gamble just for fun, and even those people would take the money and stop gambling forever because one can easily start a very good business from that money and earn money their whole life from it.

I'm not really sure what a gambling addict would think about this situation because they might be gambling to earn money but even if they take the money, they might not be able to control the urge after they have the money at hand, and if they gamble again, they will most probably lose it all in gambling.
Don't be surprised because people are unpredictable, some valued their pleasure more than any other thing, always ready to give up anything for their pleasures. We all have different concepts and points of view; some would rather gamble than lose 5 bitcoins. I slipped out an investment opportunity when the project was first launched to the market. 5 bitcoins are really valuable. Of course, I would take the offer over gambling, the outcome of which is untrustworthy. Perhaps Bitcoin will crash as well, but a solid approach will undoubtedly yield certain significant results.

Tempting but the question has a fallacy which is that risk can be removed from a person life.   This is impossible so on those grounds and I would always presume a downside to equal the 5 BTC, I would generally not chase up this offer.   Just like I dont chase all those you have won the lottery mail shots I get every day, sure maybe one of them is real but since I never entered that I doubt the premise just like this dont seem real to me.
Plenty of card counters or other gamblers got away with stuff they maybe wouldnt always be allowed to, they failed to walk away with their winnings and ended up banned so I would guess most people fail this test.

5 BTC is already a lot and if that's the simple thing to do, why not? It's free money and if given that easy task, I'll take it. Now, the question is where are the actual people that are willing to offer this kind of thing?  Grin

How about your wife who without your knowing has been investing secretly in Bitcoin for a long time, if it's my wife I don't think I can accept the deal because my money is my wife's money, and her money is her money alone, this is the only exception to the rule even if there is no Bitcoin involve if the wife tells you to stop gambling and she means it, you better listen I based it in my experience and situation Grin

What other pattern of gambling can more favourable and appealing to offering me 5BTC so stop gambling for life. The bitter truth that majority of us gamble for the money not fun and if we are wealthy enough we will never accept gambling as an option to make money when we can invest in numerous projects that can fetch us profit that's not based predominantly on luck like gambling. So OP, YES I will take the 5BTC and gladly walk away from anything related to gambling. I can get fun from other pleasurable activities with my money.
I belief,  100% of members of the forum will simply pick the 5 Bitcoin and quite gambling for life,  even though a good number of members here only gamble to entertained themselves and not for the money,  it even though while we are seeking the fun,  the winning rewards is a big motivation to many of us and no greater fun having and watching 5 BTC chilling in your wallet.

I think there are no greater feelings like that feelings,  5 BTC means a lot of money in many parts of the world that could give you a better life that can make you forget gambling for life.
For a person residing in a third world country, 5BTC is something big and a common man won't earn in his lifetime based on the current price of bitcoin. Surely they'll take the 5BTC and assure not to gamble forever, in between when we move to the comfortable space once again the mind could get deviated looking for more.

In my situation I'll just share it with my family and keep 3BTC for myself with which I could get into trading and make few dollars a day.

Five Bitcoin is a lot of money and is something that I will not want to miss or reject because that is one of the reason why we decided to gamble. Everyone wants to have a suitable and comfortable financial status and able to pay bills and buy whatsoever they want. If I can get five Bitcoin and I am asked not to gamble again, then I will have no choice than to say bye bye to gambling. I know how many years it's going to take me to make that kind of money without having losing that will take it back. If you have it now, I think you can bring it onboard because I can't wait to have this kind of offer.
I guess everyone actually a mindset of winning cash even if it's not the first priority because if we make it the priority of winning in gambling without enjoying the fun then it becomes a problem and for the part where you said you are going to quit gambling if you are given five Bitcoin that part I know most gamblers will go for the 5btc but the issue is that can you actually stop gambling after given the 5BTC.

With calculations, you may possibly win 5 BTC with your entire life gambling career but you'll be saving time if you're just going to take money and leave. That's the best option that a person may take if somebody offers them this type of deal. But it is for sure that if this deal is for real and someone does follow it, there could be a moment of time that he'll still use a couple of btc to gamble because how can they be monitored? Just honoring the promise? I don't think so that people will be up wit hthat.

I won’t even thing about it twice before accepting the offer, 5 bitcoin is really a big amount of money, i don’t really gamble for money, I just gamble for fun and I don’t gamble with much money, so if you can give me this kind of offer, I won’t even think about it before accepting it. I won’t even touch the bitcoin, all I will do is just to send the bitcoin to my main wallet where I have my bitcoin investment, which will increase my bitcoin investment, I will wait till the next bull run before I will sell some part of the bitcoin, then I will keep on holding the remaining bitcoin. I don’t know but am sure it’s just few people that are going to turn down the offer.

And also if you play your cards right by investing the 5 Bitcoin properly, it could also mean generational wealth. Or will you say that 5 Bitcoins can't match the thrill and pleasure that comes from gambling, be it at a physical casino or an online casino.
If you receive this amount of bitcoin, the best thing to do is just to invest the bitcoin, if you can overlook and leave the bitcoin in your wallet for years, am sure you will never regret doing that. All what I will look for is what will give me the same vibe which am getting from gambling thats all. Even addicted gamblers will be forced to quit gambling if they are given this kind of offer.

To get 5 BTC but have to stop gambling, I think many people will do it but will they really stop after receiving the 5 BTC or will they still gamble after receiving the 5 BTC?
Maybe some people won't stop gambling even if they're severely addicted to it, but offering 5 BTC to quit is a lot amount of money. I can't imagine someone would reject such an offer. However, for many gamblers keeping the promise to quit after receiving the money would be hard if they're addicted as you were questioning.

And I think with those 5 BTC, I can start a new business that can give me profit.
Definitely, with 5 BTC you could start your own business and potentially make a lot of money if you invest it wisely in a promising project. Even if you don't have a specific business idea in mind you can still earn through passive income. By investing for the long term and holding your Bitcoin until its price increases you can sell it after and enjoy the profits.

Taking 5 btc to never gamble again sounds like gambling to me. You're betting on the fact that 5BTC will in the next X years be worth more than your potential profit from gambling over the same period of time.

I'd take the money because I believe in bitcoin. 5btc now is a lot of money, enough to buy a house and start your own business. I'll probably never be able to make this much money from gambling.
If we consider the halving and the fact that next year bitcoin will for sure be worth more than it is today, letting this offer pass would be a mistake.

Absolutely.  Me personally, while I love to gamble, whether that's at a physical location or online, I don't gamble that much.  I've still yet to have ever gone to Las Vegas, and don't go to St Louis very often (closest place to me with legitimate casinos) and I most just sports bet, but I don't bet very high amounts.  If someone offered me what's not around $150,000 worth of bitcoin, I'm hoping all over that offer.

imo there are only two types of gamblers who would refuse those 5 BTC
  • people who have good skills in skill gambling games and can generate hundreds of thousands of dollars will definitely not take the 5 BTC.
  • people who are already very rich and can make money without having to work like drake definitely won't take the 5 BTC

while i still make money from my hard work then i will take the 5 BTC and leave gambling (even though my goal is to gamble for entertainment but 5 BTC is really good money for me to be able to grow my business lol)
