5 Bitcoin certainly sounds like a lot of money, and it's hard not to get a little bit covetous thinking about all that digital gold. Gambling, however, is about more than just winning money. It's all about the mental challenge, the rush of competition, and the sensation of mastery. Even if I had a million Bitcoin, I wouldn't be able to give up those exciting moments (LOL give me 1 million please)

Wait a minute... What would happen if I pretended to stop gambling, took the Bitcoins, and then kept on gambling with them? Not that I would ever do such a thing, of course...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

My question is this, if you were given 5 Bitcoins to never gamble again for the rest of your life, will you take it? Considering that first you will already be rich or the prospect of getting rich is high from it. And also if you play your cards right by investing the 5 Bitcoin properly, it could also mean generational wealth. Or will you say that 5 Bitcoins can't match the thrill and pleasure that comes from gambling, be it at a physical casino or an online casino.
Someone came to me and said if you want to give me 50 BTC but I have to give up gambling and quite simply, who is the one who will give it away for free?  Cheesy

Now I know why people constantly fall victim to scams. The answer is, they can't even read a short and simple sentence without misunderstanding it.
It's not 50BTC, but 5. Nobody said 50! You've even quoted him saying 5 and answered with 50. I'm lost for words Cheesy
Now, back to the topic. I'd take the money. I seriously doubt I can ever make 5BTC from gambling, even in the next 10 years... I'll probably be at a loss if I continue with it as it is, to be honest.

If someone ever offers you that kind of money, it's probably a scam, but if it's not - take it and forget you've ever gambled.

I guess you misunderstand his main point, as I understand he is trying to say that "even if" there is someone who will give bigger amount in order to make him stop gambling. And the main idea of his post seems to be the last question which is about who will give free money (regardless the amount) for us to stop something we usually do. I doubt there will be even someone who will come to us and give 1btc or half to stop gambling.

I think if a gambler is so addicted to gambling that if he doesn't bet he might become apathetic. Just as a drug addict may be close to death if he goes without a drug for a day, so a gambler may never stop gambling. Even if such a person were given five bitcoins, he might gamble with them and later lose his money. But there are many people who, if they were given five bitcoins, would never gamble again and instead would hold those bitcoins for the future. If 5 bitcoins were given to a sane gambler right now, he would think about the future and see these bitcoins as his wealth. Because if you hold bitcoins it will definitely be profitable in the future and if you gamble with these bitcoins, there is a risk of losing.

I'd take it without a shred of doubt. Cheesy
That's already money in my pockets, while in gambling you are risking your money for a chance of a jackpot which could take like forever.
5 Bitcoins is a lot of money converted here in our currency and that will make me fix my house, put a college fund for my 2 sons, and maybe invest in a business that I will grow myself and see to it that it can make more money to buy back all the Bitcoin that I spent.
Buying real estate could also be a good investment here and then letting other people pay for it by letting them rent the unit, especially in our part where growth is happening so fast.

No gambling, no problem. I can still enjoy watching sports without money on the line.

Rejecting an offer of 5billion means that yhe person is not ready to be rich and has missed an opportunity of adding to their wealth or becoming rich forever, because why would someone refuse such an offer that would change their life forever, well there's no doubt that there are some people who don't know the worth of bitcoin or have any idea about it, but even at that I think they'll give it a second thought when they discover the amount of money involved to quit gambling, no offence but I think anyone that refuses such an offer is mentally unstable or have gotten very addicted to gambling and have vowed not to leave it, even most wealthy punter would accept this offer in a blink of an eyes.
No matter how skillful or strategic in gambling you can't make up to 5btc in the space of 1 year through gambling, in the world of gambling there are very few punters that would say they've come close to getting such amount in the space of one year, so I wonder why someone would decide to reject such an offer, if I'm given such an offer I'll quit gambling and invest my money in other valuable commodities like investing in Gold, petroleum or even investing real estate and if possible owning my own gambling platform.
Not 5 billion but 5 Bitcoin and the value of 5 Bitcoin is still quite far from 5 Billion, those who refuse 5 Bitcoin may not be because people are addicted but as Op said he is already rich enough and the value offered is not comparable to the wealth he already has, and also not everyone knows that the value of 5 Bitcoin will be very huge over time because it continues to increase like people who can buy Bitcoin for under $1000 don't think it will be like this now because they have sold it just for a few hundred dollars profit.
And this is a story if so there will be many people who will also answer with what if without taking it seriously because it is rather impossible that someone will give us 5 Bitcoins just because they want to see us stop gambling, even the people closest to us will probably never do it, because they think it's possible we lie not to gamble, but because gambling is currently very possible to be done in secret, it will still open up opportunities for us to continue gambling even though we have promised and have received the 5 Bitcoins, and if questions always open opportunities to receive answers with many things.

Well, 5 bitcoins is good money but it's not so much where I live, you can't even buy a house with them. Generational wealth could be created if the money is invested well, but after quite a few years, maybe a couple of decades, although if you count that money as just part of an overall plan, where you also try to create generational wealth in other ways, it could be much less time.

Anyway, yes, I would accept the 5 bitcoins, because for me gambling is an entertainment in which I spend little money. With that money I could find other entertainment and I would have enough left over for savings.

That's true mate, for how long will it take a gambler to have the opportunity of making upto that amount of money, gambling is what we do without having certainty on either winning or not whereby when you're given the opportunity to rece 5btc just like that, no body in his right thinking mind will not accept the offer of bitcoin over gambling since gambling is all about making money and we've already received the offer of having money without the stress and risk to gamble.
Shit never mind earning 5 btc in a single year, most of us here truth be told no matter how high roller would never get as much as 5 bitcoin in their whole gambling lifetimes. And that's with all factors included so if we're being realistic here the amount of things you can do with 5 btc beyond just the simple monetary gain is already astounding especially if you're living in third world countries where price of stuff isn't that high compared to world standards. I get why some people may choose gambling over money, it's their choice and I respect that but it doesn't mean I agree with it or that I "understand" why they chose so lol. The point of some for gambling is to chase money anyway, and then the moment they were given a choice between money and gambling they chose gambling, what a bunch of losers.

It's different for every person I guess, 5 bitcoins though is not enough to make a good living in our country at the current price. Yeah maybe you can buy a nice house or nice car. But the question is, how you can sustain that life if you empty that money and buy those things?

And maybe that's why majority of us will not accept it but rather just have a normal life and then enjoy gambling in the side. Maybe they could earn 5 bitcoin later, the most important thing is to just enjoy life. Because if you got that 5 bitcoin and then stop gambling totally, if might affect your mind.

Well, some people don't really read carefully and just give a comment without giving much thought about it.
This question is quite easy to answer if you are just an occasional gambler, as you can easily say yes.
But if you are a gambler through and through, I don't think 5 BTC can change your mind not to set your hands again in gambling.
It would take a determined mind and sheer power from yourself to change your lifestyle, because you will look for that excitement that gambling brings you.
And if someone offered that to me, I will absolutely accept it. I have no qualms on not having to gamble again.
Mate are you really serious right now,  5 BTC is a big money that can change someone life in any part of the world and gambling is for just two things which are.

1: gambling for fun/entertainment
2: gambling for the winning rewards and money

So in which ever ways you take it,  5 bitcoin will play a big role,  because if you take gambling as entertainment,  you will have alternative ways to keep yourself entertained other than gambling if you have money.

So at the end 5 bitcoins are far more important than gambling in any sense you may think of it.

With that amount of money, only those who have fallen deeply into gambling addiction will reject it. I'm just an occasional gambler so it will be easy for me to turn my back away from gambling. 5 BTC isn't a joke and it could afford to put up a business or even provide a financial freedom when invested in Bitcoin for a long term. It's better to be wise and take that funds than to follow our urges to gamble without any assurance of profit.

5 BTC is already a lot and if that's the simple thing to do, why not? It's free money and if given that easy task, I'll take it. Now, the question is where are the actual people that are willing to offer this kind of thing?  Grin

How about your wife who without your knowing has been investing secretly in Bitcoin for a long time, if it's my wife I don't think I can accept the deal because my money is my wife's money, and her money is her money alone, this is the only exception to the rule
We both agree with that, it's her money and I don't want to intervene with her own finances. I know that it's gonna be easy money but it's a different case if she's involved with it and she's the one who's going to offer it for me. But, I'll just do it for free if that's her and what if she reveals that she's got a lot of bitcoin then that's a relief for me because that means that she's got a lot of investment and she's been doing that for our future.  Tongue

even if there is no Bitcoin involve if the wife tells you to stop gambling and she means it, you better listen I based it in my experience and situation Grin

I think it all comes down to considering gambling as fun entertainment or for multiplying money.
I'm sure if someone is just gambling for fun maybe he won't receive those 5 BTC because fun or entertainment is a personal right that no one can stop because gambling can sometimes be a very entertaining luxury game.
But if someone considers gambling as a place of money multiplier or as a source of income he will receive 5 BTC after that leave gambling for a while but when the money is used up for sure he will come back with the hope of doubling his money again.
So for me it all depends on each condition

I would take that deal without the slightest doubt. It is because I am a casual gambler already I have no problems with this. I can stop gambling for the rest of my life, no big deal. $150k is a very good amount and I can use this money to make other investments. Hopefully you don't consider making investments (like stocks or real estate) "gambling" because lots of people do. For $150k I could buy lots of apple stocks and it is the best company in the world. Or I could simply hold them coins because bitcoin itself is a great investment. There are many potential choices.

In reality, no one will give us 5 bitcoins. Its value is too much and why would anyone spend this much amount of money on us? This is just beyond imagination.

Let's suppose this miracle does happen and someone really gives me 5 bitcoin and asks me to quit gambling, I will take the deal for sure. You know if you start to make 5 bitcoins from gambling, you may never make it so it's better to take five bitcoins, invest it in different things, get more profit from them and forget about gambling.

That will be my and most of people's instant reaction to this offer.

This is very hard question to answer,  I mean if you are really a gambler for a long time, and to some extend, you might not be that addicted but at least you have bene playing. And with the easy access of online gambling, I think majority is into it right now and the numbers could grown in the next couple of years. And with that, for me it's very hard to just step aside what I have been used to in the last 10 years or so. So as much as 5 Bitcoin is huge, definitely at the back of my mind, I'm thinking of declining it. Unless I really intent to quit with that 5 bitcoin, but not sure if that will last for the rest of my life.
